Infrequent Finalist Franchises - R2 - Dr Positivity* vs Stan

Post#1 » by durantbird » Tue Feb 11, 2025 2:25 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

PG: Kyrie Irving (2024: 19.5 FGA)
SG: Sidney Moncrief (1982: 13.3 FGA)
SF: Reggie Miller (1994: 13.2 FGA)
PF: Kevin Durant (2023: 18.3 FGA)
C: Dikembe Mutombo (1995: 7.7 FGA)

SF: Keon Ellis (2024: 4.1 FGA)
PF: OG Anunoby (2020: 8.2 FGA)
C: Mark Eaton (1990: 3.7 FGA)

88 / 88

PG: Kyrie Irving (38) / Sidney Moncrief (10)
SG: Sidney Moncrief (28) / Reggie Miller (20)
SF: Reggie Miller (18) / Kevin Durant (20) / Keon Ellis (10)
PF: Kevin Durant (18) / OG Anunoby (30)
C: Dikembe Mutombo (38) / Mark Eaton (10)

Defensive matchups: Moncrief on Richmond, Irving on Billups, Miller on Iguodala, Durant on Bosh, Mutombo on Walton

We have a relatively difficult matchup to handle with four talented perimeter players. Playing double big with Bosh pre-defensive peak against Durant PF lineup could cause him issues and we have our best defender Mutombo at the right position. Our shooting is a bit better compared to Iggy-Bosh-Walton frontcourt and OG off the bench also gives us more 3s than Grant Hill. Moncrief will help out Irving's playmaking and we have multiple players who can hit shots at the end of the game.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

Roster
1977 Bill Walton: 14.3
2009 Chauncey Billups: 12.4
1996 Mitch Richmond: 16.9
2008 Chris Bosh: 15.3
2013 Andre Iguodala: 11

2010 Grant Hill: 8.7
2020 George Hill: 6.4
2024 Dwight Powell: 3

Rotation
Billups (38) Ge. Hill (10)
Richmond (38) Ge. Hill (10)
Iggy (38) Gr. Hill (10)
Bosh (38) Gr. Hill (10)
Walton (38) Powell (10)

The biggest criticism you can make about my team is that I don't quite have that "alpha" scorer, the guy who's going to average 30 over the course of a series. However, I don't believe my team needs one, as I have 4 HOF 20 ppg caliber scorers all in their prime to pick up the scoring load. My team meshes together almost seamlessly, there's shooting, playmaking & esp defense throughout the lineup, with a group of guys who play selflessly while playing pivotal roles on championship teams.

I have two major issues with Dr. P's team, he has absolutely no defense in his backcourt, and virtually no scoring in his frontcourt. Also, while this version of KD is still elite, this is no longer peak KD, this is mid 30's Durant who has shown he can be held to mortal performances, while Kyrie has frankly been an underperforming playoff performer since leaving Cleveland.

I can throw doubles of Iggy/Richmond/Billups to trap KD & Kyrie, with Bosh able to switch onto them at any time. Offensively, we can push the break effectively with our athleticism or pick you apart in the halfcourt with spacing & off ball movement, with Walton being able to draw Dikembe from the basket, opening up opportunities at the rim through his teams swiss cheese perimeter defense.

Tough one - I prefer Stan's team conceptually, but not sure how well he matches up with KD at the 4.
