Bench
Rotation:Steve Nash [34]/Baron Davis [10]/Jamal Crawford [4]
Ray Allen [34]/Jamal Crawford [14]
Nicolas Batum [40]/Matt Barnes [8]
Blake Griffin [37]/David Lee [11]
DeAndre Jordan [35]/David Lee [13]
Gameplan:Offensively, we're going to spread the floor with three dead-eye shooters in Nash, Allen, and Batum. Nash and Batum both shoot 40% from distance and Ray a ridiculous 45%. Batum and Allen will be run off of screens to get open looks from the best pure passer in the NBA - Steve Nash. Blake Griffin is already an extraordinary passer from the post and will look to throw it back out to Steve, Ray, or Nic when the double comes. If he is played straight up, he will score at a high rate. David Lee is a 20 ppg scorer, Jamal Crawford won the 6th man award for offense off the bench, and DeAndre Jordan shoots 63% from the field with tip ins and a steady diet of lobs. We have 4 incredibly skilled players (though no one is worse than average) offensively all being fed by Steve Nash, who is the most creative, consistent, and excellent offensive point guard in basketball.
Defensively, we are not as strong. Fortunately, their only huge threat to burn us is Kevin Durant. He will get his, even though we have a quick, lengthy, and smart defender in Batum sticking him nearly the entire game. Morrow and Frye had very poor shooting years and have never been more than "nice" players. They won't decide the outcome of a 7 game series. Mbah a Moute, Varejao, and Lowry are all average offensive players. We know KD is going to score 30. The key is to not let any of the other players go off. The same can't be said for my team. Nash, Allen, Batum, Blake, Crawford and Lee can all score 20 every single game. Pack the paint on Griffin and we'll rain 3s like it's cool.
Nash v LowryLowry is a good defensive point guard, but I don't think that Steve Nash cares. In 4 games against Houston this year, Nash averaged 10/10 on 58% shooting. Nash is more seasoned, more intelligent, and more talented than Kyle Lowry. If Lowry doesn't know what it's like to get burned by a 2-time MVP and hall of famer, he's going to learn today. Defensively, Nash is not a stopper. However, Lowry only averaged 10/5 on 36% shooting against Phoenix this year. Take that how you will.
Allen v MorrowSimple game plan. Stay in front of your man and keep a hand in his face. Morrow shot 37% from 3. He's decent, but he isn't a killer. He's not Ray Allen.
Batum v DurantDurant is half-man, half-amazing. He's going to score his 25 or 30 points no matter who defends him. Nic has the length and speed to keep up with Kevin, if not slow him down. He's going to try to deny him the ball as much as possible. Kevin will have to work on and off the ball. He's young, but going 100% for 43 minutes a night will take it's toll, we believe, by the time games 5, 6, 7 roll around.
Blake v FryeWe're not going to pull our best rim-protector out of the paint, so Blake will guard Channing. Frye can be shut down like this - don't leave him open. It's really, really simple. His offensive game is entirely the jump shot. Blake will have to play close to the perimeter which hurts his rebounding, but we'll make up for that by having Nic the guards crash the boards. Blake, on the other hand, will use his speed and athleticism to create a fast break on every missed shot. He's going to get some easy highlight jams like this.
Jordan v VarejaoAnderson isn't the biggest offensive threat in the world, so Jordan only needs to not let him be wide open for jams or short jumpers. Aside from that, he'll just be protecting the basket. Nothing comes easy when you have an elite shot blocker between you and a lay in.
Summary
I have an elite offensive team. Outside of Seattle, no one can score at the same rate. Milwaukee plays good defense, but it won't be enough. They are mediocre offensively, relying almost entirely on one player to score. I can score the basketball from any position on the floor throughout the entire game. They say defense wins championships, but ultimately, it's about who puts the ball in the hole.
