GM-A-Team - Signups 02/03 Edition

Ok so sign up for the next GM a Team game here. Please put your top 3 teams you want to be then the commish (or someone) will run a lotto to determine the exact teams. Also put your contact info down - email address is required and an AIM account is recommended.

Now for the actual game.

With the lockout going on (and not looking pretty :( ) we decided to do a different type of GM a Team. We will do this game in the 02/03 season instead of the current one. We will have trading at the beginning, the deep 2003 Draft (Bron, Melo, Wade, Bosh ect), 2003 FA, then more trades at the end. The timeline isn't set yet, but that's the basic idea.

For legistics and chosing purposes, here is some info you might want:

Full FA list:

http://collegebasketballnews.scout.com/2/118877.html

Here's the draft list:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/draft/NBA_2003.html

Salaries/Rosters are here:

http://content.usatoday.com/sportsdata/basketball/nba/salaries/team
(Click on "2002", then find your team (That's your roster), then click on individual players for future salaries)

Since Seattle isn't listed there, their team roster and salaries are right here:
http://www.insidehoops.com/nba_salaries_pacific.shtml

Soft salary cap: 50M
Luxury tax: 60M
Hard cap: None

Vet min : $600,000
Rookie min : $300,000
0-6 Years max: $10,000,000
7+ Years max: $12,000,000
MLE : $5,000,000
BAE : $2,000,000

Commish: Warriorfan

I (and I imagine others) can help with FA/Draft ect, if the commish needs it.

***Things to Remember:***
-If you sign up, please do a bit of research. Most people don't remember all of the role/bench players from 9 years ago, so if you can research all of your own players, that would be great. Basketball-reference.com is a great resource for stats, along with just simply looking them up on Google or Wiki for bios.
-Players (young especially) can change how they turn out based on where they are. IE say Wade somehow goes to the Lakers and never gets any playing time cause of Kobe, we wouldn't know him as he is today. Or if Darko was in a different role, maybe he becomes better than he is today. Just remember that things like that can happen (or you predict to happen) in this game, and saying "Well they were a bust after this year" might not be the best, because their path can change.

I'm sure Warriorfan will claify any questions and finalize rules, but I just thought I'd put the just of the game out there.

Other than that, lets get things going!

1. Sacramento
2. Portland
3. Seattle

2nd Team:
Any

Everyone please put your top 3, it helps with the lotto, don't just put your top choice, even if you think you will win, or whatever, put your top 3. Once there gets to more people you won't be able to just chose your team, so please put your top three, thanks.

I think I am going to sit this one out, it looks like a pretty neat game, though, and I am sure it will be well run ;)

Kees asked me to post this.

Can posters take two teams? It will speed up the process and insure we have good, active GM's since we seem to have that right now. Whadda guys think? If everyone took 2 teams we'd only need 2 more GM's and we could get started.

Edit: Two options for a 2nd team:

1. List your top 6 teams

2. List "I'll take any team as my 2nd team", it'll be easier on Kees to hand out teams.

last game has yet to officially end so maybe a bit more patience is required. :P

besides, GMs having 2 teams each could lead to all sorts of problems with trading IMO

tbh, i'd rather play another round of gm a team for the current era (2011-2013)

anyone else agree with me?

There is a reason I made this thread (viewtopic.php?f=340&t=1131795) about a month ago. Would've loved to here your opinion when we were deciding, I know me, BI, Warriorfan, and others are all ready to play this game.

Sacramento Kings
Phoenix Suns
Detroit Pistons

Memphis Grizzlies
Milwaukee Bucks
San Antonio Spurs

Let's see how this works.
Note:
No direct trades among controlled teams (GM can't trade to his other team).
