Forgotten Stars R1 - OrlandoTill vs. lilroddyb*

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Fri Aug 11, 2017 5:16 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player (8 minute minimum in effect)
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on roster page).

Team Triplets Towers

Rotation

Deandre Jordan 34 min / Andrew Bogut 14 min
Anthony Davis 40 min / Nick Collison 8min
Kevin Durant 40 min / James Harden 8 min
Nate McMillan 20 min / James Harden 28 min
Gilbert Arenas 38 min / Nate McMillan 10

year/ player / fga

17 Kevin Durant 16.5
12 James Harden 10.1
94 Nate McMillan 5.4
06 Gilbert Arenas---
15 Anthony Davis 17.6
15 Deandre Jordan 6.5
12 Nick Collison 3.2
15 Andrew Bogut 5.3

Best of luck to you Orlando you build a great team around Shaq.

Offense.

I have 4 elite offensive players in Durant, Davis, Harden and Gilbert Arenas. Durant and Davis will be my main scorers, they are elite offball players and are one of the most efficient volume scorers you can find, both of them score so effortlessly and are a nightmare to guard. Harden and Arenas will run pick and rolls/pops with Durant, Davis and Deandre Jordan. Deandre Jordan , Bogut and Nick Collison are elite screensetters and will free up my guys. I expect Deandre to score efficiently with lops and putbacks same with Bogut. Bogut will also help a lot with his passing. I have good shooters that will spread the floor for my guys in Harden, McMillan, Arenas and Durant who are all good threepointshooters. Harden will be my sixth man

Defense
My main concern is Shaq but luckily I think I have the team to contain him. I have two big and strong centers in Deandre Jordan and Andrew Bogut that will be guarding Shaq at all times. Anthony Davis will be guarding Elvin Hayes, Durant will be guarding Shane Battier. Nate will guard Grant Hill and Arenas will guard Mo. All my guys are elite defenders outsite of Arenas and Harden so the defense should be really great.

Overall
I think my team is well equipped to contain Shaq with Deandre/ bogut and the other seven( or close to 7footers) on my team in Davis and Durant that can also help with Shaq by fronting him to make it difficult for him to get the ball. Shaq has had difficulties with pick and roll defense before so I think he would be in a big trouble defending the pick and rolls with Arenas/Harden/Durant/Davis. I also think my team has better shooters overall and more efficient scorers.

Forgotten Star: 1975 Elvin Hayes

1982 Maurice Cheeks 8.6
1997 Grant Hill 15.7
2009 Shane Battier 5.9
1992 Charles Oakley 4.9
2000 Shaquille O'Neal 21.1
2001 Brent Barry 6
2016 Luc Mbah a Moute 2.8
FGAs 65/65

PG Cheeks(30)/Hill(18)
SG Hill(22)/Barry(26)
SF Battier(32)/(12)Mbah a Moute/(4)Barry
PF Hayes(40)/(4)Mbah a Moute/(4)Oakley
C Shaq(40)/Oakley(8)

General Write-up

Offense
We are bringing a top 3 peak in Peak Shaq to anchor our offense. Hill can facilitate the offense when the ball is not in Shaq's hands. Cheeks and Barry can provide playmaking as well. Barry, Battier and Mbah a Moute are here for spacing. Our forgotten star can take advantage with his post up offense.

Defense
We have Peak Shaq with a load of great defenders. We are bringing an All-Defensive 2nd team in our Forgotten Star. Between Oakley(2nd best defender in the 2nd best defense in the league), Shaq(DPOY candidate), and Hayes(2nd best defender on best defensive team in chosen year) the interior should be a hazard zone. For the perimeter we have Cheeks, Hill, Battier and Mbah a Moute to check wings.

Good luck to lilroddyb

The shooting of lilroddyb should be too much to overcome. I question OT's offense.

OT's advantage inside is pretty sizeable. I'm not sold on McMillan guarding Grant Hill. Durant and Gil will have solid series, but it won't be enough.

A Hill/Barry backcourt is really going to struggle with quickness of lilroddybs team. I think both teams drafted more big men to make FGAs work preventing them from best potential lineups.

Truthfully I only know a few things about Elvin Hayes, and they are mostly not positive. He didn't like to share the post, didn't pass the ball a lot, and it seems like they won a ring despite an uneven performance from him. Certainly very talented 2 way player and his defense is great, but I think the fit with Shaq offensively isn't the best.

Lilly's team seems to fit better. I actually like Arenas with Durant and Harden as the ball pusher off the bench.

Vote Lilly.

Close, but i'll go OT. His perimeter is a pretty decent counter to roddy's and Shaq will be the difference.

Vote OT.

I like how roddy integrated guys like McMillan/DeAndre/Bogut as effective complements to his volume scorers. OT's front court is fearsome but the length of AD/KD as help defenders should help to tame his big guns. It's close but...
