GMAT: March Madness Edition: Official 2012 FA thread
You can start to send offers for your own RFAs as soon as the draft is over. I will give teams a shot to extend these guys prior to opening them up to the rest of the league. Unsure if they will sign, but they will listen to you first.
Everyone else can start sending RFA offers at noon EST on Thursday
Send offeres to jjbail10@yahoo.com
please put the team name and the player in the subject field. All offers must be emailed, no AIM offers will be considered since they are easily lost

For any player with less than 2 years NBA experience (Jeremy Lin & Landry Fields) the "Gilbert Arenas Rule" comes into effect.
Meaning their max salaries for the first 2 years can only be MLE. Then for their 3rd seasons (and after) are eligible to receive an increase if desired.
If I'm not mistaken this is only for teams signing them to an offer sheet. Any team with their Early Bird Rights with cap space can resign said player for whatever amount as long as they have the space to do it.

Re: GMAT: March Madness Edition: Official 2012 FA thread
Ryan Anderson has accepted the Nets offer (7.5 / 8,062,500 / 8,625,000 / 9,187,500 / 9.75 = 5 years - $43,125,000). He is happy to return to the team that originally gave him his chance and the Commissioner authorized that this reup be post(ed) in the "official Free Agency thread"
The Nets are relieved to retain their uber productive starting PF who is a great fit with their roster and future plans.

Re: GMAT: March Madness Edition: Official 2012 FA thread
The Indiana Pacers are delighted to announce the re-signing of Roy Hibbert. Roy has cemented himself as a top 5 Center this season, and has a unique dedication to the game as evidenced by his nutritionalist who is continually adapting his diet to help him reach his full physical potential.
The contract is a little higher than we hoped, but having a lower than max starting value preserves our flexibility for the remainder of FA. Details as follows:
$12.5m / $13.437m / $14.375m / $15.31m / $16.25m

There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

The NY Knicks are pleased to announce that they have agreed to term to resign PG Deron Williams to a new 5 year MAX contract. The people at MSG will be having a press conference this evening, but since its already been posted on Twitter, we just wanted to confirm.

The 5 years contract will total $103.5 mil [$18,000,000 / $19,350,000 / $20,700,000 / $22,050,000 / $23,400,000 (ETO) ]
It is also being confirmed that teammates Kevin Durant, Al Jefferson, DeAndre Jordan, Tony Allen, Udonis Haslem and LaVoy Allen will all be in attendance. (Grevious Vasquez and Timofey Mozgov are both out of the country and unable to attend)

Confirmed. Some other good offers that made me think about it but in the end it wasn't the most difficult choice in the world.

Re: GMAT: March Madness Edition: Official 2012 FA thread
Atlanta Hawks have signed an offer sheet to...

DJ Augustin!
9.3M
9.1M
8.9M
8.7M
4 years, 36M
There's a few reasons I targeted Augustin. First, he can shoot the ball, which is a requirement of playing next to Evans. Second, he can make plays by scoring and passing when Evans is out, or while playing next to Evans. Third, he can run the P&R with Monroe very well. And Fourth, I VERY much doubt that Houston will pay him 9.3M to be a backup, when he has 2 other starting-caliber PGs on his team.
Houston has 12 hours to match.

Chicago is pleased to announce that Nic Batum has signed an offer sheet. Terms of the deal are as follows:

$15,000,000
$15,675,000
$16,350,000 (PO)
$17,025,000 (ETO)
Total: 4 years, $64,050,000
We feel Nic is one of the best two-way SG/SFs, if not in the league, for his age group, and are more than willing to pay for his services. There's no question in our minds that he, along with Derrick Rose would form THE most dominant back court in the league. We like that Nic can handle the ball well, hit open shots and mix it up with a little slashing. Most of all we look forward to his play on the other end of the floor; his defense, rebounding and team play will make him one of the best for years to come.

Since CHI presents such an attractive S&T opportunity, the New Jersey Nets reluctantly match the outrageous contract offered to Nic Batum, who we value but realize he will remain a Net for the next 4 years with this deal. Welcome back Nic!! - Now score and defend your ass off
