SF: Kirilenko (34) - Dantley (10) - West (4)
PF: Webber (34) - Robinson (14)
C: Robinson (24) - Ming (24)

Writeup:

We will take the game to Blazers' guys. Both Penny and AD are excellent post scorers and CP3 and Air Canada neither are really known for post defense. Also Webber, Robinson and Ming were great post scorers. Penny shot well from 3 in his sophomore year, Dantley/Webber/DRob are all atleast decent midrange shooters. There will be space to use post offense as my main focus.

Defensively, Kirilenko takes Vince while Dantley takes Mullin. I'm hoping Mullin will be used more as a spot up shooter so we can use him to hide Dantley. Penny has the size and athleticism to stop CP3. Kirilenko might be the best defender in this matchup. Webber and Robinson were both good defenders, LJ and Big Fundamentals won't get anything easy. Mario West might be a very bad basketball player, but he got all those minutes because he is a good defender.

All in all, I have the best offensive player, the best defensive player, best guard, best center, best rebounder, best overall player and good enough fit to win this. Also Duncan with 44 minutes, he will be too tired to guard any of Robinson/Webber/Ming. Vote janmagn!

1991-92 Larry Johnson(15.3 FGA) : 19.2 PPG , 11 RPG, 3.6 APG,1 SPG ; ROY

2001-02 Tyson Chandler (4.3 FGA) : 6.1 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 1.3 BPG,
2003-04 Luke Walton(2.1 FGA) : 2.4 PPG ,1.8 RPG, 1.6 APG
Total : 89.6/90

Rotation:

PG: Chris Paul(40) / Chris Mullin(6)/Vince Carter(2)
SG: Vince Carter (30)/Rudy Fernandez(16)/Chris Mullin(2)
SF: Chris Mullin (24)/Vince Carter(10)/Rudy Fernandez(10)/Luke Walton(4)
PF: Larry Johnson (38)/Tim Duncan(10)
C: Tim Duncan(34)/Tyson Chandler(14)

My team offense will be very balanced with Duncan dominating down low, Carter being the slasher/shooter, Mullin and Johnson giving me all around play , and Chris Paul running the offense . Tim Duncan is also a defensive beast (being 2nd all defensive team as a rookie) , and would give a very hard time to David Robinson , and Ming who would be slown down. Along with Duncan's great post game, and great defense would be his ability to grab rebounds (along with 3.3 on the offensive end) will really frustrate the opposition . Also while it may seem like 44 minutes is a lot , he averaged 39.1 Minutes per game in regular season , and over 41 in playoffs that year so I dont think it will be a problem .

Also another great player I have is Chris Paul who in his rookie year took his team from 18 wins to 35 wins despite the fact he didnt have good players around him that year and the fact they had to play in a different city that year . If he could improve the team under those circumstances imagine how much he could make this team better . Also his defense in my opinion should really slow down Penny Hardaway which would mean that Janmagn strategy of getting the ball to his twin towers would fail . My Main Scorer in this game will be Vince Carter who is the best scorer out of both our teams in the matchup , and his ability to drive to the basket along with stepping back and hitting the mid range shot will really tire out Dantley . Larry Johnson in my opinion would cancel out the advantage Chris Webber gives his team, and him being athletic at the time would force Janmagn Center's to guard him as well which could give Duncan or Carter an easy shot at the hoop.

Chris Mullin in my opinion would so easily out perform Kirilinko that that matchup would be an easy win for me. Along with the fact that Vince Carter will also play SF that will tire out Kirilinko really fast that he really would be a hindrance for Janmagn team. Also Rudy Fernedez ability to shoot 3s will spread out his defense meaning that , one of my other players could be open for shots. I also have a pretty good defense bench player in Tyson Chandler who in my opinion would be fresh enough to give bursts of lock down defense.

Tough Round 1 matchup, both are contenders. I don't love the fit of Dantley and AK as the wings beside Penny, Dantley is a ball stopper and AK will provide spacing issues. I like Blazers offensive starting lineup more with threats at every position, passing, spacing, post play. Roy and Yao off the bench is pretty devastating for jan though. Defensively jan has advantage because of AK while the rest of the team is fairly close. Matchup wise I think Blazers may have a hard time defending Roy and Dantley as his wing defense is not elite. I am not sure though that AK on Vince will work.

I feel Blazers starting lineup has more chemistry, rookie Dantley and Webber may bring some difficulties team concept wise. I'm overall really low on Dantley's career as a teammate. jan having Roy and Yao off the bench is his trump card though. I'll go with Blazers team bonding together and getting it done.

Penny Hardaway and Shaq took the Magic to the Finals, before the rest of the team choked. 90 DRob and 94 CWebb make for a beast combination of inside-out playing that will be tough to stop - CP3 and Tim Duncan are pretty good defensive match-ups, but I don't think Larry Johnson can handle CWebb. I don't think Vince Carter was that much better than Brandon Roy (despite the much larger role on his team).

Ultimately, I'm much higher on DRob as a rookie (24 years old) than Tim Duncan (21) and I think sophomore Penny has a slight edge over rookie CP3. Tim Duncan plays too many minutes.

It's pretty close between Penny and Paul, I don't think either will be the deciding factor though Penny was probably a touch better scorer at this point of their careers.

Carter and Dantley are both in strong seasons but Carter has slightly better numbers and probably fits his position better. However Carter will have Kirilenko on him.

Kirilenko had pretty strong rookie numbers and after all he was really great early in his career with maybe his 2nd and 3rd seasons being his best. Meanwhile Mullin didn't have the numbers yet, he didn't really break out until his 4th season.

Webber and Johnson seem pretty even, but I'd give a small edge to Jan's frontcourt with Robinson providing a bit more offense than Duncan.

I don't know who Mario West is and Roy wasn't a star in his rookie season, but Yao was pretty good in his. Rudy Fernandez was a good pick he had his season in his rookie year and knocked down 159 3's, a rarity for this player pool. Chandler was not quite ready at 19 but Walton at 23 did play some minutes for the 04 Lakers.

I think the Blazers have a better fit and are tougher to defend with Carter's and Fernandez's range and Larry's athleticism, but with Mullin not being very good yet, Jan has more depth with Yao. I think the big 3 of Robinson, Penny and Dantley bring enough offense versus Carter, Duncan and Paul, especially with the added depth and multiple defenders in Robinson and Kirilenko.

No disrespect to CP3, but sophomore Penny was an MVP contender. Both teams are oozing with talent. I don't love the Dantley Kirilenko pairing. Roy off of the bench is awesome. I probably would have started him over one of his other wings. Duncan playing 44 is a mistake. Ultimately, the Penny Robinson pairing does it for me here.
