Coming into the 2011 season, Yao Ming's retirement, saving them their Amnesty clause, was the Rocket's greatest asset. From humble beginnings, through constant communications the Rockets have assembled a group of young, team oriented players who will compete for the Western Division and NBA title in the next 3 to 5 years. They still need to add some depth, but their starting 5 will rival any group of starters in the Association. Three of their bench players have enjoyed tremendous success in their careers and are still young enough to contribute for many years. The others are highly touted rookies with unlimited potential. All the key players are signed for several years so this team will have time to develop their chemistry.
This is not the Kyle Lowry, Chase Budinger, Chuck Hayes Rockets anymore and will prove to be a major force in the West.

Since I was allowed to take on the NY Knicks just before the 2012 Draft, I will post both write ups in this thread. Entering this game, it was determined that we would operate under the new "Hard Cap" Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Knicks were clearly on the Super Team course and I immediately had to change that plan. In 2 major plays, NY moved Carmello Anthony and used the Amnesty Clause on Chauncey Billups. The Knicks were fortunate to be able to resign Chauncey in the 2011 FA period so the strategy worked. From that point, it was again constant attention to what teams were looking for and communicating with as many GMs as possible to make moves that would enhance the Knicks. In the end, 4 of the Knicks starters were ranked in the top 10 of their positions League wide in 2011. Brendan Haywood - the other starter won an NBA championship and was a major contributor in those playoffs. The Backup PG has a 19+PER and the balance of the roster average over a 13.5PER and are solid defenders.
The NY Knicks are back & are going to challenge for the NBA title for the next 5 years.

POSTSCRIPT:
I again had a great time making deals with many of the GMs who were active in this game. While "We're bored edition" - like all of these games was not without issues, I would like to extend my thanks to the Commish for taking on this thankless job. I found him to be responsive and using sound logic and judgement in rendering his decisions - AND not all went my way.
I did have issues with those GMs who did not get into compliance with the $80M hard cap, which was one of the most interesting aspects of this game. Many of us had rosters that were at or over the Hard Cap, bit the bullet and played by the Hard Cap rule. BUT - I know there were "allowances" and enjoyed trading with some of these offenders.
The GMs that gripe me and who I would recommend be monitored or excluded in future games are those who for whatever reason decided to sit this game out. Whether a ruling was made against you, or your life just got in the way and would not allow you to continue, You deliberately did not participate and kept whole teams on the side lines to the determent of the game.
If you roster has 10 players or less - You made 10 or less trades in 2 years of games - you updated your roster 10 or less times, You were undermining this game. Got a problem, get over it! 28 GMs wanted to participate and you wanted to wreck the game. It was not a winning strategy and you did not get poor offers for the past 2 months. There are lot's of reasons not to participate, but man up like Rocdogg - let everyone know you disagree with what's going on and get out.
For the rest of you who I had a chance to deal with, whether we traded or agreed to disagree, I thank you all. The fun is in the negotiations and there are a lot of approaches to building a winning team that are reflected in these rosters. Thanks and Good Luck.
