Derrick Rose Draft Playin - Larry Russell vs MadNess*

Post#1 » by durantbird » Sat Oct 5, 2024 4:13 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Please ensure you give a rationale for your vote; votes with no explanation will not be counted.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

**First to 3 votes advances.**

C: Gasol (38) / Bjelica (10)

87.8/88

Dumars versus billups
Cooper vs harden
Rose versus battier
Mcadoo versus nance
Gasol versus hakeem

Defensively I matchup very well here. Dumars is an elite point of attack guard and copper is a dpoy wing who can put clamps on someone like harden

Rose is going to be able to use his speed to play passing lanes and double down as needed.

Mcadoo is athletic ebough to play with nance

And gasol is a dpoy player who has the size and smarts to cover hakeem.

Offensively I have great spacing around the dynamic Rose.

The duo of rose and mcadoo is pretty lethal and with the spacing of cooper, gadol, ehlo, prigioni, bjelica and the often grossly underrated dumars makes a great flowing team centric offense.

Write Up:

GL LR!

Defense:
Straight up. Billups on Rose. Harden on Dumars. Battier on Cooper. Nance on McAdoo. Hakeem on Marc. We plan to play good man to man defense and pack the paint. No penetration allowed. This team lacks spacing and we plan to utilize that against them. Billups is an excellent cover for Rose. Hakeem keeps the slashers honest.

Offense:
Inside out. Hakeem touches the rock on every possession, with shooters everywhere. Harden can play off Hakeem. Billups has one of the smartest BBIQ’s of all time. He would work well with Harden on and off the ball. Nance is an uber athlete who can score almost any way. No holes on offense.

I have a great bench with Kirk, McDaniels and Mason. All good players, all good roles, all in their peaks.

This might be the worst bench I’ve ever seen in one of the drafting games from LR. I mean honestly. Sorry bro.

Good defense, balanced offense, star power, elite role players, and depth help us move on here.

Vote NESS.

I like the fit of Ness's team better. I think Hakeem/Harden/Billups is a great core of three and he's also got a fundamentally sound supporting group.

I like LR's starting group but I don't remember Dumars' defense in 1997 being anything all that great and the bench really does drag him down here. I'd have rather seen him take a cheaper MVP/All NBA First player and use those extra FGA to go 8 deep.

I know you meant Hakeem and not Shaq, but it still fits

More or less agree with Snake. Larry's starting group is pretty potent - D-Rose and McAdoo could do some real damage on the break - but it's let down by guys like Bjelica and Prigioni. Ness has a rock solid eight-man rotation, and his defensive frontcourt is just eyewatering.

Olajuwon puts it well over the top for me. I would like to say I like the wing defense that Larry put together. But not quite enough. Vote Ness
