WRITE UP:
Begining:
It all started out as just making the Milwaukee Bucks as good as i could make them. With what i had to work with it would be very tough. I started with two VERY nice peices of Jennings and Bogut. I also started with 3 of the top worst 10 contracts in all the game. (Gooden, Salmons, Maggette). What i wanted to do was get the most i could for both of my good peices (Jennings and Bogut), and break all my bad peices down to start over with them. What ended up happening was, i created one of the greatest teams that GM - A - Team has ever seen.

Win Now:
This is your ULTAMITE win now team. You have a savvy, defensive minded PG who can hit the biggest shots when needed, but can still distrubute as well as anyone with MR. Chauncy Billups. You have the best player in the leauge, who can do it all, and i mean everything with former MVP Mr. Kobe Bryant. You have one of the best glue guys in all of basketball, the perfect compliment to Kobe, as well as top notch defender in Mr. Shane Battier. You also have another former MVP, one of the toughest guys to defend, and All Pro, All Star, All World dominate player, Mr. Dirk Nowitzki. And last but not least, you have the big fundamnetmal, the guy that will do everything right, and not complain, and being a 3rd option on this team, means he will kill you, Mr. Timothy Duncan. This team is MADE for winning RIGHT NOW.

Win future:
Obviously we through this out of the window. We no we have no future beyond our 2-3 year window we have to win a championship, but were okay with that. We want to bring the city of Milwaukee a championship right now.

Overall:
We feel between what we started with, and what we ended up with, we did the best job out of any GM in this league. We made this team a real winner, going from not in the playoffs, to a near lock to win it all. This team can compete with anyone on any given night, and we feel we would come out on top the majority of the time. We feel our team we created the city of Milwaukee is a lock to win "best overall" job.

Jennings / Dooling / Boykins VS. Billups / Jarret Jack.
Obviously Jennings has much more value and is alot younger with buckets of potential, but thats not what this team is about. THis team is about winning RIGHT now, and we feel that Billups provides us with a much better chance to win right now. Jarret Jack is most definatley better then Dooling and Boykins. He was a starter for a long while, and now becomes one of the better back up PG's in this leauge.
My Bucks>>>>>Original Bucks

Delfino / Maggette / CDR / Micheal Redd VS. Kobe / Shane Battier / Mike Miller / Micheal ReddClearly we won this arguement as well. Kobe is the best player in the leauge. All the guys i started with, are solid to good roll players, some over paid alot, but still solid. Between Kobe / Battier / Miller there is the most expirience, playmaking, defense, and hustle you will see from just about any team at the wing spots. Kobe is clearly the best player, while my "roll players" are better defenders as well as on better contracts then the starting guys.
My Bucks>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Original Bucks

Illyasova / Mbah a Moute / Gooden / Bogut / Sanders VS. Dirk / Duncan / Shaq / Evans / Wilcox
Again, Bogut has a lot of value and potential sure, but this team is about winning now. I feel i created the best big man rotation in all of the game. Dirk and Duncan compliment each other perfectly with the inside outside game. Shaq is playing outstanding this year with Boston and will contribute majorly to this teams big man rotation. Evans is the ultamite in your face rebounding back up that really Dirk has never had.
My Bucks>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Original Bucks

Conclusion:
This Milwaukee Bucks team is far more superior then the team that we started with. We have 2 legitamite MVP candidates, and just about the best complimentary peices you can put around them, which all happen to be in the same age group. All these guys are proven winners. They all know what it takes to win and all want to win. There are the up most professional players. They all can defend with the best of them. Not only do we think we created the best team in this particular league, but one of the best GM-A-Team has ever seen in history, and its VERY hard to argue against it.

Team Aim- We are looking to rebuild our franchise based around John Wall so young players, expiring and picks are the best. Anyone is available for little value so bid away. :D

Writup

My idea with this franchise was to build it from the bottom up, based around John Wall. I belive i did an excelent job with this.

Position by Position...
PG- John Wall, Boobie Gibson, Luke Ridnour > John Wall, Kirk Hinrich, Gilbert Arenas
In terms of salary owed and overall production this was a huge win. We saved about 20m a year for just this one position without losing any real production.

SG- Xavier Henry, Jodie Meeks, Nick Young >>> Nick Young, Alanzo Gee
We obviosly improved this position, getting 3 young players, all with VERY high ceilings is a massive improvement.

SF- Wilson Chandler, Paul George, Terrence Williams >>> Josh Howard, Al Thorton, Cartier Martin
This position is another obvious win, Chandler is averaging career highs, Paul George has a great ceiling, while my previous SF position had no direction or good players.

PF- Jared Sullinger, Jason Maxiell > Andray Blatche, Yi Jianlian, Trevor Booker, Kevin Seraphin
This is definately an improvement. Jared Sullinger so far this year has been the best colledge player in the US. We lost a bit of depth, but Chandler can back up PF easily aswell. This position is only a small win IMO.

