Rules

- Once the clock starts each manager will have a maximum of 3 hours to make their pick. If you fail to meet this deadline you go to the end of the order for that round or can jump in anytime before that to pick. (NOTE: The clock stops at midnight to 9 AM EDT.)

- After you make your pick, please quote or PM the person after you in the order to let them know it's their turn.

- We are using a modified snake draft order: ABBAABBA

- All FGA and other relevant stats will be taken from basketball-reference.com. Remember that there is a 0.86 multiplier for any season chosen before 1976-77 (end of the ABA). For example, if you want to use Oscar Robertson's triple double season in 1961-62, instead of counting for 22.9 FGAs, he would count for 19.7 FGAs towards 88. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

- If you don't think you'll be around when it's your pick, please PM a shortlist to myself and I will gladly pick for you.

- Please post draft picks only in this thread. If you want to hype up your pick and/or quote the next person please do everything in one post. Another thread will be started for general discussion.

- Any player from the 1949-50 season to the 2015-16 season is eligible.

I'm not sure if this is really a rule, but I like the pictures so go ahead and post one along with your pick. 8-)

Good luck everyone!

Well I normally like to start with a big man but I'll make an exception this time...

Wilt Chamberlain

No clue what season I'm going to use yet. Though his 67' season looks very appealing when you factor in the 0.86 multiplier.

Magic Johnson

I thought about going with a guy I haven't worked with before, but I had to go Magic man. He's the best and just too fun to build around.

Magic ought to start going number 1. If you just want to look at talent pg is the weakest position of all time. The gaps between Magic and the next best pgs are astronomical, or you can play him at sf (which is the hardest position to find a good player who doesn't take a lot of FGA in the later rounds), where he would probably play today and his FGA value is ridiculous.

This guy seems like a pretty good value at #10, even in a deep draft.

Bill Walton. He brings elite passing and defense from the center position, and I just have a feeling he's gonna be fun to build around.

Going to try a build around a guy I have never had before. I'm actually very surprised @ 15 he's still here:

Larry "The Legend" Bird.

He's not white, he's clear.

Got the elite defensive man in the middle my team needs, now lets grab a top shelf number one option with great clutch performing credentials. There are two obvious answers here in terms of options, had a hard time picking between them.

Going with Jerry West. Has the positional flexibility to play either guard position with equal effectiveness, is an elite scorer and an absolutely deathly playoff performer.

Image

Love the flexibility he affords my team, and he's an absolutely elite 2-way option.

Ugh. Still reeling off that west pick, I knew you were gonna break my heart Snakebites.

This is a pick I probably have to do, although I don't really want to...

Gimme Dr. J

Image

I'm definitely taking Erving's peak, the fast break with Walton/Erving is drool-worthy, and I think the Doctor can figure it out in the half-court, I mean he did it with Moses later on in his career.

Yeah. this is the right pick. Now let's hope I get a nice drop in the third.
