Common Theme Pairs Draft 2.0 - Discussion
Draft Rules:
Notice: we won't start the draft before "Not Loyal, No Journeyman" Draft completes
1. All NBA/ABA seasons from the draft's timeframe* are eligible, subject to the restrictions outlined below.
*The draft's timeframe will be determined according to the number of signups:
- With up to 10 signups - we'll use a 1989-90 to 2023-24 timeframe
- With 11-12 signups - we'll use a 1979-80 to 2023-24 timeframe
- With 13 signups or more - we'll use a 1959-60 to 2023-24 timeframe
2. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players in 4 rounds. Each of your players must play a minimum of 8 minutes in your rotations. Any player chosen in a season that is pre-merger will have a multiplier of 0.85 applied against their actual fga, rounded to closest 0.1.
3. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 88.0 FGA with a minimum of 3.0 FGA per player corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player. NOTE: You may pick a player whose actual FGA number was lower than 3.0, but you still be charged 3.0 for that player.
4. Each player you select must have played at least 50% of regular season games in the season selected. He needs to play at least 50% of his games for an eligible franchise.
5. In each round, you select two players, each must play 50% of his games in the season for a different side of the follow franchise pairs (put together by a common theme):
Cleveland Cavaliers & Sacramento Kings (middle ages)
LA Lakers & LA Clippers (water)
Chicago Bulls & Milwaukee Bucks (hoofed animals)
Utah Jazz & OKC Thunder (sounds)
NY Knicks & Boston Celtics (peoples)
Predecessor franchises are eligible as well for the pairs.
Notice each pair can have maximum one player who was selected multiple times to an All NBA First team.
6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBA.
7. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you still have not chosen a player by then, or if the player you have chosen is ineligible, you will be skipped. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection to another participant. NOTE: If you miss one pick and have failed to make it by the time your next pick comes around, you will be skipped.
8. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT.
9. Draft order will be completely randomized.
10. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock. You may not change your pick after it has been made, even if the next person in the order has not picked yet. Please note that the clock starts whenever the previous drafter has either made their pick or their two-hour window has expired, even if the next person is not quoted.
11. The winner of the draft will be determined by polls. AI will be used as a single vote when a matchup is tied and stuck.
Team Roster Page Rules:
You will be responsible for creating a roster page for your fantasy team. Here are the things that you will be required to include on your roster page:
. Players
. Rotations
. Draft selections
. The most important of all, you must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is under the required 88.0 FGA
-All of the above must be completed before playoffs/rankings

Re: Common Theme Pairs Draft 2.0 - Signups
I've enjoyed this pairs draft and would enjoy this one, but I just need to take a short break. Enjoy fellas!
Kids played football, drove cars, went to school, celebrated life; while soldiers, heroes, their brothers struggled to find their way home from war; and young boys watched and grew wiser in their dreams.

Re: Common Theme Pairs Draft 2.0 - Signups
ok
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I'll start the draft tomorrow. That's when Not Loyal No Journeyman ends, and I'm unavailable today anyhow - at a hotel

Re: Common Theme Pairs Draft 2.0 - Signups
It's an interesting pool because we've got some very deep franchises that are strattled with very unappealing pair franchises.
The Lakers are super deep in terms of MVP level talent but there are very few solid all stars to really pair them with. The role player pool is just okay, too. The Celtics are stuck with the Knicks, who are one of the more unappealing teams in this thing.
The Bulls and Bucks are decently deep but have a lot of pieces that fit oddly together.