C- Darko Millicic, Robin Lopez, Timo Mozgv >> Javale Mcgee, Hilton Armstrong, Hmady N'dey
Darko is finally starting to break out of his skin as a player. He is better than Mcgee by quite a significant amount. Robin Lopez was great for Phoenix last year in their playoff run. We definately won this position.

Overall, obviously this team is much, much better than the starting team with no direction and many bad contracts. I have given the Wiards fans hope, earned the organization money and overall just put the city of Washington back on the basketball map!

Analysis

Goals

Orlando's cap situation was horrible. With no second star next to Dwight, no real trade assets, a $94m salary with a $27m luxury tax bill on top of that, no cap space until 2013... and realistically no chance of a championship, and short of assets to trade for anyone good. My goal was simple - to cut as much cost as possible, making the team financially flexible going into the new CBA, whilst still being a deep playoff team. Mission accomplished - as it stands right now I think I can make the ECF at least, and have a realistic shot at luring Deron Williams from the salty lake next summer.

Starters

Collectively, it could be argued my starting lineup is the most efficient in the league. Four shot above 50% (!) in their most recent season. From behind the arc, I have arguably the best shooter ever in Allen, and one of the best 3pt shooting PG's in Nelson - paired with Dwight, it's a great fit. Meanwhile West's solid mid-range game and improving efficiency are the perfect compliment to Dwight, and Hill's late-career rejuvination as an efficient point forward and hard working defender mean this team is exceptionally well balanced, and smart. Defensively, I'll be the best in the NBA.

Add to that, the continuous improvement of Dwight's offensive game, and I'll be exploiting my rivals all day long with a lovely inside-out game. In the East, I don't expect Dwight to have trouble with a 36 year old immobile Tim Duncan, whilst Dalembert and Haywood are of no real concern. And with only one ring between them, these guys will be hungry for success - no complacency here.

What's also clear is that these guys are much improved on the real life Magic. West >>> Bass; Allen >>> J-Rich and Hill >>> Turkoglu. In terms of 2nd/3rd/4th options, these guys are well balanced, and display toughness rarely seen in Orlando.

Dwight Howard - age: 25 - 22.4 points (57.2%), 13.4 rebounds, 2.2 blocks in 36 mpg

David West - age: 30 - 19.1 points (51.6%), 7.3 rebounds, 1 block in 35 mpg

Grant Hill - age: 38 - 14.4 points (51.7%), 4.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists in 30 mpg

Ray Allen - age: 36 - 17.5 points (51.2% / 47.3%), 3.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists in 36 mpg

Jameer Nelson - age: 29 - 13.1 points (45% / 41.4%), 6.5 assists, 0.8 steals in 29.7 mpg

Key Bench

My bench is designed purely to exploit the space provided by Dwight - shooters. Jones, Lee and Neal are all over 40% from 3, and Orlando's system is a perfect fit. With 5 players capable of scoring double-digits from beyond the arc I'm the best 3pt shooting team in the league, bar none. Meanwhile guys like Thomas, Armstrong, Wright and Williams will rotate in the front court, each offering something different, be it rebounding, scoring, athleticism or defense.

James Jones - age: 30 - 6.7 points (42.5% / 42%), 2.3 rebounds in 21 mpg

Courtney Lee - age: 25 - 7.3 points (43.2% / 41%), 2.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists in 19 mpg

Gary Neal - age: 25 - 8.7 points (42.6% / 39.6%), 2.7 rebounds, 1 assist in 19 mpg

The Future

My franchise is perfectly positioned to add another max level free agent in 2012. No. 1 aim: Deron Williams. With Dirk/Kobe, Rose/LeBron, Wade/Amar'e, CP3/Melo, Westbrook/Durant already teamed up, Deron and Dwight will be hungry to beat them in 2012, and Orlando is attractive enough to make that happen. Deron/Lee/Hill/West/Dwight - just a pipe dream?
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

Analysis

Goals

This is my first attempt at a 'win future' team, and I only took them because nobody else wanted to. I guess that should give you an idea about the task of doing something interesting in Charlotte!

Anyway, simply put, I feel in the space of two season's I've rebuilt this franchise for the future, got myself a 'star' talent to build around, and cleared out the bad contracts. With the continued development of my core, I don't think a push at the playoffs is out of the question for the upcoming season. And IF my young core develops as hoped, I've also got the cap space in 2012 and 2013 to add 1 or 2 key free agents and take this franchise to the next level.

Given where I started, I think I've put the Bobcats back on the map as a respectable franchise, which is as much as I could have achieved given the situation I started in.

Starters

The key things with my starting 5 is that they’re all young, and with the exception of Cousins, all great defensive players. That mentality means they can develop into an excellent defensive unit, and focus on closing out games with that attitude. Ultimately I think peak potential of this team could be similar to that of the Pistons team of the 00’s.

