Defense is the name of the game here. It all starts in the middle with JO, who combines elite post defense and rim protection with the mobility to hold his own out on the perimeter. He's joined by another outstanding interior defender in Grant who also has the lateral quickness to guard on the outside. Kawhi is in the conversation for GOAT wing defender, and the same can possibly be said of Blaylock at PG; with Wade's solid man defense and fantastic help instincts, opposing ballhandlers will be absolutely smothered. This defensive quintet is the best in the tournament, and it doesn't get much easier when we sub in the versatile Mbah a Moute along with another quality paint defender in Asik.

At the other end, we've got the best wing combination in the game with Wade and Kawhi. JO will be properly utilised as a #2/3 option rather than force-fed in the post as he often was with Indiana, and he should be far more efficient in this role. Blaylock provides high-level playmaking and helps space the floor with his 3-point shooting. Grant will fill in the blanks with midrange jumpers and garbage buckets around the rim. Kerr gives us lethal long-range sniping off the bench.

PF: Karl Malone (1997: 19.2 FGA) MVP, 1st team All-NBA, All-star, 1st team All-Defense, .268 WS/48, 8.5 BPM, 27.4 pts, 9.9 reb, 4.5 ast, 1.4 stl, 0.6 blk, .600 TS%
C: Roy Hibbert (2012: 10.3 FGA) All-star, .154 WS/48, 3.0 BPM, 12.8 pts, 8.8 reb, 1.7 ast, 2.0 blk, 0.5 stl (15.5 pts, 10.6 reb, 2.0 stl, 2.4 blk, 0.6 stl per 36), .539 TS%

PG/SG: Charlie Ward (1998: 6.3 FGA) .148 WS/48, 3.3 BPM, 7.8 pts, 5.7 ast, 3.3 reb, 1.8 stl, .567 TS%, 37.7% 3pt

85 / 85

PG: Kyle Lowry (38) / Charlie Ward (10)
SG: Kobe Bryant (28) / Charlie Ward (20)
SF: Danny Green (32) / Kobe Bryant (10) / Kyle Anderson (6)
PF: Karl Malone (32) / Kyle Anderson (16)
C: Roy Hibbert (30) / Marcin Gortat (14) / Karl Malone (4)

We have one of the best defensive teams. Kobe and Karl both made 1st team All-D, Green and All-star Hibbert are the actual best defenders on the team, and when asked to not carry the load Lowry can commit to that end like in his younger days. We also have a great defensive backup guard in Ward, the versatile Anderson and Gortat is solid. We can defend any star perimeter players, switch and have terrific post defense in the frontcourt. Because Ward is such a quality 6th man, against smaller lineups like Jory's Lebron PF matchup problem, we are comfortable starting Malone at the C with Lowry, Ward, Kobe and Green.

Offensively we are lucky in this pool to have two MVPs and big time scorers in Kobe and Karl. They're a fantastic fit together - Kobe thrived with Pau, MVP Karl can be a better version of him with his passing, shooting and finishing ability. Lowry is an all-star, 22/7 form and will have pressure taken off him, and he (41.2% 3P), Green (41.5% 3P) and Ward (37.7% 3P) are a great combination of shooters and 3/D play around the stars. This was Hibbert's best offensive season as well and he had a few moves.

We have one of the most talented teams with two MVP seasons in Kobe and Malone, two other all-stars in Lowry and Hibbert and a solid group of role players including excellent 3 and D guys in Green and Ward. What separates us though from some other contenders is this is also a good fit with a balance of stardom on the perimeter and interior, and good shooters and defenders who can make an impact without the ball around them.

