Franchise Draft Lockdown SF1 - ReggiesKnicks* vs. MadNESS

Post#1 » by Fadeaway_J » Thu Feb 27, 2025 5:53 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

Rotation

Luka Doncic (40) / Pablo Prigioni (8)
Kawhi Leonard (40) / Bruce Bowen (8)
Bruce Bowen (26) / Robert Horry (22)
Anthony Davis (30) / Boris Diaw (18)
David Robinson (40) / Anthony Davis (8)

Roster
Kawhi Leonard (2016) 15.1
David Robinson (1996) 16.8
Anthony Davis (2020) 17.7
Bruce Bowen (2006) 6.5
Robert Horry (1999) 3.8
Luka Doncic (2021) 20.5
Boris Diaw (2013) 4.4
Pablo Prigioni (2013) 3

Total FGA 87.8/88.0

-We have a size advantage combined with a better on-ball creator in Luka compared to Kidd
-AD is an excellent Dirk cover meanwhile Dirk can't guard AD or Robinson
-Shaq and Dirk are both going to get cooked in the P&R while AD/Robinson can at least hold their own vs Dirk/Shaq
-Luka is going to relentlessly attack Dirk/Shaq while Kawhi can lock-down Manu
-Luka gets to hide on Batter and we go underneath the P&R since Kidd isn't a 3P threat

If it matters for defensive assignments
Kawhi + Bowen split time > Manu + Kidd
Luka > Battier
Bowen + Kawhi > Manu + Kidd
AD > Dirk
D Rob > Shaq

Write Up;

GL RK

- We feel we have the best fitting team in this draft.
- Shaq and Dirk are the best big man duo in this draft.
- Both Shaq and Dirk are in their MVP seasons.
- Manu fits with that duo so well.
- Kidd is one of the smartest players and one of the best point guards of all time. All NBA 1 and NBA D 1.
- Harden off the bench trumps all 3 of his bench players combined. Harden is the best 6th man in this draft.
- Battier is the best glue guy of all time.
- Reggie’s Bench is abysmal.
- Kidd will slow down Luka.
- Battier will defend Kawhi.
- At any point Luka had to defend Harden or Manu in the pick and roll or one on one, we attack him.
- We have elite defense everywhere other than Dirk.
- Manu can help double off defense anywhere, sagging off Bowen, who is just a corner shooter here.

FIT, talent, defense and depth help us move on.
Harden torches his bench. We slow Luka. AD/Robinson both need to be in the post. Combo is clunky. We’ve talked for years on this board how AD is a 5, even though he wants to be a 4.

FIT is too good here.

NESS continues. Vote NESS.

I really like both teams but I think the matchup very slightly favors RK. Ness's offensive focus is in his Shaq/Dirk front court, so having D Rob/AD as a counter is a key factor. Of course, Kidd/Battier are great defensive counters on the perimeter, but I think one of Kawhi or Luka should be able to take advantage of their size advantage.

Luka will surely be vulnerable defensively against so much talent, but the fact that he gets a low volume assignment like Battier mitigates that vulnerability.

I think it would be the thing of legends if you came in here, won your first tournament, and then went off into the sunset leaving us all wondering who you really were. But would prefer to see you stick around in spite of how epic that would be