In terms of individual talent, I believe Cousins can become the perennial All-Star who leads the team - we've seen recent games vs the Lakers and Hornets, where he averaged 26 points (53.6%), 11 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1 block in 33 minutes. If that doesn't scream superstar potential....

Meanwhile, I hope Sanders, Batum and Matthews will become similar to Ben Wallace, Tayshaun Prince and Rip Hamilton respectively, both in terms of impact and role. Holiday meanwhile possesses the potential to become a solid, top 10 point guard and is remarkably young (just 21) for a player starting his 3rd season.

C - DeMarcus Cousins - 20 - 15.5 points (45%), 7.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.9 blocks in 27 mpg as starter

PF - Larry Sanders - 22 - 5.7 points, 4 rebounds, 2.3 blocks in 21 mpg as starter

SF - Nicolas Batum - 22 - 13 points (47.5%), 4.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1 steal in 32 mpg as starter

SG - Wesley Matthews - 25 – 18.5 points (44% / 38%), 3.4 rebouds, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 steals in 36 mpg as starter

PG – Jrue Holiday - 21 – 14.7 points (45%), 6.6 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 35 mpg as starter

Key Bench

My bench players all have defined roles on this team – Birdman the defensive enforcer at C, Landry the scorer @ PF to compliment Sanders, Miles the offence-first SF to compliment Batum, Hill the 6th man with playoff experience, who can cover both guard spots adequatly and become a great spark off the bench.

Whilst my starters offer more potential, my bench is more experienced and is arguably amongst the best benches in the league - one thing is for sure, if my starters aren't performing I've got an excellent pool of talent to rely on.

C – Chris ‘Birdman’ Andersen – 5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 block in 19.5 mpg

PF – Carl Landry – 12.4 points (49%), 5 rebounds in 27 mpg

SF – CJ Miles – 12.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.1 steal in 23 mpg

G – George Hill – 11.3 points (46% / 38%), 2.2 assists, 1 steals in 28 mpg

As a side note to this, I also have a select few veterans, such as Posey, Nocioni, Bell, etc. Whilst they won't help my team much on the court, they do have a wealth of experience they can share with my younger players, which I think sets my team aside from many of the other rebuilding teams. Whilst many may count holding these contracts against me, I think the veteran locker-room presence is actually an asset to this team.

Better than before?

Unquestionably so. The team has a future, and despite the inevitable future pick swap (arranged before this game, tweaked during) with Chicago, I've got more assets in place than before, and I've turned a team whose only lucrative trade asset was Gerald Wallace, into a team full of talented young players, with $28m cap space coming up this summer. Is it perfect? No. But it's significantly better than the team I started with.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

Why I'm Better

I started off with a roster featuring guys like Antawn Jamison, Mo Williams, Anderson Varejao and JJ Hickson who I honestly didn't see as future building blocks for the franchise moving forward. By trading up to draft Kyrie Irving I showed my commitment to the future and gave Cavs fans something to get excited about. For the upcoming season, I feel Danny Granger is really going to be the centre piece of my squad. My key strengths moving forward would be the depth of the squad, range from the 1-4 positions and a solid defensive anchor in Perkins with decent wing defenders in Granger/SJax. I feel I managed to get better for the future while also making a very competitive squad for this season.

a little more to come

Timeline
Key players, 2010-2011 - Deron Williams, Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson, Andrei Kirilenko, CJ Miles, Mehmet Okur
A team without direction: At the beginning of the game I had three goals in mind for the Jazz. (1) Improve the bench, (2) improve the shooting guard position, (3) position Utah as a championship contender. I made these goals because of a particular set of flaws that the Jazz have, one being that they are a poor rebounding team, another being that the bench play is extremely inconsistent, and the other that outside of Deron Williams the back-court produced nothing.

Key Players, 2010-11 all-star break - Deron Williams, Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson, Stephan Jackson, Andrei Kirilenko, Elton Brand, Brad Miller
Championship contender: The Jazz were now championship contenders with a potent offense and an improved defense. The loss of CJ Miles and Mehmet Okur would be felt, but the addition of Stephan Jackson in the starting lineup more than made up for the loss. With things sured up in the back-court and a significantly improved bench the Jazz looked poised to make a run to the NBA finals.

Key Players, 2011-12 off-season - Deron Williams, Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson, Stephan Jackson, Andrei Kirilenko, Elton Brand, Brad Miller, Chuck Hayes
Improving the bench: The Jazz were in need of an improvement to their bench and another defender to help Jefferson, Brand and Millsap in the middle. Enter Chuck Hayes, one of the NBA's best post defenders. A teammate once said of Hayes "3/4 of the world is covered by water, the rest is covered by Chuck Hayes." Utah hoped they finally had that "ace-in-the-hole" type player and entered the season with high hopes that Hayes would vault them above the Milwaukee Bucks in the race for the championship.