The Non-Lottery Players And One Draft - Roster Pages

Tim Hardaway (1998 - 16.0 FGA)
Patrick Beverley (2017 - 8.1 FGA)
Wes Matthews (2015 - 12.5 FGA)
Jimmy Butler (2015 - 14.0 FGA)
Scottie Pippen (1996 - 15.8 FGA)
P.J. Tucker (2018 - 5.4 FGA)
Dennis Rodman (1994 - 3.7 FGA)
Arvydas Sabonis (1997 - 9.5 FGA)

Total: 85/85 FGA

Rotations:

Hardaway (38) / Beverley (10)
Butler (28) / Matthews (15) / Beverley (5)
Pippen (38) / Butler (10)
Rodman (28) / Tucker (20)
Sabonis (30) / Rodman (10) / Tucker (8)

Writeup:

Depth. Zero scrubs on this team. Offense from Hardaway, Butler, Matthews, Pippen, and Sabonis, with additional three point shooting from Beverley and Tucker. Defense from Beverley, Butler, Pippen, Rodman, Tucker, and Sabonis.

We don’t have one HUGE star, but we do have a great big three with Hardaway, Butler, and Pippen, and some great role players to surround them. Lots of shooting from the complementary pieces as well. Defense is elite with many of the players.

Team Euroballers

Chris Paul (38) / Eric Bledsoe (10)
Reggie Miller (34) / Doug Christie (14)
Toni Kukoc (30) / Doug Christie (18)
Detlef Schrempf (34) / Vlade Divac (14)
Marc Gasol (36) / Vlade Divac (12)

Chris Paul 09 - All-NBA 1st, All-Def 1st, 30 PER, 18.3 WS, 11.2 BPM, 124 ORTG, 103 DRTG
Reggie Miller 95 - All-NBA 3rd, 20.4 PER, 11.4 WS, 4.3 BPM, 123 ORTG, 108 DRTG
Doug Christie 03 - All-Def 1st, 15 PER, 8.9 WS, 4.2 BPM, 113 ORTG, 98 DRTG
Detlef Schrempf 95 - All-NBA 3rd, 20.3 PER, 12.9 WS, 4.5 BPM, 127 ORTG, 108 DRTG
Marc Gasol 13 - DPOTY, All-NBA 2nd, 19.5 PER, 11.5 WS, 6.1 BPM, 115 ORTG, 98 DRTG

Eric Bledsoe 13 - 17.5 PER, 3.7 WS, 2.7 BPM, 102 ORTG, 101 DRTG
Toni Kukoc 96 - 6MOTY, 20.4 PER, 10.1 WS, 4.5 BPM, 125 ORTG, 104 DRTG
Vlade Divac 91 - 17.7 PER, 8.3 WS, 3.7 BPM, 114 ORTG, 99 DRTG

FGA - 84.6/85
Spoiler:
Reggie 13.2
Christie 7
Schrempf 12.2
Gasol 10.9
Kukoc 9.7
Divac 91- 7.8
Chris Paul - 16.1
Bledsoe 7.7

Write-Up:
Offense: If the opponent doesn't have a star wing, Kukoc will start, creating a Euro dream team. Elite ball movement will bewilder many of the best man-defenders and Gasol will bring opposing Centers to the perimeter - to wreak further havoc. Off the bench, Divac and Kukoc can play an off the bench role like Manu/Z-Bo while Bledsoe bullies.

Defense: If the opponent has a star wing, Christie will start over Kukoc. We have great rim-protection and defensive-stars on the perimeter. CP3, Doug Christie, Divac, and Gasol will be put on any threats. I built this team with enough defense to handle 1-2 superstars - this team is good for a less stacked draft.

Teamwork is the key to winning.

America Runs On Diesel

PG Terry Porter (36) / Nate McMillan (12)
SG Khris Middleton (30) / Nate McMillan (18)
SF Joe Ingles (20) / OG Anunoby (20) / Khris Middleton (8)
PF Paul Millsap (36) / PJ Brown (12)
C Shaquille O’Neal (40) / PJ Brown (8)

FGA
1999-00 Shaquille O’Neal: 21.1
1990-91 Terry Porter: 11.7
2014-15 Paul Millsap: 12.7
2017-18 Khris Middleton: 15.5
1993-94 Nate McMillan: 5.4
2016-17 Joe Ingles: 5.5
2017-18 OG Anunoby: 4.7
2002-03 PJ Brown: 7.7

I’m not sure I could have had better shooting + defense around Shaq. This team is very deep. The fit is very simple and effective.
