GM A Team: Spring 2011: Trades Topic

Post#1 » by lukekarts » Wed Mar 30, 2011 8:28 am

Trades

- Trades must work within the rules of the current CBA, salaries must be posted. Take note of BYC players.
- http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm will tell you EVERYTHING you need to know
- Each team must post their rationale for agreeing to the trade.
- Rosters must be up-to-date before trades can be approved
- Back to back picks are allowed to be dealt
- With the exception of the free agency period , trades must see both teams remain within the roster limit of 12-15 players
- Vetoes sent to the commissioner
- Trades with significant numbers of vetoes will be reviewed with mods.
- 24 hour period before trade is approved

And to test your reading skills, any trade posted here before Midday EST will be cancelled. That is in 7 hours 30 minutes, for anyone not sure of the timezone.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

1.

Dallas Trades
Dirk $17,278,618
Marion $7,055,500
Ian Mahimni $885,120
Brian Cardinal $854,389 - to stay in roster limit.
17 278 618 + 7 055 500 = 24 334 118

New Jersey
Brook Lopez $2,413,320
Dan Gadzuric $7,248,325
Sasha Vujacic $5,475,113
Anthony Morrow $4,000,000
Quinton Ross $1,146,337
2011 LAL 1st
2012 Houston 1st
(2 413 320 + 7 248 325 + 5 475 113 + 4 000 000 + 1 146 337) * 1.25 = 25 353 868.8

Dallas accepts. I wanted to rebuild and step one of that process is clearing salaries and getting prospects. Brook is great and I am excited to start stockpiling some picks.

Confirmed. Dirk is 24/7 on 50/40/90, he's a superstar that we can pair with Williams going forward. Marion is a solid role player who compliments Dirk with his defense and rebounding.

The LA Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to the following:
Memphis will send:

Zach Randolph: 17,666,666
O.J Mayo: 4,456,200
Shane Battier: 7,354,500
Tony Allen: 3,000,000
Haddadi: 1,600,000
2011 1st Round Pick
Total: 34,077,366

Pau Gasol: 17,823,000
Shannon Brown: 2,149,200
Steve Blake: 4,000,000
Matt Barnes: 1,765,000
Luke Walton: 5,260,000
Total: 30,997,220

The chance to pair Pau with his brother Marc was intriguing enough to pull the trigger on this deal. Losing potential studs like Mayo and great vets in Battier/Allen will sting for a bit, but this will be great for Memphis in the future!

Nice dealing

The Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets have agreed upon a trade.

Part 1

The Nuggets send part of their TPE received in the Carmelo deal in exchange for Al Jefferson ($13,000,000).

Part 2

The Nuggets send Danilo Gallinari ($3,304,560) in exchange for Raja Bell ($3,000,000).

Deal Works!

The Nuggets accept, we needed a PF that would fit into our core, and like what Jefferson brings to the table.

NJ and POR have a trade to announce.

NJ outgoing:
Jordan Farmar $3,750,000
Brandan Wright $3,398,072
Kris Humphries $3,200,000
2012 and 2014 NJ 1st's

POR outgoing:
Marcus Camby $11,749,832
Armon Johnson $473,604
Patty Mills $937,195

Why? Camby is putting up 11RPG and 1.6 blocks and thats just what we need beside Dirk. We feel a frontcourt of Marion/Dirk/Camby with DWill running the show can do damage in the east.

Inlcudes numbers

Portland accepts. We don't like Farmar, but we like Humphries, and this fits with what we're trying to achieve.

As a follow up, POR and DAL have a trade to announce:

POR Outgoing:
Greg Oden - $6,760,524
Andre Miller - $7,269,264
Elliot Williams - $1,254,720
Luke Babbitt - $1,645,440
Brandan Wright - $3,398,072
= $20,328,020 *1.25 + $100k = $25,510,025

Tyson Chandler- $12,600,000
Jason Kidd - $8,610,500
Quinton Ross - $1,146,337
Peja Stojakovic - $854,389
JJ Barea - $1,815,000
= $25,026,226 - the deal works

Why for POR? We get an upgrade at Center in Chandler, whilst upgrading our passing at PG. I feel this puts me in a better position to have a deep playoff run in the West.

Dallas accepts. Oden's potential is still off-the-charts and I am able to get something for players that could walk in free agency. I also feel I can get a decent return for Miller, which makes this trade perfect for my goals.

Utah accepts. I think Gallinari and Favors would be one heck of a duo. Plus this gets me out of luxury tax this year and could possibly set me up with cap space in the offseason.

