Might be a different pool

Funny that LeBron is also included there. And he'll also be included in a "old franchises draft".

It really is hard to find a viable twist that doesn't include him

It actually disqualifies lots of the top All Time Greats, like Michael, LeBron, Larry, Abdul-Jabbar, Malone, Miller, Leonard, Russell, Shaquille, Olajuwon, Clyde, (Nikola) Jokic, Luka, Paul, Gasol and others.

A draft where you can only select players in their rookie season could be a fun twist.

I still like my idea of the "Never played on an allstar team together" idea.

I like the position per round draft idea (with a resetting draft position each round

I like the middle child franchise draft

And I assume, the old time franchises draft.

I like the Middle Child Franchise Draft the most as it helps mix-up the pool.

I also like, since we have some newer people, a pure no-restrictions draft [16-20 people].

That was rough. Great game though.

Giannis is like how LeBron was in his prime where you need to play perfectly for 48 minutes to beat him.

So many dumb mistakes by the team as a whole last night.

Brown poked the ball out of Smarts hands on the rebound where portis scored the go ahead
Poor play execution down the stretch
Tatum settling for fadeaway midrange shots
Ime didnt do a great job in the 4th..

Bunch of little **** things.

Still hoping we end up with Beal in the offseason

Smart/Pritchard
Beal/
Brown/
Tatum/Grant Williams
Rob Williams/Al Horford

Just not enough reliable offense on the team right now. Need someone who can come in a score when needed, I think Beal is the PERFECT guy to push team to a championship push for a few years.

Here's a draft idea. In the first round, it's an open draft where you can pick anyone. For every subsequent round, however, you have to select players from the same division as your first-round pick.

I like this, gets a little problematic with teams that have moved and ABA teams. so need to be tweaked a bit. But I like it.

Yup, we have done conference ones and a road trip draft [Very similar to divisions].

We would need to define the divisions before hand.

Should be easy enough. I would assume we could come to a consensus on the aba teams then could use final stops as divisions for teams that moved?

Problem is charlotte/okc/new orleans

Rebounders draft. Only players that had a season of at least 6 rpg per 36 minutes can be selected (with at least 50% of the season played). The selected season doesn't have to be a 6 rpg per 36 min season.

I probably wouldn't have time to run them now, but I do have a few ideas:

1) Every inch counts
You have a limit of like 600 inches of height total for the whole roster, BRef height counts

2) Oldies but goldies
Only players 33yo or older, BRef age counts. At least 590 years total roster

3) Going out with a bang
Only retired players, only their last season counts[/b]

Hmm might be somewhat lesser in talent but definitely a refreshing pool. Don't remember if I suggested this before, but I'll suggest anyway.

Sixth men draft. Only players with at least 50% of their games in the given season coming off the bench are eligible (only seasons where we have such data in basketball-reference.com).

Some the current draft is no mvp Cs and PFs, maybe a no mvp PGs, SGs and SFs draft.

Wanted to run Rebounders Draft, but I'm getting married in the next few days, so I plan to participate in the next draft but not organize.

Another interesting, somewhat random, idea I had is a draft where only players with a double letter one-after-the-other in their names are eligible. Like Kidd, Kerr, Reed, Wall. Random but interesting pool and seems deep enough.

Is there any interest in a speed draft? Picks limited to one minute and are put directly onto the spreadsheet. At the conclusion, you have one hour to post your roster page, then one hour to submit rankings. Whole thing is done in one evening.
