THE FAMILY AFFAIR DRAFT

Draft Rules:

1. Subject to the rules to be set out below, players from the 1969-70 season to the 2016-17 season will be available to be drafted. You can draft players that came into the league before 1969 but the season you choose can't be before 1969-70.

2. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players.

3. All of your players must have a blood relation who played at least one NBA/ABA game. This game may have been played at any time, including prior to the 1969-70 season.

4. We will use Basketball Reference as the source for relatives. They don't have a master list showing all the players who would be eligible, but they do indicate all relatives up to first cousins on a player's profile page. So to keep it simple, we will exclude second cousins from this pool.

5. Each player you select must have played at least 50% of regular season games in the season selected.

6. The winner of the draft will be determined by anonymous rankings. Looking for anywhere between 8 and 12 participants.

7. You must state the specific season of the player you choose to draft. You don't have to do it right away when you make your selection but you must state it on your team roster page before the playoff tournament begins.

8. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 90.0 FGA corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player.

9. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBABABA

10. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you still have not chosen a player by then, you will be skipped. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection to myself or another participant. NOTE: If you miss one pick and have failed to make it by the time your next pick comes around, you will be skipped.

11. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT.

12. Draft order will be completely randomised.

13. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock. You may not change your pick after it has been made, even if the next person in the order has not picked yet.

Team Roster Page Rules:

1. You will be responsible for creating a roster page for your fantasy team. Here are the things that you will be required to include on your roster page:

. Players
. Rotations
. Draft selections
. The most important of all, you must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is under the required 90.0 FGA

-All of the above must be completed before rankings are done.

I'll play if this gets enough traction but I'm also down for another's division game. I really liked that format.

The idea was really to run through it fairly quickly, hence fewer managers than usual. Maybe even simultaneously with another game. I'd also like to try another division draft.

Oh I missed the part about fewer participants. Well I'm down either way. Want me to start up a new division draft? I can get it up today or hold off.

It's all the same to me. My idea doesn't seem to be garnering much interest anyway.

I guess my concern with this one is that there simply might not be enough players, even an 8 team league requires 64 guys, and you need more than that to ensure everyone can hit the FGA requirement and build rotations.

It's also tough to research though I don't mind that too much.

Well I can promise you there are enough viable players for eight teams, but anything beyond that is probably stretching it. If there's any more interest I'll cap it at eight.

As far as research, it is a bit tougher but a quick Google search will give you most of the names which you can then verify on Basketball Reference. Would be nice to have some kind of definitive master list but the information is out there.

Personally I love researching for these, so it's not really an issue for me.

This will be right up your alley if that's the case. I've been finding a lot of connections I had absolutely no idea about. And this is even accounting for the fact that Basketball Reference doesn't seem to be 100% comprehensive with regards to things like second cousins.

Smash3 has requested to take my spot and I said sure since I'm in the other game.
