Pacific Division Draft v2 SF1 - Snakebites vs. wackbone*

Post#1 » by Fadeaway_J » Mon May 29, 2023 11:42 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Please ensure you give a rationale for your vote; votes with no explanation will not be counted.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

**First to 3 votes advances.**

DeAndre Jordan (38) / Festus Ezeli (10)

Writeup:

Helluva squad as always Snake, best of luck.

Snake has rolled out a couple different lineups, so I'll talk about matchups as best as I can.

Defensively we will start with Nash on Iggy, Klay on Timmy, Wiggins on KD, Blake on EJ, and DAJ on Divac/Bogut. If McDyess is starting over Iggy then it's Nash on Timmy, Klay on EJ, Wiggins on KD, Blake on Dice, and DAJ on Divac/Bogut. Caruso will also see time on either Timmy or EJ off of the bench.

Neither team is truly elite defensively imo. I think both teams are going to have a really hard time getting stops. Snake's team is super talented and works well enough together, but I think my team has a more cohesive offensive fit. Nash is the primary ball handler, Klay and Wiggins are souped up 3 point shooters and scorers, 3rd in MVP voting Blake is our main scorer, and All-NBA 1st DAJ is our lob threat. Danilo offers more firepower off of the bench, and Caruso is solid. I can just picture this team as the SSOL Suns of the 2000s, with Nash leading the break, feeding Blake (ala Amare), with snipers/secondary scorers on the wing in Klay/Wiggins/Danilo (ala Raja, Joe, and Marion). I think a slow footed center like Divac will get run off the court, and Bogut isn't much better in that regard. Assuming EJ on Nash that leaves Timmy to guard Klay which I don't think he'll offer much resistance.

I think this could go either way, but I think my offense is a bit more cohesive which makes the difference.

Kevin Durant 2016-17 16.5 FGA-Warriors
Eddie Jones 1997-98 12.6 FGA- Lakers
Vlade Divac 1994-95- 12.0 FGA- Lakers
Andre Iguodala 2016-17 5.5 FGA- Warriors
Andrew Bogut 2015-16 4.0 FGA- Warriors
Tim Hardaway 90-91 18.7 FGA- Warriors
Antonio McDyess 97-98 11.4 FGA- Suns
Cameron Payne 20-21 6.6 FGA- Suns

Total: 87.3/88

Timmy (38)/Payne (10)
Jones (36)/Iggy (8)/Payne (4)
Durant (26)/Iggy (22)
Dice (36)/Durant (12)
Divac (30)/Bogut (18)

Alrighty, let’s do this. Great team by Wack, we’ll see how this goes.

I think there’s some similarities in the builds of these teams- great playmaking point guard with 2 defensive shooting wings, and a roll man at the 4.

While I’ll acknowledge that Timmy will likely be outplayed by Nash, I think at the end of the day the gap between KD as a go-to scorer and anything wack has in that department is large enough to more than negate that. I also think I’ve got an advantage at the 5- as Vlade is a more effective and better all round player than DAJ.

Hard to really poke holes here- wack has built one of the best teams in this- I just think my team packs a bit more punch.

I agree that KD is the best iso-scorer here but Nash is the best offensive player here.

I like Wiggins/Klay to put on KD but Hardaway will get what he wants as well.

Overall I like Klay/Wiggins/Griffin/DAJ more-so than Hardaway/Jones/McDyess/Divac while there is a lot more pop off the bench in Gallinari compared to the defensive stalwarts in Iggy/Bogut.

Really like wack's build which is basically a rich man's version of the Lob City Clippers with massive upgrades at the wing spots. KD is obviously the best individual scorer in the series, but as Colbinii says Nash is a reliable driver of team-wide offensive success. Snake has the better defensive team although I wouldn't call it a huge edge. Once again, I much prefer Gallo in this sixth man role where he isn't being relied upon as much as he often was in real life.

I was pretty split on this. I guess I'll go with the matchups where it seems like Nash is going to cook against Hardaway, and I don't know much about Phx McDyess defense but I think he's probably not the best to play peak Blake. Combined their pick and roll should be strong. Vote wackbone.