Key Players, 2011-12 all-star break - Deron Williams, Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson, Andrei Kirilenko, Elton Brand, Louis Williams, Chuck Hayes, Shannon Brown
Re-tool: The Jazz ultimately decided midway through the season that it was time to move on from the Stephan Jackson experiment. He was 33 years old and well past his prime which meant that it was time to trade him for some players that would improve the bench while still keeping the starting lineup intact. With a bench that now had Kyle Korver and Louis Williams the Jazz looked at a bright future and to put up a fight against the league's best teams with their depth and more potent offense. Fitting Shannon Brown in the starting five helped to space the floor for Jefferson and Millsap and resulted in a large increase in fast break production.

Direction
When I took over the Spurs, I saw a team that had a year maybe two left with Tim Duncan where the Spurs would be competitive. Given the level of talent in the West, I figured that the Spurs would have a tough time escaping the West and then having to deal with the East's best, so I decided a rebuild was in order. The Spurs lacked any long term players that were under contract for cheap, so it was imperative I got players still on their rookie contracts. Evan Turner and Terrence Jones are my future cornerstone pieces, and we believe they'll work together extremely well on the wing. We like our big man depth as well as our guard rotation. We've got a nice mix of a veterans and youth that will actually allows us to compete for a roster spot.

Writeup
We decided to cash in on the young assets we had (Love, Rubio, Johnson) and build a contender.

PG - Evans: Last years ROY, he is the heart of this team. His ability to drive and dish to our shooters will be key to our offense and his length and size on both ends will gives opposing PG's hell.

SG - Martin: One of the best off the ball players in the league, he will play the Ray Allen role in our offense. A deadly 3-pointer shooter who can score with the best of them.

SF - Pierce: One of the best closers in the league, his all around game is still very good and his efficient scoring and good defense will come handy in closing out games. He will share playmaking duties with Evans on the offensive end, something he has proven he can do.

PF - Horford: Defensive anchor and efficient post scorer with a nice mid-range game, he will be featured a lot in our offense. In his natural position of PF beside a true C he should thrive.

Cc - Pryzbilla: 7-1, another defensive anchor, a good rebounder and shot blocker who doesn't need touches on the other end, he rounds out the team nicely.

Bench

Blake/Brewer/Salmons/Frye/Zaza

One of the better benches in the game, everyone has a role and can play at a high level.

-We took a weak defensive team with no real identity outside of Love, and turned it into a contender with young pieces to build around (Evans/Martin/Horford) and vets (Pierce/Pryzbilla) to help in the win now cause.

OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
sterncohen@comcast.net

Depth chart:
Tyson Chandler 34 / Serge Ibaka 4 / Omar Asik 10
Serge Ibaka 28 / Donatas Montejaunas 20
Kevin Durant 38 / Chase Budinger 10
Manu Ginobili 30 / Thabo Sefolosha 18
Russell Westbrook 38 / Eric Maynor 10

Spot minutes: Joey Dorsey, Delonte West
D-League: James Anderson
Street clothes: D.J. White, Joe Alexander

Image

Goals:
Get better now without sacrificing the long-term potential of a very young and very talented, but deeply flawed team. (The talent is obvious. Flaws, for those who don't watch the Thunder regularly: can't defend the paint; can't shoot the 3; poor defensive rotations and inconsistent effort; poor shot selection late in games.)

Get better now
Did it.

Durant, Westbrook, and Maynor have the same roles on my team as on the real Thunder; Ibaka plays a few more minutes, Sefolosha about ten minutes less per game. Here are the big changes:

C - Tyson Chandler replaces Nenad Krstic. Chandler is the defensive stopper OKC needs, and is given primary credit for Dallas's remarkable defensive turnaround this year. Krstic is as soft as they come. By the numbers, Chandler is putting up .233 win shares / 48 (all data from basketball-reference.com), Krstic .085; at 32-34 minutes per game for Chandler, somewhat less for Krstic, that translates to something on the order of eight additional wins per year.

SG - Manu Ginobili replaces James Harden. Manu is #13 in the entire NBA in PER. James Harden will be a fine player, but he's inconsistent, can't get his own shot, and is not yet a strong defender. By the numbers again, Manu is at .223 win shares / 48, Harden .128; add in that Manu takes minutes from Sefolosha, a fine defender who can't score to save his life, and we pick up about five additional wins here.

Back-up big men: Omer Asik and Joey Dorsey replace Nick Collison. I made a mistake not going after Collison as a free-agent; it doesn't show in the numbers, but he's an important part of OKC's success. That said, Asik, who is useless on offense, is already an excellent defensive center; remarkably enough, the Bulls defend as well with Asik on the court as with Noah. Win shares / 48 has him ahead of Collison (.122 vs. 100), and Dorsey (.089) a bit behind. Given age, I'll call this one a draw.

Which brings us to...

