Write Up
Obviously Lilroddyb's team is built around LeBron. No one can stop LeBron. Defensively, we are playing Durant a little more at the 4 but ultimately, we are ok with Davis guarding LeBron. He won't stop him but he can stay in front of him and contest shots. Camby's minutes are reduced in this contest as Bosh/Davis can do fine against Zo. Roy is probably the 2nd best creator on his team and I have Battier/Conley as defensive weapons off the bench to handle his scoring as the 6 man.

Offensively, Durant will have a field day against Vince Carter. Carter is 6'6", maybe 6'7" while Durant is a legit 6'11"/7'. He can shoot over VC, drive past him, and basically score at will anytime we need a bucket. Green/Porter are solid defenders but Penny/Ray can score on anyone. Zo will do solid on Bosh. However, Davis should be able to score well against LeBron. LeBron is a good defender but Davis is a different animal than the players he normally guards. It should be pointed out that LeBron never guarded PFs for Miami except rare occasions. Battier guarded PFs while LeBron stayed on the perimeter.

Additionally, I expect my team to dominate the boards. Durant/Davis/Bosh has tremendous length in the front court and all are excellent rebounders. Penny will even add to this. I will be able to hold my opponent to one shot while getting 2nd chances which could make the difference.

Finally, my opponent likes to talk up his shooting but I will point out that I have Durant and Ray Allen, 2 of the best shooters of all time with solid 3PT shooters in Penny/Battier/Conley joining them and excellent mid-range shooters in Davis and Bosh.

Overall, I think my team has clear advantage at every position besides PF and C. For C, I don't expect Zo or Divac to really take over a game. I actually expect to get more scoring at C with Bosh/Davis and a little bit of Camby. At PF, LeBron is LeBron. He is great but he will struggle guarding Davis as well. I don't think LeBron will be enough to overcome my edge in the backcourt.

Offense same old same old.

The offense will be same as in last matchups, Lebron will be running the show with help from other playmakers that can bring the ball up the court. Alonzo mourning will set screens to free up up shooters ( that will be running around and freeing themselves up like VC/Danny Green etc.. ) or be used in pick and rolls. Shooters will spread the floor for everyone so there will be lots of space for Lebron and co to work. The ball will move a lot since I have lots of smart passers and unselfish players like Lebron, Millsap, Vlade, VC, BRoy and Terry, and most of them can go of if needed. I also have elite athletes that will be terrifying on the break like lebron and VC with shooters running with them.

sixth man like in the other matchups will be Brandon Roy and he played extremly well in the playoffs vs Shane Battier and Ron Artest so I see him repeating that feat.


I know Bdregt has some advantages over mine team like rebounding so I want to focus a bit about threepoint shooting to show that my team also has some clear advantages

Defense:

We know that Lebron alone can make team defense fine, now you add alltime great defender in Alonzo and great ones in Vlade, Paul Millsap and Danny and the defense is guaranteed to be great. Terry porter and VC were solid defenders during the playoffs. And many of my guys can guard multiple positions so switching will be fine for my team.

Alonzo Mourning guards the Center
Lebron Guards the AD
Danny Green guards Kevin Durant, He is a long defender and great defender and will give him some problems.
Vince Carter guards Penny has the size, strength and quickness to bother him, and Penny wont have easy time posting him up, and since Penny isn't good threepoint shooter it will bring VC closer to the paint to help out other players.
Terry Porter guards Ray Allen, he is big for a pointguard.

conclusion
I think my team can win this mathchup great complimentary pieces next to lebron, much better spacing, players that really stepped their game during the playoffs, great playmaking and passing and good defense. Even if Bdregt thinks that he has clear advantage over most position but I dont agree, VC is kind of even to Ray Allen and Broy was similar to Penny and co imo. Bdregt if you see any mistakes with my numbers please let me know and do an rebuttal if you want to change something in your lineup etc...

Quick rebuttal...is lilroddyb really arguing that KD and Ray Allen aren't the 2 best shooters in this series? I don't care what the percentages say but anyone who has watched basketball know they are the best shooters. They just take more challenging 3PT shots when needed versus a guy like Danny Green, etc. No offense lilroddyb but attacking my team for 3PT shooting seems a little crazy to me. Everyone knows they'd rather have Ray Allen or KD taking an open 3 versus Danny Green or Vince Carter.

Good luck. I like your team overall just find that a crazy point to argue as your clear edge.

I can see your point, Just want to point out that even if you have a great threepoint shooting team I feel like mine is better. Didn't mean to insult or anything and it's not just Danny and VC, its also Terry porter, Brandon Roy, Paul millsap and Lebron

I think BdeRegt's quartet of superstars will be harder to stop. AD guarding LeBron and LeBron guarding AD will put an awful lot of wear on LeBron over the course of the series.

I can't help but think BR's defense would be better with KD guarding Lebron instead of AD. However, I think there are just too many offensive options for roddy's team to reliably stop. I see this ending up as a bit of a shootout and I trust BdeRegt's impressive arsenal of offensive firepower a bit more.

My vote (provided I have one) goes to Roddy B.

BD's defense leave a lot to be desired. Terrific offense but... the best defender among the starters is Kevin Durant. 2010 Bosh hadnt really figured out that side of the ball in that year, Davis is raw and would be a little exposed on offensive stars he's not equipped to guard. I could see Lebron and Zo really imposing their will.

LeBron vs AD is a mismatch either way, but I'm more concerned about it from BdeRegt's side when he has a 6'10" PF guarding the greatest SF of all time at the peak of his powers. Durant is much taller than just about anyone who guards him but he's still had some difficulties against guys Green's size or smaller, so I wouldn't assume KD will roast him easily. Agree with pel that roddy is stronger defensively, especially with Zo facing off against Bosh in the middle, and since these are the 2 most potent offenses in the game that gives him the edge.

Yeah, attacking a team with conley/durant/allen/battier for its 3 point shooting is a strange business. I also have to object to roddys continued assertion that Mourning is an all time great defender and makes his team defense awesome. 00 Mourning is arguably that guy, 95 Mourning is really not. Hed never made an all defensive team and his metrics were nowhere near what theyd become. With that in mind i just dont see how roddy contains the insane firepower of bderegts team. He built a great team around lebron but its not enough here.

Given this is 2016 Durant who stepped up his defense, I would think putting him on LeBron would be a better choice than having one of the better interior shot blockers in Davis chasing him around on the perimeter. Davis's quickness advantage over other bigs don't apply here against LeBron. I would strongly disagree with damecurry in that Mourning is most definitely a very strong rim protector in 1996. Both team have very good outside shoooting but the difference comes down to the interior defense. LeBron can collapse BdeRegt's defense especially with a weak defensive center like Bosh and this just gives up too much open 3s for lilroddyb's outside shooters. Vote: lilroddyb

I really like lilroddyb's Lebron-centric design, but BdeRegt takes this from a top-to-bottom talent standpoint. So much offensive fire power and Penny would be a nightmare for Porter to guard. Well done to both of you though

You think 96 Mourning is an "all-time great defender?" Because that's the claim roddy made that I was refuting. I didn't say the guy was chopped liver but there's a reason 96 Mourning didn't make an all defensive team and 99/00 Mourning won back to back DPOY. 96 Mourning was a very good rim-protector I do not disagree with that, he was not an all time great defender.

To the point about Durant on LeBron, he will guard him some when I go small. I agree he is best defender I have for LeBron but I didn't want Davis on Carter, Roy, Green. Credit to lilroddyb as he gives me some tough match ups with his small ball lineup as I give him some difficulties with my line up.
