100th FGA/Auction Draft Game: 20th Century Tournament of Winners Rosters
Please include this in your roster:
. Players/Franchise selections (remember 8 different franchises)
. Rotations/Depth Chart (all your players must play a minimum of 8 minutes)
. The most important of all, you must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is 85.0 FGAs or less. You can use the .85 multiplier on pre-merger seasons. You will round down if less than 5 or round up if greater than 5 (example 19.58 rounds to 19.6 while 19.52 rounds to 19.5).
. Write-ups for rankings if doing one/just for fun

Dennis (38) / Kobe (10)
Hayes (38) / Salley (10)
Russell (38) / Salley (10)
Writeup:
Defense wins championships. Dennis Scott is the only person in my starting 5 who isn't an elite defender. Yes this is pre-prime Kobe, but he fulfills his role here as the third/fourth option. Hayes/Russell down low is probably the best 2-way frontcourt in the game. Payton is likely the best defensive PG ever. Kobe will guard the opposing team's best wing.
Offensively, Hayes is a legit Number One option, and Gary Payton, Kobe Bryant, and Bill Russell provide solid support throughout. Dennis Scott is an elite 3 point shooter inserted to spread the floor. We will be tough to stop with so many options.

Write Up : Three MVP level players in the frontcourt make this a matchup nightmare There are no places to hide here, with the most dominant post player and most dominant stretch 4 ever. Handling the ball at point forward is Hawkins who was called the greatest SF ever in his time. He plays a similar roll to what Penny did. Good luck guarding McAdoo and Shaq without doubles.
Defense: Our guards are both All-D 1st, and should match up well against anyone. Hawkins was an athletic specimen. We've even got solid D off the bench

I have one of the most explosive big 3s on offense in KJ, Drexler and Malone. They are a good fit in the sense all are in their athletic prime which will allow them to continuously to put pressure the opponent. Johnson and Drexler are both great passers for their position which will allow them to run start fast breaks after they rebound and find each other or Malone for transition points. Johnson is a great pick and roll partner with Malone. Surrounding them on the perimeter I have two of the best 3 and D guys in this pool in Christie and Ward who is playing major minutes. Finally at center I have a defensive and rebounding beast in Thurmond who finished 2nd in MVP this season. He is known for being a GOAT level post defender and is likely well over 3 blks per game considering the first year they tracked blocks (74) he had 2.9 and was 32 and past his prime in other stats, while this season in 67 is his peak. Malone and Thurmond is a beastly frontcourt strength wise and should bully opponents. They also both have floor spacing. Rambis and Johnson are no slouches, Rambis is a efficient finisher and rebounder trusted on a stacked Lakers team and Johnson averages 5.3 blks per 36 minutes. I feel this team is a great combination of speed and power with shooters in the supporting cast.

SG Nick Anderson (36) / Charles Dudley (12)
SF Toni Kukoc (20) / Bob Gross (28)
PF Kevin McHale (40) / Toni Kukoc (8)

FGA
1998-99 Tim Duncan (Spurs): 16.9
1986-87 Kevin McHale (Celtics): 17
1998-99 Jason Kidd (Suns): 14

1975-76 Charles Dudley (Warriors): 4.3
1976-77 Bob Gross (Blazers): 8.7
1978-79 Kim Hughes (Nuggets): 2.2
84.9/85
Disclaimer: Charles Dudley. 6/3/3, 4.6 WS, 52.8% from the field. Neutral defender. Not a scrub
This team’s strengths are a little harder to discern, but I’ll walk you through it.
Our front court is truly sublime. Managed by Jason Kidd, they will do some damage.
They are surrounded by shooters Nick Anderson (41.5% from 3) and the inimitable Toni Kukoc. Championship version Bob Gross will come off our bench.
I’m not sure where we rank, but ‘99 Kidd and Duncan alone is a force to be reckoned with in this field. Add peak McHale to that. We’ll score and defend pretty well.

'97 Grant Hill - 15.7
'68 Jerry West - 15.5 (18.2)
'63 Sam Jones - 14.7 (17.2)
'99 Alonzo Mourning - 13.8
'99 Rasheed Wallace - 9.7
'96 Steve Kerr - 5.9
'87 Cedric Maxwell - 5.9
'91 Andrew Lang - 3.0
West (39) / Kerr (9)
Jones (32) / Kerr (16)
Hill (39) / Maxwell (9)
Wallace (32) / Maxwell (16)
Mourning (39) / Lang (9)
We have two elite offensive creators in West & Hill, and we flank them with athletes and shooters. In between the two is Sam Jones, one of the most clutch players ever and an excellent excellent shooter, even from long range. Seriously, go watch some highlights, the guy regularly made shots that would have been near or behind the three point line. In the frontcourt, we have Rasheed Wallace, who is excellent from mid range and still made use of his well-refined back to the basket game. We also have Cedric Maxwell, a great rebounder with one of the best free throw rates ever. Off the bench we bring Steve Kerr to give us just a little bit more long range shooting outside of West/Jones.
On defense, we are anchored by Alonzo Mourning. DPOY in '99, Zo has probably top-3 block timing ever along with Hakeem & Russell, and he's extremely strong for someone in his frame, to fight down low with the big boys. Sheed is another fantastic post defender, and he's quick enough to switch on the perimeter. Jerry West was 6'4" with a nearly 7' wingspan, who played passing lanes better than anybody and could stay in front of any opponent with his length and quickness. Everybody other than Steve Kerr is somewhere between well above average to elite on defense.
This team is loaded with playmakers and elite two-way players, with enough talent to push us through.

