The Sunrise-Sunset Draft SF2 - DerrickNoah* vs. euroleague

Post#1 » by Fadeaway_J » Tue Oct 8, 2019 1:45 am

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

**First to 4 votes advances. If neither team has 4 votes within 24 hours of the matchup starting, the first team to 3 will advance instead**

Starters:
PG: Ben Simmons 12.2 (2019) All-Star; 7.7apg(6th); 8.8rpg(19th)
SG: Ray Allen 12.2 (2011) All-Star; VORP(11th); TS%(7th); 3pt%.444
SF: Kawhi Leonard 12.8 (2015) DPOY; All-D(1); 2.3spg(1st); DR(1st)
PF: Dirk Nowitzki 16.6 (2002) All-NBA(2); 24.1 PER(5th); 3pt%.397
C: Joel Embiid 16.8 (2018) All-NBA(2); All-D(2); 1.8bpg(4th); DR(3rd)
Bench Mob:
G: Nate McMillan 5.0 (1995) All-D(2); 2.1spg(5th); DR(14th)
F: Richard Jefferson 4.2 (2016) NBA Champion; 3pt%.382
F: Dennis Rodman 5.2 (1997) NBA Champion; 16.1rpg(1st); DR(6th)
*DR = Defensive Rating(ranking)
FGA’s = 85.8 / 85.0

Rotation (minutes):
PG: Ben Simmons (36) / Nate McMillan (12)
SG: Ray Allen (36) / Nate McMillan (12)
SF: Kawhi Leonard (36) / Richard Jefferson (12)
PF: Dirk Nowitzki (36) / Dennis Rodman (12)
C: Joel Embiid (36) / Dennis Rodman (12)

Quick Write-up:
Very balanced 2-way team that plays on both ends of the court. Everyone is taller than 6’5(McMillan) & (minus dirk) has above average defense. Shooting & Rebounding are this teams true strengths but this team will be very difficult to score on.

Team Euro Match-up:
Nice team with some of big names but not sure I love the fit around MJ. Kidd, Giannis, Jokic are all better with the ball. Bench help & floor spacing appear to be glaring weaknesses. Should be interesting, either way. GL Euro!
BAF: Phoenix Suns
PG: Ayo Donaumu
SG: Franz Wagner / Ochai Agbaji

Jason Kidd (36) / Tyus Jones (12)
Michael Jordan (40) / Tyus Jones (8)
Giannis Antetokounmpo (28) / Kyle Anderson (20)
Larry Nance (38) / Giannis Antetokounmpo (10)
Nikola Jokic (38) / Omer Asik (10)

Jason Kidd 10 (8.4) - All-Star, 43% 3FG, 8.9 WS
Michael Jordan 97 (23.1) - MVP(2), FMVP, 18.3 WS, 27.8 PER
Giannis Antetokounmpo 17 (15.7)-MVP(7),12.4WS,26.1PER
Larry Nance 92 (12.7) - All-Def 2nd, 12.2 WS
Nikola Jokic 19 (15.1) - MVP(4), 11.8 WS, 26.3 PER

Tyus Jones 18 (4) - 35% 3FG, 57% TS
Kyle Anderson 17 (2.9) - 37% 3FG
Omer Asik 11 (1.7)

83.9/85

Advantages:
1. Talent:
- I have the GOAT
- My (2 All-NBA 1st + all-NBA 2nd) vs His (2 All-NBA 2nd)
- My 3rd best player is arguably better than his best (Giannis was higher in MVP voting than 02 Dirk)
- Kawhi wasn’t an all-star, and I think he’s being overrated offensively in this matchup as a shooter

17 Giannis/10 Kidd/19 Jokic/92 Nance
beat
15 Kawhi/11 Allen/18 Embiid/19 Simmons

2. Offense: He has no rim protection except Embiid. We will attack young Dirk+old Ray Allen off the pick and roll through Jokic.

He has a great bench and good defense, but I think his offense struggles to score and his bench won’t help there.

Nice team DN

I prefer euro's starting lineup since he has MJ and a lot of players close to their prime (Jordan-Giannis-Nance-Jokic), but the depth is a massive difference. DN has a solid team with a much better version of the Sixers so I'll go with him. Vote DerrickNoah

DN - Spacing reasons, I just feel even though Euros is more tallented they would get in each others way a little.
After your first, you change, you mature, you dont just jump into things.

After getting dunked on for the first time, life becomes complex.

Euro -

Pretty easily the best player in the series with MJ, and Giannis/Jokic have an argument as the 2nd/3rd best. I normally dont like Kidd with Jordan but i think this particular year is easily the best version to fit beside him.

DN has a far better bench to close the gap, but i think even if Euros fit isnt amazing, talent is gonna win out here. Jokic is a great C to go with MJ/Giannis too imo and helps take Embiid away from the rim.

Vote: DerrickNoah

Euro is more talented but DN's fit is sublime. Matches up well, Kawhi on MJ, Ben on Giannis, Embiid on Jokic. I think DN's offense will be just a bit smoother with a proven PG-C duo surrounded by shooting, vs euro where I think Giannis will get a bit sidelined.