Jeff Green. His minutes are taken by Donatas Montejaunas at PF and Chase Budinger backing up Durant at SF. Which might look like a downgrade, unless you pay attention. Jeff Green seems like a hell of a good guy, but he simply is not a winning basketball player. He currently ranks 56th in PER among NBA power forwards, just a bit below such luminaries as Brian Cook and Reggie Evans. And PER doesn't fully account for just how poorly Green defends stronger PF's - not entirely his fault, since he's essentially playing out of position, but it hurts the Thunder very badly.

So - Chase Budinger is a better scorer than Jeff Green. Donatas Montejaunas shows every indication of being a better player than Jeff Green, though he may not be that in his first year in the NBA. Getting Green out of the lineup is going to be a plus for my team, not a minus.

Put all that together, and we've added a dozen or more wins to a team that's already going to win something like 52-54. And we've addressed the big weaknesses: Chandler, Ginobili and Asik make this a dramatically better defensive team, and Ginobili makes for an almost unstoppable big 3 on offense with Durant and Westbrook. The real Thunder are a good team; this team is a championship contender.

Win later
Let's assume that Ginobili is only good for the two years remaining on his contract. We've then subtracted a future starting SG (Harden), and also given up Aldrich, who has potential (but was widely dismissed as a bust by the large majority of owners in this game during trade talks).

That's the downside. The upside:

Chandler is only 28, and there's no reason to think he declines over the next couple of years. Chandler and Asik should be substantially better at C for the foreseeable future than Aldrich and ... Mullens?

We've added Montejaunas at PF, and the real Thunder will never come close to a player of this caliber in the draft.

We've added Budinger and James Anderson on the wings, either of whom could turn out to be Harden's equal.

I'd call that a net positive - not a huge one, but a plus. This team will continue to be a contender for years.

Draft picks:
2012 OKC 1st and 2nd, LAC 1st (top-10 protected, declining protection through 2015), DET 2nd
2013 OKC 1st and 2nd
2014 OKC 1st and 2nd

Tibor Pleiss (31st pick, 2010)
Latavious Williams (48th pick, 2010)
Ryan Reid (57th pick, 2010)
plus some guys drafted years ago who don't matter

Transactions:
-- Acquired Omer Asik from Chicago for B.J. Mullens
-- Acquired Jordan Hill, Chase Budinger, and Jared Jeffries from Houston for Jeff Green, Morris Peterson, and Royal Ivey
-- Acquired Manu Ginobili, James Anderson, 2011 Milwaukee 1st from San Antonio for James Harden and Jared Jeffries

-- Acquired Tyson Chandler from Minnesota in a three-way trade, sending Cole Aldrich and Mehmet Okur to Denver
-- Re-signed Tyson Chandler to a 5 year contract ($12M / $11M / $12M / $12M / $11M) with a team option for a sixth year at $10M and a $4M buyout if that option is not exercised

Going into this game, I felt as if I had good enough pieces to at least improve the team and make the team competitive. This is my team when the game started.

C - Andris Biedrins / Dan Gazduric
PF - David Lee / Ekpe Udoh / Lou Amundson / Brandan Wright / Jeff Adrien
SF - Dorell Wright / Rodney Carney / Vladimir Radmanovic
SG - Monta Ellis / Reggie Williams / Charlie Bell
PG - Stephen Curry / Jeremy Lin

This team had nice players, but a bad team constructed defensively. No one in the starting 5 is even an above average defender. I didn't think rebuilding would be a good option because I felt like there was enough value and talent on this team to where I could make them a contender. Also doesn't help that over half the league was trying to rebuild as well. The idea was to maybe take advantage of the rebuilding teams giving up their good, but old players. This is my lineup now.

C - Pau Gasol / Nazr Mohammed / Ryan Hollins
PF - Kevin Garnett / Kenyon Martin
SF - Gerald Wallace / Dorell Wright / Al Thornton
SG - Mickael Pietrus / Jamal Crawford / Raja Bell
PG - Steve Nash / Beno Udrih / Willie Warren

WIN NOW
This was the ultimate goal; to build a team that can legitimately contend for a title for the next few seasons. We definitely think we accomplished this goal. The starting five has tons of talent on both sides of the ball, all of the players' skill sets fit in well with each other, the team has tons of playoff/championship experience, and the bench has at least 4 legit starting caliber players.

Starting 5
C - Pau Gasol
Projected Stats: 21ppg, 10rpg, 3apg, 1spg, 2bpg, 36mpg

Gasol is the most key player to our team. Some might ask, "Can you build a team around Gasol?" When you have Garnett, Wallace, Nash, Crawford, Wright, Martin, Pietrus, and Udrih surrounding him, you most definitely can. Gasol is the most versatile big man in the NBA, able to score in the post, hit the 15 footer, pass, rebound, and block shots. Playing next to Garnett, Gasol will have plenty of room to operate in the post, as Garnett has the ability to knock down jumpers. Nash is also the best passer Gasol has ever played with, so combine that with the fact that Gasol is our go to guy on offense, there is no reason he shouldn't be able to average around 21ppg for the season.

