Welcome to the Tournament Of Runner-Ups Draft!

Draft Rules:

1. Only seasons in which the given player lost in the finals are eligible to be chosen. All NBA and ABA seasons are available but any player you select must have been part of a team that lost in the finals in THAT year. Please keep this in mind as you make your selections, being a runner-up is not enough in itself, you have to select one of the seasons in which they actually were runners-up. Additionally the player selected must have played minutes in that playoff season as well, no cheap-skate drafting a player who was technically on a runner-up but didn't play for them, he has to have been a contributor in the playoff run.

2. The winner of the draft will be determined by way of a 16-team playoff tournament (see playoff rules).

3. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players. There will be no trading. However, you can swap your draft pick position with somebody else before the draft begins if you wish to do so.

4. You must state the specific season of the player you choose to draft. You don't have to do it right away when you make your selection but you must state it on your team roster page before the playoff tournament begins.

5. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 90.0 FGA corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player.

6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBABABA

7. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If a participant does not make a pick within 2 hours, they can make their pick whenever. A participant who has back to back or consecutive picks will have both full windows to make their picks. A participant who misses 2 consecutive picks may be replaced. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM/email your selection/list to myself (wallengms@gamil.com) or another participant...I strongly urge this so that the draft can move in a timely manner.

8. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EST.

9. Draft order will be completely randomized via random.org and will be posted once the 16 slots are fill.

10. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock, which will start their 2 hour period.

11. If you use a season of a player from before the NBA/ABA merger (1975-76 and before), multiply that player's FGA by 0.85.

OK, just needed to get home and check a few numbers before I made this pick:

LeBron James

His playoff and Finals numbers in 2014 may actually have been better than the year before. Miami lost that series for a number of reasons but he wasn't one of them. I've only had him once and didn't do so hot, let's see if I can make some noise this time.

On phone so no pic. Im gonna take:

Wilt Chamberlain.

Honestly unsure if Ill take his 64 season when he was a super dominant force or the 73 season when he was well past prime but cost like 6 FGA and produced 13/18/5. Thats what I like about him though, can play the field and adjust according to whats available to me.

Pretty much a coin flip for me, but I don't think I've had Cap.

Several guys I considered here, but they were mostly pre and post prime. Ultimately I think this guy is an all time great and in his MVP prime. I'll go with Larry Bird.
