Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Please ensure you give a rationale for your vote; votes with no explanation will not be counted.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

PG: Penny Hardaway (1996: 14.8 FGA)
SG: Mitch Richmond (1996: 16.9 FGA)
SF: Bruce Bowen (2003: 5.8 FGA)
PF: Dirk Nowitzki (2011: 16.2 FGA)
C: Patrick Ewing (1989: 16.0 FGA)

PG/SG: Charlie Ward (2001: 6.1 FGA)
SG: Jon Barry (1996: 2.7 FGA = 3.0)
PF/C: Lamar Odom (2009: 9.0 FGA)

87.8 / 88

PG: Penny Hardaway (38) / Charlie Ward (10)
SG: Mitch Richmond (28) Charlie Ward (12) / Jon Barry (8)
SF: Bruce Bowen (36) / Mitch Richmond (10) / Lamar Odom (2)
PF: Dirk Nowitzki (28) / Lamar Odom (20)
C: Patrick Ewing (38) / Dirk Nowitzki (10)

Defensive matchups: Penny on Porter, Bowen on Kobe, Richmond on Elie, Dirk on Karl, Ewing on Moses

MadNESS has very talented team though I think we have some advantages.

We are in a little bit better defensive position, as I believe 79 Moses (on bottom 2 defensive team) isn't as good on that end as the championship version, while Ewing gives that anchor. On the whole I believe Dirk and the younger more athletic Ewing are a better fit together than the Malones. Dirk is the one big of the four who is at his apex. We have elite perimeter stopper in Bowen to put on Kobe while Penny would do well against Elie or tire out Kobe.

Odom is the biggest bench difference maker and his Mason minutes at SF will hurt his offense, lineups like Mason/Karl/Moses or Mason/Karl/Eaton make it easier to crowd the bigs, and McMillan is easier to leave open than Ward as well.

PG: Terry Porter (36) | Nate McMillan (12)
SG: Kobe Bryant (40) | Nate McMillan (8)
SF: Mario Elie (32) | Anthony Mason (16)
PF: Karl Malone (40) | Anthony Mason (8)
Cc: Moses Malone (40) | Mark Eaton (8)

07’-08’ Kobe Bryant - 20.6 FGA - MVP
98’-99’ Karl Malone - 16.3 FGA - MVP
78’-79’ Moses Malone - 16.2 FGA - MVP
90’-91’ Terry Porter - 11.7 FGA - All Star
93’-94’ Nate McMillan - 5.4 FGA - SPG Champ
94’-95’ Mario Elie - 6.0 FGA - Champion
94’-95’ Anthony Mason - 6.6 FGA - 6MOTY
88’-89’ Mark Eaton - 5.0 FGA - DPOY

Total: 87.8 | 88.0 FGA

Triangle offense. One Malone high, one Malone low. Inside out. Kobe plays great with bigs. Porter & Elie can hit open shots and are good 3 point shooters. Deep bench with elite role players. Elite defense all the way through. No bad defenders whatsoever. Elite man to man defense. Zero holes with this squad. No team has 3 legit MVP’s.

GL Dr. P

Our defense is elite all the way through.
We’re the only team who can successfully defend Dirk and Ewing.
We have 2 guys who can defend Dirk in Karl Malone and Mason
We have 4 guys who can defend Penny in Porter, McMillan, Kobe if needed and even Elie.
Mitch becomes a spot up shooter in this offense with Penny have the ball in his hands and pick and rolling with Dirk.

Offensively we plan to beat up Dirk with Karl Malone. We can get him into foul trouble.
Kobe and him can run the triangle on one side with Porter. Elie plays the opposite wing spotting up, and Moses plays the opposite post side.

Dirk nor Odom can handle Karl Malones physicality.

Bowen can not defend Kobe for 40 mins. He’s got no one else to throw at him.

Elie is guarding Mitch who becomes a spot up shooter on this team. Kobe stays fresh doubling off Bowen.

Jon Barry is a useless 8th man. My team is 8 deep.

I boast 3 true MVP’s to Dr. P’s 1.

Don’t get fooled about “spacing issues” with Mason.

Pay attention to Dirk trying to defend Karl Malone.

Vote Ness.

Personally, I have both Karl anbd Kobe as the best players in the series.

And even though, as DrP pointed out, that THis version of Moses wasnt a great defender, I still have the defensive edge going to Ness. Porter has the size to cover Penny, Kobe was a great defender, Elie is a great defender and Malone is an above average defender as well.

Agree with Larry that while Dr P has a better defensive anchor, Ness also needs it less given the rest of his roster. Offensively, Dr P has better spacing (this really stands out with the bench units where Dirk plays the 5), but Ness has a sizeable playmaking advantage. I think this devolves into a slugfest in which Kobe and the Malones ride their defense and individual shot creation to eke out a win.

Vote MadNess

The Ewing/Dirk combo is great (would have preferred 06 though)

It's close but I wouldn't put Dirk at C, and Porter + Kobe is a very strong tandem I think that puts it over the top and a stronger bench.

Good game Dr. P. If anyone was gonna beat me this draft, I thought it was you.