PF - Kevin Garnett
Projected Stats: 14ppg, 9rpg, 2apg, 1spg, 0.5bpg, 30mpg

Garnett is our best post defender. He will have the duty of guarding the opposing team's best post player (PF or C). He is still a top 5 post defender in the league, and can make a whole team's defense better, as he showed when he arrived to Boston. Most of his offense will come from jumpers, whether it come from pick and pop with Nash, or a kickout from Gasol. His main job on offense is to spread the floor for Gasol and Nash. Of course he will get some post opportunities, but many of those will go to Gasol.

SF - Gerald Wallace
Projected Stats: 14ppg, 8rpg, 2apg, 2spg, 1bpg, 36mpg

Wallace is our slasher and our best perimeter defender. Every team needs a glue guy and hustle guy, and Wallace will fulfill this role for us. In Charlotte, he's forced to take a lot of shots and exert a lot of energy on offense. Here, he is technically the 4th option, and can put 90% of his energy towards rebounding and defense, where we'll need him most. He will always guard the opposing team's best perimeter player. He is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, and will guard the Carmelo's, Kobe's, and LeBron's in the playoffs. His offense will mainly come from attacking the basket, running the break with Nash, and offensive putbacks. His offensive production should increase and also be more efficient with Nash (best PG he's ever played with). His skillset perfectly compliments the other members of the starting 5.

SG - Mickael Pietrus
Projected Stats: 6ppg, 2rpg, 1apg, 1spg, 20mpg

Some may consider this our weak link in our starting 5, but he actually rounds out our starting 5 well for us. All we need him to do is hit the 3 and play good defense, two things Pietrus can do very well. He also won't really need any touches, which fits in well with ball dominant players like Nash and Gasol. As a shooter, Pietrus does well in spot up situations and does well when he plays with a good big man. When he played with Dwight Howard for 2 seasons, he shot 36 and 38% from 3, which is above average. Playing with Garnett, Gasol, and Nash, he will have more open looks than ever, and should definitely be able to shoot around 38-39%. Defensively, he's asked to stick with his man and not give up anything easy. Pietrus can definitely do this, as he is one of the better perimeter defenders in the league, when motivated. He was good in Orlando, no reason he shouldn't be good with this team. He will also probably guard PGs in spurts.

PG - Steve Nash
Projected Stats: 16ppg, 11apg, 3rpg, 1spg, 31mpg

Nash is the catalyst of our offense. Even at his age, he is still the best passer in the league. His job is to get the team easy opportunities on offense. Nash is one of those players that automatically makes the team's offense potent, no matter the personnel. Teams that Nash are on always have a top 5 offense. It's not only his assist numbers, it's his ability to direct the offense and put players in a position where they can get the ball, make a move, and score, and his ability to predict a play before it unfolds, making the pass to the assist. It also doesn't hurt that he's a career 49% FG shooter, which is unreal for a guard. His defense will be a problem, but we can always put Pietrus on PGs for some possessions. Most guards in today's NBA are too quick to guard well anyways, so it will be up to the bigs to protect the paint when they penetrate. There's definitely enough defensive talent on the roster to cover up for Nash's lack of defense.

WIN FUTURE
Not really any future in this team to be honest, but I do have Dorell Wright who's 25 and having a great season, also my 2013 1st round pick just in case I'm rebuilding by then. Also no real long term contracts except for Crawford.

I ended up trading the aging Wade for a young and uprising superstar talent in Derrick Rose while still being able to get another great young talent in James Harden to build around LeBron. It was tough at first -- but in the end, I felt that I made the right choice by electing to build around Bron instead of D-Wade even if it was a sin to any real life Heat fan because LeBron is younger, and basically.....better. I also managed to keep Chris Bosh since I believe he's a great fit next to Rose and Bron.

OUTLOOK NOW:

Rose >/= Wade
Tmac > Chalmers
LeBron = LeBron
Bosh = Bosh
Haywood > Juwan
Jet Terry > Miller
Harden > Jones
Tmac > House
Marion > Haslem
Arroyo = Arroyo
Krstic >/= J.Anthony
Pittman = Pittman
Ilgauskas = Ilgauskas
Dampier > Magloire
Stevenson > no one

The Miami Heat believes we were a major contender before, NOW, and in the future. Why? Let's start things off with the present.

We have Derrick Rose, who's on his way in rising to one of the game's top players. Some already consider him a superstar at this point. He could only get way better in the future. He would provide a huge boost in forming a star trio with LeBron and Bosh. As the Bulls commentators say, he's too fast. Too strong. Too good.

We also have James Harden. Kid's a special talent looking at him atm and he still has long ways to go but we already feel that he's a great player. He has a nice offensive game, is versatile, can provide spark on the team with his electrifying dunks, has solid defense and is a great character. We feel that he's a very solid player that is already key to our success now and would be too in the future.

We have LeBron James. The best player in the league for the past few years. Enough said.

