Write-upLet me defend my bench real quick:
- People forget Chandler was MUCH better his last 2 years in CHI; in the chosen season he put up a better DBPM and DWS than he did in his DPOY season
- Other than volume, you'd be hard pressed to find any statistical category Beverley was worse at during his rookie campaign. Advances stats suggest it was his most effective year to date.
- Obviously this version of Mullin had lost a step (otherwise he'd be in my SL) but he was still an extremely efficient scorer. His 2.2 BPM was hardly a fluke, a number that he upped to 3.6 during the playoffs.
- All 3 bench players will see less time on the court than what they averaged during their chosen seasons.
Defensive match-ups:
- DWade will match up with Curry but will receive 16 minutes of relief from Beverley
- Marion gets to frustrate the hell out of Melo
- Magic, who was actually a solid defender in his early years, will take on his old friend/nemesis Larry Legend
- Korver hides on Green
- Amar'e faces off against Gilmore but will receive 20 minutes of relief from Chandler
General Strategy:
We decided to throw Amar'e back in the SL, where he will return to his expected workload. My philosophy is that, despite a tough match-up in Gilmore, Amar'e will do just as much damage on offense. Gilmore wasn't heralded for his quickness/mobility, and that should hurt him here.
More importantly, Magic will devour Curry when they match-up. We will continue to rely on the fast break, an area I'm not convinced Bde is equipped to defend.
This one has the makings of an offensive showdown and I know my team is up for the challenge. Good luck Bde, you've built a nice team.
