Honestly I think just letting it lie until after the holidays might be the best way to revive this board. Everyone seems burnt out.

So... Does it even make sense trying to get another game going? Is the board on indefinite leave?

Idea for one short game: Only two rounds, its about drafting one current team and adding two players to that team. You can choose season for those two players but they can't be currently playing in the league.

in the first round you draft one current team 2018 - 2019 season ( could also use 2017 - 2018 season and skip GSW since they were tier above the rest in talent )

and in second round you draft two guys in a row that are not currently playing

fga don't matter, its only about adding two star players to your roster

So Golden State and other powerhouse teams will end up with the worst duos and the worst team ( maybe a team like Hornets ) could add Jordan and Shaq for example

Maybe the game would end up unbalanced but every team has their strengths and weaknesses so it could be fun to see which direction each team goes for

I think I'm going to start a game sometime today. If nobody signs up then so be it.

What about pairs of players that were drafted by the same franchise?

This is several months away, but after this season would be a good time to revisit the League of Nations concept. Two additional seasons worth of new and improved talent would be added. Giannis, Embiid, and Jokic would now be legit first round picks, and others like Kyrie, Gobert, and KAT have gone up a level. Plus I have a better idea for exceptions that wouldn't screw up the draft.

Sure.

Does anyone have any games that they are interested in playing? We only have the championship left of the current game, so time to start thinking about the next one.

I'm pretty much tapped out. Laimbeer is normally the ideas man and he's on hiatus.

Maybe something simple like a 2010s (2009-10 to now) draft?

-Birth month draft. Pick a player with a different birth month with every pick. It's not as fun since we only go 8 guys but it still might require some strategy.

-Trade draft. Regular 1990 onward draft but trades between drafters are allowed during and after the draft until rosters are finalized before voting.

I'm leaning toward the latter. We've never really done trades except for trading picks before the draft. Want to host it?

To be honest, I've never been a fan of the idea of trading picks. I wouldn't be interested in that particular game.

I believe I may have suggested this before, but what about a game where the total number of franchises your players have played for has to come in under a certain limit (say 25) for your entire roster?

Once you get past the first round or so it would definitely affect strategy. A lot of good supporting stars and role players become more costly than usual.

For birth month, how about you have to pick an adjacent month with your next pick?

I like the idea of trades, but the problem in the past has been someone getting fleeced and giving someone else an advantage very difficult to overcome. The last time the commish reserved the right to cancel lopsided trades and did just that on a particularly unbalanced deal, but the people involved in the trade got very upset.

I wouldn't mind doing something simple like a '10 to now as fade suggested. I've been wondering if game complexity has been deterring new players from joining. We had a solid turnout for the unrestricted draft.

What do you think about the franchise limit one? It would be fairly simple to tally franchises for individual players using their Basketball Reference pages.

I like the idea. I enjoyed the journeymen and the limited franchise games that we played last year. This is kind of a cool combination of the two.

The last time we tried a trade draft it quickly became disastrous