Chris Bosh also comes into the picture. Solid big who fits well and has nice chemistry with LeBron. He's already established himself as a bigtime star, and will continue in doing so in the team's quest of getting rings.

Brendan Haywood also comes in as a major upgrade in our 5 spot. He fits with Chris Bosh PERFECTLY. He's a tough and very physical player who never backs down from anyone. Just imagine him feasting over putbacks and wide open looks by just starting alongside the big 3.

Tracy McGrady is a nice piece to our championship puzzle as well. We basically see him as an old version of LeBron. Even if he isn't that explosive compared before, he has a very high basketball IQ. He can still be a very solid elite-like playmaker that can get his teammates involved. He can also still provide some offensive spark. His veteran presence would be huge to our team's desired success.

Jet Terry is another solid veteran presence. He's already widely known for his clutch moments. That would be pivotal for us not only in the regular season, but in the playoffs and Finals as well. He's a great component in the locker room and can mentor our youngins. He can also be a good playmaker.

Shawn Marion. A very nice scrappy player who could defend very well and could play both forward positions. His rebounding is also very welcomed to the team as he's proven that he could be a very major contributor from that department. He would also have a luxury of finishing alley-oops from the likes of D-Rose, TMac, Bron, etc.

Ilgauskas, Arroyo, Stevenson, Dampier and Krstic. All great veteran role players. Big Z can stretch the floor nicely. He has excellent chemistry with LeBron. Arroyo can come and provide his shooting and playmaking abilities when needed. Deshawn could provide a huge boost from the outside with his long range shots. Dampier can still be a solid big who could provide his bulky beef down in the lane to defend the other team's big man. Krstic can also do the same.

Finally, we are very high on Dexter Pittman. We received a lot of offers involving him mainly as a "throw-in" and we said hell no to every one of them. He has A LOT OF POTENTIAL. He's basically the 2nd coming of Kendrick Perkins, an even better one if things go right. I won't be surprised if he becomes our starting center in the future since he possess solid work ethic, smooth post skills and nice defense.

LOOKING AHEAD INTO THE FUTURE:

Derrick Rose would be a more well established superstar. LeBron would continue being a top 2 NBA talent and will settle to do less now that he has PLENTY of help he's had ever before. Harden will blossom more and more with the help of LeBron. Chris Bosh would still be in the premier PF group. Tmac will also provide a nice spark and would be a crucial piece in being a responsible veteran for our championship run. Jet Terry can also help the youngins and other vets win it all with his clutch play, and he may also serve as a great mentor to Harden.

Shawn Marion would also be our glue guy in the frontcourt and will provide a solid veteran presence alongside my young group. Finally, we have Dexter Pittman, which is considered as Kendrick Perkins 2.0 once he develops, polishes, and gets in to proper game shape. We are very happy of our future and we feel that it is bright. Let's not kid ourselves. There's really a nice crop of competition from other teams, specifically in the East, but they're aging and we feel that in our honest opinion, we are the best youngest elite team now and in the future as long as our core of Rose-LeBron-Bosh is intact.

Greg Oden/Spencer Hawes/Daniel Orton

As obviously proved this year in the NBA the starting lineup was going no where fast.

My Goal was to keep all of the young talent which I did and improve that salary structure which I have also done.

The team has a much better future than it did when I originally took control of it. While the talent level right now is no where near competing for a championship level. My mindframe was to build the team similar to the Atlanta Hawks. Keep the guys together no matter how bad they were doing. Look at Atlanta now they are a top 4 team and while they are still not going to win against the powerhouses in the east they are built for long term entry into the playoffs.

As a GM the goal is to put a good product on the table for the fans and to compete every night that the team plays. However, you have to do this while making the owner money. I feel that the addtions I have made give the team a strong future of making the playoffs year in and year out. Maybe a few years from now the addition of that one star player to the team will out it over the top to win a championship.

Over the next 2 or three years the team can probably expect a couple of high draft picks. Since all of the team is locked up for a few years, that gives me more room to build through the draft.

My goal through the draft over the next couple of years would be to
A) Draft that star PG I need
B) Draft a ball handling SF, so all I need are two top 5 picks in the next two drafts.

Four years from now I see this team being very competitive.
PG/Bayless/Bledsoe
DeRozan/Belinelli
SF/Marvin Williams/Sonny Weems
Ed Davis/Amir Johnson
Greg Oden/Spencer Hawes/Daniel Orton

is where I am heading.
2012 Draft will be a PG
2013 Draft will be the SF, right now Marvin Williams is a respectable started and is getting starter money, but he is not in my future plans. Weems is ok but hes not a starter by and stretch.

Basically this is how I feel about my team.

PG: Bayless/Bledsoe > Calderon/Jack/Banks
Much better future with the youth of those two than the others. Jack is now useless in NO and while Calderon puts up good numbers his pylonesque defense is the main problem with the Toronto Raptors current team.

