Correct. The idea is to make us lean more heavily on our forgotten star.

BTW, because of the late start tonight the clock won't be starting until Monday.

Durant is still going too high imo. I mean I get why, his versatility, low FGA for his position, but there are a lot of players remaining that are like top 10 peak type players. Im not really sure the 1.2 you save in FGA over his 2013 season is worth as many draft spots as he improves.

I think I agree that Durant has been going really high. I used to be very against him being a top 10ish pick, but he has been growing on me in recent games. There are certain guys I would still take over him in this instance, but I can now at least see the logic behind it.

I thought Mark Aguirre was better than at least one or two of the high scoring small forwards on that forgotten stars list.

Was hoping to see him there.

Ah well, can't fit everybody.

I can See why some have issues with Durant going this high but imo its a fine spot he is really good ofball player, fits into any system, spaces the floor, is a great defender( can guard multiple positions) and he is one of the best/efficient volume scorer the nba has ever seen.

Yeah one or two others came to me after we started, too. I wouldn't have objected to more on the list, but probably shouldn't add any now since we have started drafting.

I seriously considered Mike, LeBron, Wilt and Magic at #1. Wilt and Magic because FGAs will be tight, Mike and LeBron because they're Mike and LeBron.

Kawhi seems to be going earlier and earlier as well. I personally like Durant a lot more than Kawhi although I think Bird is still better than both.

I was hoping for a more "fun" pick than Duncan but the value was too good to pass up, especially in a draft where FGA economy looks to be fairly important.

Timmy is pretty easy to build around because he can play with a variety of different bigs and doesn't break the bank, but he's not the most exciting and it's tough to get too creative with him as your centerpiece, which I guess is why guys like Durant (who offers huge potential for creativity despite not having the same impact) get picked first.

Duncan translates well though.

I wonder if the relative value of a KG or a Duncan goes down in these heavily FGA restricted games compared to a wing like Durant, considering the average FGA for an impactful big is generally lower than that of an impactful wing

That's always been somewhat true. I still think there's a special premium on elite defensive bigs who can do more on offense than bang inside.

I still wouldn't take Durant over Duncan, nor would I go Kawhii over another player.
