Re: 17-18 Season And One Draft - SF2: ardee vs Tony Snell
LeBron James: 19.3 FGA
2000 Shaquille O'Neal: 21.1 FGA
Jaylen Brown: 11.5 FGA
Trevor Ariza: 9.7 FGA
Patty Mills: 8.3 FGA
Aaron Baynes: 5.5 FGA
Cedi Osman: 3.0 FGA
T.J. McConnell: 5.5 FGA
Total: 83.9/85 FGA
Mills (38)/McConnell (10)
Brown (40)/McConnell (8)
Ariza (38)/Osman (10)
LeBron (40)/Osman (8)
Shaq (40)/Baynes (8)
Offense: Fairly simple. We'll use LeBron as the primary creator on the perimeter, with 3 shooters, and Shaq doing Shaq things in the middle. Essentially it's a super version of the 2001 Lakers. We can post-up Shaq or do a LeBron/Shaq PnR: can you imagine how things would go if Snell had to switch, which ended with Durant on Shaq and Drummond on LeBron? Mismatch city!
I really don't know what more to say, LeBron and Shaq don't exactly need an introduction. Mills, Brown, Ariza, McConnell and Osman are all capable 3 point shooters so they'll have plenty of space to work with. Snell doesn't have the personnel to stop my guys at all. No one to guard LeBron, and Shaq will get Drummond into foul trouble comically fast. 2000 Shaq is a HUGE advantage in a pool like this because you either need an all-time GOAT defender like Hakeem or 4-5 giant bodies on your roster to have a prayer of stopping him. Here, it's very likely he could foul out both Drummond and Ed Davis in a half.
Defense: We'll put Jaylen on Erving. He's 6'7 and very athletic, I think he can contain Erving given that ABA Erving really didn't have a jumper, and driving to the hoop isn't going to be easy with peak Shaq there: this was the year he was 2nd in DPoY voting, and was second in the league in blocks. Ariza is helpful here and will get the Durant assignment, and LeBron gets Porter, though we can easily switch if Durant gets the ball in a clutch situation. Mills on Lowry. With LeBron being on a lesser offensive threat he can easily help more on Snell's stars.
Overall, I have great defenders for his two best offensive players, plus a 7'1, 350 lb deterrent in the paint. Two best players in the series rather easily too.

Congratulations on advancing ardee and good luck!
I will concede that the Shaq/LeBron pairing is awesome, but it left ardee's team barren everywhere else. Drummond led the league in DBPM and DWS this year. He is as good of a current year option as I could ask for to cover Shaq. Porter and Durant will see time on LBJ with the primary assignment falling on Porter. My advantage on the perimeter is massive. Lowry, Erving, and Porter should be able to fully exploit his weakness on the outside. I also have a major bench advantage. My offense will mainly flow through Durant and Erving. Overall, we think that to much will be asked of Shaq/LBJ here. Our big pairing of Erving/Durant is not all that far behind them, and our supplementary cast is far superior in this one and that will lead us to victory here.

I think I made my thoughts clear on this in the discussion thread. Snell has an insanely deeper team.

You know, I'm going to flip here. I had ardee ranked but not Tony, but Tony has decent defensive answers to LeBron and Shaq and his depth is much greater. There's a gap between Bron/Shaq and KD/Doc, but not quite enough.

While I don't believe Lebron at this stage is much higher impact than Erving or Durant, I think Shaq punks Drummond and the supporting cast beside those guys doesn't need to do much more than play defense and shoot 3s anyways - Mills, Brown and Ariza are quality players.

Re: 17-18 Season And One Draft - SF2: ardee vs Tony Snell
I’m voting for Ardee.
Prime Shaq would own Drummond.
KD / Lebron is a wash. Ariza can defend Dr. J.
I do like Tony’s squad a lot though!

Drummond is a big enough body to make Shaq work in the post. The fact he can't defend away from the basket isn't a huge concern here. It's hard to bet against Shaq/LeBron but Snell has enough weapons on the perimeter to overwhelm ardee's relative lack of depth.

People keep saying this, but how? My guys outside LeBron/Shaq do exactly what they need to. I wouldn't benefit from having another ball dominant scorer.

Functionally your team works well but from a talent standpoint Mills/JB/Ariza are worse than anyone in Snell's SL. Yes you have the 2 best players, but you're asking Mills who plays 25 min off the bench to play 38 min against elevated competition. That's a tough sell in conjunction with 2 other so-so starters. JB is unpolished and Ariza's best days are behind him. IMO you would have benefitted from a stronger 3rd option in the Beal/McCollum/Kemba ball park to add another layer to your offense.

I’m going to go with Snell. Just feel like the depth is too much here.