SG: DeRozan/Belinelli = DeRozan/Barbosa
Obviously DeRozan is the same, Belinelli is the same chucker that Barbosa is but hes a lot younger.

SF: Marvin Williams/Sonny Weems/Boris Diaw > Linas Kleiza/Sonny Weems/Julian Wright
This one is arguably close, but I would take Marvin Williams over Linas Kleiza any day of the week, and if Diaw was in my plans hes definitely better than Julian Wright.

PF: Ed Davis/Amir Johnson/Dante Cunningham > Reggie Evans/Amir Johnson/Ed Davis
Basically an addition by subtraction. Reggie fits good next to Bargnani but Bargnani should have been playing PF and not C. Ed Davis should be starting over Amir as well imho but Triano dosent think so thats why he got fired when I took over the team.

C: Greg Oden/Spencer Hawes/Daniel Orton > Andrea Bargnani/Joey Dorsey/Solomon Alabi
No matter how you look at Greg Oden hes still a better C than Bargnani. Injuries have plagued him but going foreward having a SOFT big man in Bargnani was not going to get this team to the next level. Theres an obious upgrade at backup C here with Hawes and Orton cleraly being better than Dorsey and Alabi.

I feel the team is in a much better position than it was when I took them over. Hope the rankings reflect the work I have put into this team.

Plan:

Taking over for another gm part way through the game really didnt affect me as there had been no major moves done before i took over. When seeing this team I knew i wanted to build around Gasol as he is probably a top 5 center in the league and it is hard to find a true center in the league these days.

So right away i traded away Mayo, and Gay as i wanted to get rid of the losing culture and I brought in Scola, and Galanari and much more affordable contracts. Next we wanted to solidify our bench so we brought in players like Brewer, Howard, Bass and Telfair through minor trades and free aency and believe they will be an effectrive second unit.

We believe the core of this team of Gasol/Gallo/Scola all locked up longterm on reasonable contracts we feel we can build a championship contender.
Also we realize this is Memphis we will never probably have a payroll of over 85Million so we got to be smart whenever we do hand out longterm contracts, as well many top tier free agents tend to bypass Memphis as an option unless we severely overpay them, so just looking at my team I belive they could be a top team in the Western Conference and bring in playoff revenue which we could perhaps utilize in the future in terms of signing a big name free agent.
In terms of style I see them as all sharing the ball equally with probably all the starters averaging around 15-22ppg and the bench scoring around 35-45points per game. Defensivley we like Scola and Gasol in the front court there are not many front courts in the league that can scare people off by looking differently.
More to come..

COMPARISON:

I started off building a win now team, but changed my gameplan halfway through the season. I think I've built the premier young team in this game. 4 of my starters are 22 years old, and all of them are proven starters in this league. My bench has some long term contracts, but all of them play vital roles, and none of them are dead weight. My plan is to compete in a couple years, even though I believe this team can still make the playoffs with the quality of our youth.

PG-wise, not much has changed. Livingston is now the backup, instead of Farmar, but that is mostly irrelevant. Harris will still be the starter, and I'm counting on him to be a stable veteran presence, putting up about 16/8 and helping the young guys grow.

Eric Gordon is arguably the best young SG in the league, a clear upgrade over Anthony Morrow. Gordon will be my 1st option for the next 10 years, potentially putting up 25/5/4 for a long time. Francisco Garcia, another solid veteran, will get minutes behind him, a solid all around SG.

Thad Young is one of my favorite players, and he'll get more chances here than he would in Philly. He's locked into a fair long-term contract, is still extremely young, and has been putting up great numbers in limited minutes. I expect 14/7 out of him, if not more, as his scoring instinct develops. Garcia will also get minutes here, and Josh Childress can take up the remainder. He hasn't played well in Phoenix, but is a proven solid defender and role player, which is all that's needed of him here. Compared to the old Nets, Young is on a similar contract to Travis Outlaw, but performs much better.

At PF, Kevin Love is one of the two best young PF's in the game, along with Blake Griffin. The best rebounder in the league, he'll hopefully maintain his 20/15 average for the next 10 years, maybe with a few less points on better efficiency. Thad Young will get the rest of the backup minutes. Favors was a good young player, but Love is much better and is young enough to keep improving as well.

DeAndre Jordan will be our defensive anchor. He's on a great value, long term contract, he's proven effective alongside a premier PF, and Love will provide much more spacing than Griffin does. I don't need him to score to be effective, but 10/10 with a couple blocks and great defense. Brad Miller will provide a veteran presence of the bench, coaching my young bigs and acting like an extra assistant. Lopez was great,

Overall, this team is set up amazingly for the future. Even once Gordon and Love require extentions, we'll still be well under the luxury tax, with all our starting 5 on great contracts. With Gordon and Love leading the way, Harris providing a solid veteran 3rd option, and Young and Jordan filling their roles perfectly, this team will compete for titles for many years to come.