76ers Get
Reggie Evans $5,080,000
Julian Wright $2,858,057
Ed Davis $1,919,160

Total: $9,857,217 x 1.25 + 100,000 = $12,421,521

Raptors Get
Andre Iguodala $12,345,250
Tony Battie $854,389 (Min salary rule-doesn't count in trade)

Total: $12,345,250

Accept. Not sure if I could have gotten more for Iguodala, but I had to jump on the opportunity to get a prospect like Ed Davis. Only 21 years old, averaging 11ppg, 11rpg, 2bpg per 36, we think he can be an All-Star one day. The cap relief helps out a lot as well.

Raptors accept. Losing Davis is tough but we have Amir Johnson already there and we are high on him. Getting a talent like Iggy should help us out on defense or we may decide to flip him for more assets later on.

The Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks have agreed upon a deal.

The Nuggets send Al Jefferson ($13,000,000) in exchange for Andrew Bogut ($11,000,000).

$11,000,000 X 1.25 = $13,750,000 > $13,000,000.

Nuggets accept. We honestly did not see us trading Jefferson this soon, especially with his 25/12 post all-star break, but we really like what Bogut brings to the table, with his defensive ability.

Lakers accept, losing Gasol shakes up somethings in Laker land. But with Randolph having changed from his black hole ways I think Lakers take the risk in taking him as Gasol's replacement. Lakers also add much needed youth to their bench and have players develop under the veteran presence of the team's core players. We feel OJ Mayo is worth the risk especially under Kobe's wing. We also receive some tenacious defenders in Battier and Tony Allen, and with Artest on the team we have the best defensive wing rotation in the league, preparing us for a possible match up with the Heat, Allen and Battier will take pressure off Kobe guarding the James' a Wade's of the league. Haddadi is also a solid backup for Bynum and Randolph.

In a trade of epic proportions, the Denver Nuggets, and New Jersey Nets have agreed upon a blockbuster deal. Get ready, because this magnitude sort of deal is something we've never seen before. Are you ready?

The Nuggets send Kosta Koufos ($1,298,640) in exchange for Murphy TPE ($1,321,856).

Nuggets accept. We like to make deals, and cut a roster spot, while saving some cash.

Based upon what's written below the Charlotte Bobcats and Utah Jazz would like to announce a trade.

The Bobcats trade:
Gerald Henderson
Joel Pryzbilla (expiring contract)
2011 First round pick (New Orleans)

The Jazz trade:
Paul Milsap
Fransico Elson

Reasoning: The Bobcats have a really good defensive team (11th overall) but they have real problems scoring (29th overall). We're barely a playoff team now and we don't exactly have a lot of trade chips to get much better fast. The challenge is to try and move the team to the next level without sacrificing the defense. So while I hated to give up Henderson and a pick I think its the right move to make. Milsap is a high motor guy who can scorer, rebound, and play D. I think he's a good fit. Plus I still have the Bobcats own first rounder to use to get a replacement at the two spot.

http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/ ... z1I76SBrPA

2011 first round draft pick from New Orleans
New Orleans' own 2011 1st round pick to Charlotte via Portland (top 7 protected in the 2011 draft, top 8 protected in 2012, top 8 protected in 2013, and top 8 protected in 2014). If Charlotte via Portland does not receive New Orleans' own 1st round pick by the 2014 NBA Draft, then New Orleans will instead send their own 2015 2nd round pick and their own 2016 2nd round pick to Charlotte via Portland [New Orleans - Portland, 10/23/2010 and then Charlotte - Portland, 2/24/2011]

Utah accepts

Millsap needed to be moved because of Favors, in this trade we got 2 pieces that could help Utah in the future, and we cleared more salary. Henderson has been playing a lot better lately and if he continues developing, he will be a very good SG. We also likely pick up another 1st rounder in this years draft to provide more rebuilding assets. In addition, we cleared more salary to give us added flexibility by moving Millsap and bringing in Przybilla's expiring.

Salaries Millsap 7.6 + Elson 0.854 = 8.454 x 1.25 = 10.567 (works)
Przybilla 7.725 + Henderson 2.104 = 9.829

The Denver Nuggets and Toronto Raptors have agreed upon a trade.

1st, the Nuggets send Timofey Mozgov ($3,567,096) in exchange for TPE from Bosh trade. The Raptors send Joey Dorsey to the Nuggets as part of the deal as well.

Part 2 of the trade:

The Nuggets send
Ty Lawson ($1,546,560)
Kenyon Martin ($16,545,454)
Arron Afflalo ($1,959,577)
2011 DEN 1st

Outgoing: $20,051,591
Incoming: $20,845,250

The Raptors send
Andrea Bargnani ($8,500,000)
Andre Iguodala ($12,345,250)

Outgoing: $16,595,250 X 1.25 = $20,744,0625 *Includes Bargs BYC.
Incoming: $20,051,591

Nuggets accept, we hate to trade Lawson and Afflalo, absolutely HATE it, but pick up two nice pieces that can move forward with our core. I know people aren't too high on Bargnani, but he has his strengths, and Bogut compliments him nicely in the frontcourt to cover his weaknesses.
