Yeah I am wondering how that will work. You do raise a good point about the expensiveness--at 18.8 FGA, J.R. Smith could still draft a "GOAT" and another high-level all-nba talent. Was he given a 23-27 FGA player, perhaps he couldn't afford 2 all-timers.
That's funny, after thinking about it, I think I'm starting to come around.
18.8 FGA at center is a lot more harmful than 18.8 FGA at a perimeter position given that a higher number of cheap, high impact players are available at the center spot. I didn't think that difference bridged the gap in cost for some of the more costly players that will be picked in round 1, but maybe it actually does given Al Jefferson made the All-NBA team about 2-3 years before players like him faded into total irrelevance.
I dunno, its hard to say.
Unfortunately I think what we're probably going to see in this game is teams building some REALLY bad benches to make ends meet after the collective FGA hit we're all taking.
Another thing to think about is Al Jefferson HAS to play Center. Bernard King could play the 2 or 3 technically.
Al Jefferson gives no flexibility.
He's also deceptively inefficient offensively despite better than 50% FG, with zero range, and a lack of ability to get to the line with poor shooting when he got there. 53% TS is really bad for a guy who only gives you offense and doesn't pass much.
