Re: The East Coast Draft SF1 - Fadeaway_J vs. poopdamoop
Starters
C - Moses Malone (1982-83)
PF - Horace Grant (1994-95)
SF - Paul Pierce (2007-08)
SG - Andre Iguodala (2011-12)
PG - Gilbert Arenas (2004-05)
Bench
C - Chris Andersen (2012-13)
F - Dave DeBusschere (1969-70)
G - Charlie Ward (1999-00)
Rotations
C - Malone (39), Andersen (9)
PF - Grant (36), DeBusschere (12)
SF - Pierce (30), DeBusschere (18)
SG - Iguodala (37), Pierce (8), Ward (3)
PG - Arenas (38), Ward (10)
Strategy
Our offensive attack revolves our Big Three of Moses, Pierce, and Arenas. Moses will benefit from a well-spaced floor, with Pierce and Arenas being major 3-point threats, Iguodala having the best outside shooting season of his career, and both PFs (Grant and DeBusschere) knocking down midrange jumpers with regularity. Zo is a great defender but Moses is the type of guy who wears down even the best centers over time with his relentless approach. Neither Arenas nor Hardaway will be much of a deterrent guarding the other, but Gil is the more explosive scorer and should come out on top there. Iguodala's playmaking ability will give Agent Zero more license to stay in attack mode which is when he's at his best.
Dr. J is obviously the primary threat for poop's squad, and we're fortunate to have an absolutely elite wing stopper at his athletic peak in Iguodala to contend with him. DeBusschere also has the versatility to switch onto the good doctor when poop goes small. Grant and DeBusschere are both excellent covers for Bosh given their mobility, and should also handle pick-and-rolls well. Our rotation is rounded out by another pair of plus defenders in Ward and Andersen. With seven of our eight players being at least above average defensively, we like our chances to slow down poop's potent offense and allow our heavy hitters to make the difference at the other end.
Good luck poop.

PG: '98 Tim Hardaway - 19/8/4/2, All-NBA 2nd
SG: '93 Steve Smith - 16/6/4, 40% 3PT
SF: '76 Julius Erving - 29/11/5/3/2, MVP, All-NBA 1st, All-D 1st, Finals MVP
PF: '13 Chris Bosh - 17/7/2, All-Star
C: '99 Alonzo Mourning - 20/11/4, DPOY, All-NBA 1st, All-D 2nd
B1: '08 Tony Allen - 7/2/2
B2: '15 Kyle Korver - 12/4/3, 50% 3PT, All-Star
B3: '10 Marcin Gortat - 4/4/1
Hardaway(38) / Smith(10)
Smith(22) / Allen(20) / Korver(6)
Erving(28) / Korver(20)
Bosh(36) / Erving(12)
Mourning(38) / Gortat(10)
Our team is built around the incredible performance of Dr. J in his absolute prime, where he put up 38/14/6/3/2 in the finals against one of the best defenders in all time in Bobby Jones. Iggy and Debusschere are great defenders, but there was simply no slowing down Dr. J in 1976, especially with the relatively weak rim protection that Moses and Grant offer. Alongside Erving, we have a number of talented offensive stars, including the proven combo of Tim Hardaway and Alonzo Mourning. We can take advantage of Arenas' poor defense and get Timmy into the paint fairly easily, with plenty of shooting and drop-off options for him to make use of. Bosh, Steve Smith, and Korver provide the spacing for my offense to him - KK in particular should get tons of open looks with the attention that my stars will draw, and his already impressive shooting numbers (49% from 3) mean he'll have a great time in this series.
On defense, we have a great cover for Moses in Zo, who's motor and shotblocking ability mean he can keep up with Moses and force him into some tough shots. Dr. J was All-D 1st as well, and should do a great job on Pierce. The only other major threat on Fade's team is Arenas, and while Hardaway isn't an elite stopper, we have the help defense in Zo and Erving (3 steals and 2 blocks per game this season) to cover for Timmy when he gets beat. Bosh is also an elite PnR defender, and Tony Allen will get plenty of time to harass Arenas when he's in the game. Iggy, Grant, and Debusschere are all solid role players, but none of them have the capability to impact an offense drastically, so Korver will never have to guard an elite offensive threat.
In summary, we have the best player in the series in prime Dr. J, we have a more well-rounded offensive team with a number of players who can go off, and we have elite defenders at key positions to slow down Fadeaway's big 3, which should give us the win here.
Good luck Fade

I'm not feeling the Moses/Arenas fit and I buy poop's argument of Erving being the best player in the series. Moses was great that season, but Doc has a cast with a better blend to support his game.

Re: The East Coast Draft SF1 - Fadeaway_J vs. poopdamoop
I think Fade's team is a little better on defense with Iguodala making the difference, and poop's a little better on offense with Bosh over Grant as an advantage there. Matchup wise Mourning on Moses and Iguodala/DeBusschere on Erving are both decent matchups. Hardaway and Arenas cancel out. Very tough for me. I'm going to say poopdamoop for now since I am less sure about how Arenas molds with the others than Hardaway who is more pass first and has chemistry with Mourning

yeah, Dr. J and Zo are the two best players in this matchup, and I really like poop's bench.

Went back and forth on this one but I'm going with Fade. Moses/PP/Arenas should combine for a potent offense and Iggy/Grant are 2 all-time great role players. Poop's team works well together but I trust Fade's guys- Moses in particular- to get it done during crunch time.

Re: The East Coast Draft SF1 - Fadeaway_J vs. poopdamoop
I gotta go with Fade here too. His offense is just too high powered with Moses, Pierce, and Arenas, despite having Zo & Doc guarding 2 of those 3.
In crunch time, Fade has the better players to step up and get crucial buckets in a close game imo.

I like poopdamoop's team here. Although he has a weak bench, Bosh and Hardaway are solid players and I'm not sold on a Big 3 with Gilbert Arenas.