PG: Michael Cooper 85-86 7.4 FGA - (All Defensive Second, 5.7 APG, 38% 3 pt)
SG: Sidney Moncrief 81-82 13.3 FGA (DPOY, 13.4 WS, 60% TS, All Defensive 1st, All NBA 2nd)
SF: George Gervin 76-77 16.3 FGA (All NBA 2nd, 60% TS)
PF: Larry Bird 85-86 19.6 FGA (MVP, Finals MVP, 42% 3pt)
C: Bob Lanier 73-74 15.6 FGA (with Multiplier) (3rd in MVP Voting, 14.4 WS, 7.1 DWS, 2nd in NBA in VORP, BPM, DBPM)
Bench:
Ron Harper 96-97 5.3 FGA
Buck Williams 92-93 6.4 FGA
Tree Rollins 94-95 0.8 FGA
Total: 84.7 FGA
Cooper (20)/Moncrief (10)/Harper (18)
Moncrief (28)/Gervin (20)
Gervin (18)/Bird (15)/Cooper (15)
Bird (23)/Williams (25)
Lanier (40)/Rollins (8)
This is easily among the most potent teams in the game, and it hardly skimps on the defensive side of the ball either. Using Larry Bird at power forward for about 60% of his playing time allows us to create matchup problems on the offensive end while playing to his strengths as a defender as well (he was a pretty solid team and post defender). It also allows us to stretch the floor with him, Cooper, and Gervin all as effective shooters creating plenty of room to operate.
Bob Lanier is frankly the perfect center for this outfit as well. He can bang down as a low post player but also had a great mid range jumper and elite passing for a center to help supplement our offense.
Our balanced playmaking from every position makes Cooper- a capable passer used to playing off the ball, a very good point guard for our system. With Gervin, Moncrief, Bird, and Lanier we've frankly got enough firepower to take on anyone on that end of the ball, and guys like Cooper and Harper are exactly the complement we need to that.
Defensively we love that we have both Cooper and Moncrief to match up to our opponent's best perimeter threats. We've also got Buck Williams to help deal with the tougher power forwards in this game and Bob Lanier put together a very strong defensive season in the chosen year as well.
Thanks for your consideration!

Write-Up:
I built this team similar to one of the great all time teams in the history of the NBA in 1982-83 Sixers, but this team is on steroids. I built a team around Moses Malone where I he think can excel as the focal point offensively. I put Moses around arguably the greatest "robin" in Pippen. The spacing is great where Moses Malone can do his job inside. I have shooters all over the floor with Porter and even Pippen able to shoot the 3 point shot at a pretty good rate with high volume that year as well as Barry off the bench proving a spark: 41.5% for Porter, 37.4% Pippen, and 47.3% for Barry. Alex English and Charles Oakley are lethal mid-range shooters. Offensive rebounding is going to be key for my team with Oakley/Moses inside especially with their physicality. Porter, Pippen, English, and McCray will excel as playmakers. My offense is potent enough from top to bottom with Moses leading the way and English as a second option. Pippen and Porter are underrated options offensively as 3rd and 4th.
Defensively, I don't see anybody a liability on my team starting. Oakley/Malone were all-nba defensive first team defenders in their respective seasons providing stout front-court defense and elite rebounding. Manute Bol provides elite rim protection with near 3 blocks per game. Pippen is one of the greatest if not the greatest perimeter defender of all time. Porter is a solid defender who was crafty at getting steals 2 per game. Although English was known for his offense, he always worked hard defensively and gave it his all on that end averaging more than one steal and block per game in his season chosen. McCray was a great defender who will provide solid minutes to back him up who is a great 6th man.
Overall, I think I did a pretty good job with the 18th pick in the draft which we never had in this big of a pool of players as well as the draft pool being pretty thin at the end. I deserve a spot in the top four since I believe my team has it all from stars to role players, is balanced offensively and defensively, and has a decent enough bench that have their roles which will play to their strengths which my team needed. Most importantly, ALL my starters are in their peak season arguably so they will be at their best. Vote for ChicagoSportsFan21!
