Re: Christmas GMAT: 2013 FA
Ok, sent few emails to Karma and mentioned to spree8 but went unanswered several times.
What is goin' on w/ Paul Pierce???
He had an opt out in his 2013 contract and was not mentioned in the OPT IN's list in FA.
Did he opt out or not?

His 13/14 salary is UNG, so if the team chooses to waive him they can, but DEN didn't, so I see no reason to believe he would be a FA. Just my take. http://data.shamsports.com/content/page ... eltics.jsp. Shows there its UNG.

This is the first I've heard from you in FA. Never received any emails or aim messages from you...pretty much the whole game too. Nothing in my spam/junk mail either. Everyone else is getting ahold of me and getting responses constantly as I have email and aim on my comp and phone soooo...sounds like something's wrong on your end.

An omission on my part. He opted IN.

Damn, if I were these guys' real agent, I'd be stoked right now.
A lot of back and forth, but the players have made their decisions.
Josh Smith signs with the Boston Celtics for a four-year, maximum contract with a player option.
Al Jefferson re-signs with the Detroit Pistons for a five-year, maximum contract.
Paul Millsap signs with the Washington Wizards for a four-year, maximum contract.
A lot of back and forth, but the players have made their decisions.
Josh Smith signs with the Boston Celtics for a four-year, maximum contract with a player option.
Smoove had quite a few offers on the table, but ultimately went with the highest annual salary, security (NT clause), and flexibility. He thinks he'll fit in great with Boston and feels very valued by the franchise.
Al Jefferson re-signs with the Detroit Pistons for a five-year, maximum contract.
Al couldn't turn down a five-year max deal and the chance to stay on with his team. He feels good in Detroit and is looking forward to the next season.
Paul Millsap signs with the Washington Wizards for a four-year, maximum contract.
This was a no-brainer for Millsap. After being underpaid his entire career, he decided to take the best money on the table, along with the best long-term security.

Re: Christmas GMAT: 2013 FA
For me with Smith it came down to this. Is his production worth $18m? No. But is it worth more than Jeff Green and Brandon Bass? Absolutely.
I feel at times Smith is underrated as a player. He's struggled somewhat offensively - in part to a poor shot selection; but he's never played with a facilitator as good as Lillard; and advanced statisticians will tell you he's been consistently in the top 10 in Adjusted Plus & Minus (holding elite company with Dirk, LeBron, Paul etc). He even kept the Hawks respectable without Horford last year. At the very least, he's one of the best defensive players at his position; a capable athlete, a very good passer, shotblocker and a decent rebounder. He's healthy; we can afford him.. Oh and he's a perfect fit next to Monroe, too.
And here was my pitch prior to upping my offer to max: (no offence, NYK and CHI):
Oh and here's an extract from a Josh Smith interview, May 2012:
“When you’re playing in an environment like the Boston Garden, they have probably the best fans,” Smith paused, and then thought better of completely throwing Atlanta fans under the bus, adding, “some of the best fans in the whole entire league. Like I said before, I was a little jealous, you know what I mean?
“The fans out here are so supportive of their team,” he said. “You go out and look in the stands, there’s nothing but Celtics jerseys and I don’t see a trace of red in there, you know what I mean? Understanding that the fans are that passionate, it adds an extra advantage for them. A bad shot can be as good as a turnover when you’re playing against a team like Boston, especially with the fanbase that they have.”

Re: Christmas GMAT: 2013 FA
Since I never did a proper post.
AP - 1/7/2013 - 11:00 AM
- DWIGHT HOWARD TAKES HIS TALENTS TO SOUTH BEACH
Yes, there is another primadona drama queen going to Miami. He goes by the name of Dwight Howard. He will be teaming up with the world's best basketball player in Mr. Lebron James. Dwight was quoted as saying "It was a tough decision, but in the end, I want to be winning championships for a long time, and not give myself just a 1/2 year window. I love that fact that I get to play with Russell Westbrook and Lebron James, and have a better fit of a big man to pair with me in Kenneth Faried."
This comes on the heals of the teams general manager trading away the teams perenial star Dwayne Wade for Russell Westbrook. The risky GM was also called into question when he traded away Roy Hibbert and Danny Granger for cap space and Faried. Ness was quoted as saying "Eastern conference finals just ain't gonna cut it." "To be the best, you have to have the best, and We paired the best player in the game, with the best big in the game."
The Miami Heats seasons starts October 12th 2013 where the team looks to get back to the finals and this time win. 3 finals apperence's in 3 years is great, but with only one title to show for it, it was time for this franchise to shake things up, .....for the better.

That looks like how things went for me last game. I almost didn't even land a tier 3 guy but finally did get one.

Kevin Martin and Manu have now signed.
Tier 3 offers now can be sent my way. IF you sent a tier 3 offer in already it has been deleted as it was before time to send in.

No offense bud, but you don't have the type of players that attract FA's.
Why play with Zeller and Thabo when you can play with Bosh and George
Or with Joe Johnson and and Andrew Bogut
Just lookin out for you, I wouldn't have paid that kinda money to any of those guys anyways, so it's prolly a blessing you didn't get them.

Re: Christmas GMAT: 2013 FA
Hey guys, my email on Hotmail has been down for the past couple hours...had to create a new one with gmail after failed attempts with yahoo too...not sure wth went wrong, but couldn't even send emails from my iphone too. I'll be sending emails in regards to rfa's who have signed, and some that are still waiting on a few gm's to refigure finances since they've signed other FA's. This group doesn't necessarily have to be finished today at noon, especially since there are quite a few who I haven't even received offers on at all, like Tyreke Evans for example. So there's still time.
Edit: btw that email where you can reach me is at Scarface87073@gmail.com..and of course aim.

Re: Christmas GMAT: 2013 FA
Just getting a chance to post.
Utah announces the signing of their free agent center, Andrew Bynum.
5 years, $103,500,000, 5th year a PO as well.
$18,000,000 / $19,350,000 / $20,700,000 / $22,050,000 / $23,400,000
Bynum is a main cog to our team. When he's healthy he's easily the 2nd best center in the NBA, providing a huge asset down in the post with his size/length and strength.

more like not enough money offered compared to what else was offered by others.
When players are treated as assets and traded like crazy, money talks plain and simple.
IF money offers are equal THEN team situation comes into play.
