Post#1 » by Fadeaway_J » Sat Feb 16, 2019 6:10 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours*, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on roster page).

**First to 4 votes advances.**

* For this round the 24-hour window starts from 10 PM EDT today.

Mike Conley (38) / Nate McMillan (10)
Victor Oladipo (28) / Nate McMillan (20)
Shawn Marion (38) / Victor Oladipo (10)
Draymond Green (36) / Jonas Jerebko (12)
Hakeem Olajuwon (40) / Omer Asik (8)

(2) Hakeem Olajuwon 94 (21.2) - MVP, FMVP, DPOY
(1) Draymond Green 16 (10.1) - MVP(7), DPOY(2), 39% 3FG
(1) Mike Conley 13 (11.8) - All-Def 2nd, 36% 3FG, 2.2 spg
(1) Nate McMillan 94 (5.4) - All-Def 2nd, 39% 3FG, 3 spg
(3) Victor Oladipo 18(17.9)-All-NBA 3rd,All-Def 1st,23.1 PER
(5) Shawn Marion 07 (13.4) - All-Star, 20.8 PER, 12 WS
(3) Jonas Jerebko 14 (3.3) - 42% 3FG, 58% TS, 13.8 PER
(4) Omer Asik 11 (1.7) - 3 DBPM, 55% FG, 11.8 PER

84.8/85, 20 teams

Match-Up:
Offense: Hakeem vs David Robinson - Hakeem dominated during this period against DRob.

Marion/Conley/Oladipo will feast on Brandon Roy/Reggie Miller - Whoever Kidd is on, we'll run him around offball. Marion/Draymond/Oladipo in transition will be a nightmare for Brandon Roy/McHale/Reggie Miller.

Defense: My team really has no weaknesses here. 4 all-defense(and a 5th off the bench) and shawn marion should do ok. I'll put McMillan on Kidd when McMillan's on the court.

Hakeem on Robinson
Draymond on McHale - McHale is an elite post scorer, but Hakeem is there to help and McHale isn't exactly an elite/willing passer.
Marion on Roy - Big size/athleticism advantage
Conley on Miller - Reggie can’t post up
Oladipo/McMillan on Kidd - This combo of defenders would be painful for MJ, and Kidd will feel the grind

Tony Snell has the more talented team, but he can't hide defensively against my Grindhouse build, and Hakeem owns DRob head-to-head.

PG: 98/99 Jason Kidd 14.0 (4)
SG: 97/98 Reggie Miller 13.3 (1)
SF: 08/09 Brandon Roy 16.9 (2)
PF: 89/90 Kevin McHale 14.4 (1)
C: 95/96 David Robinson 16.8 (1)

BE: 99/00 Bo Outlaw 4.1 (4)
BE: 13/14 Steven Adams 2.3 (1)
BE: 12/13 Pablo Prigioni 2.8 (3)

Total: 84.6 / 85.0
Franchises 17 / 20

Rotation:

PG: Kidd (38) Prigioni (10)
SG: Miller (38) Roy (10)
SF: Roy (30) Outlaw (18)
PF: McHale (36) Outlaw (12)
C: Robinson (40) Adams (8)

Write up:

Defensively, I have an all time defender in DRob to throw at his biggest scoring threat in Hakeem. Kidd will take his #2 option in Oladipo so Reggie will cover Conley who is a lesser offensive threat. Offensively, I think we have more fire power. With Kidd at the helm, and four very capable scorers, I think this offense will be difficult to stop.

Euro may well have the best defensive team in this tournament. Snell's offense is potent and well balanced, but he's facing stern resistance at every position (although I'm puzzled by the Conley-Reggie assignment from euro).

Conley might not be at his peak as a scorer, but he's still a lightning-quick penetrator who I don't see Reggie being able to stay in front of. That's the biggest vulnerability on either team because of the implications for Snell's overall defense, and I expect it to be a problem all series. Combine that with Hakeem's extra playoff gear and I have to side with euro here - barely.

Vote:
Spoiler:
euroleague

Reasoning: I'm going to go with the better defensive team here and that is euro who has elite defenders from top to bottom. His team should score just enough with favorable match-ups for Conley/Marion. Also, I like his bench a little more with McMillian leading the way.

I see euro's team struggling to score. Tony's fit isn't perfect but with the frontcourt stars he has enough talent

Snell has a serious offensive advantage. Oladipo and Olajuwon can't score 100 points every night.

I really like euro's D, balance, and build around Dream - who I trust a bit more than DRob in a big game.

Kind of difficult to vote in this matchup to be honest

Tony has the better offensive players overall but think euro will take this. Euro has such a great defense and some serious size advantage at SF

Marion is a pretty solid scorer, and should do well guarded by a 6’4 sieve like BRoy. Conley defended by Miller should be great as well.

These 2 were both all-star level, WCF team scoring leaders (or near it, Marion was in 06 but Amar’e got more shots in 07), normally defended by the best perimeter defenders. Marion guarded by Bowen, Conley by CP3/Sefalosha/etc. They aren’t that bad offensively that they won’t score 25+ against Brandon Roy and Reggie Miller defending outside their position
