Not Loyal No Journeyman Draft - CHAMPIONSHIP - JimmyPlopper** vs Dr Positivity

Post#1 » by durantbird » Thu Mar 6, 2025 9:31 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

Draft
Round 1, Pick 10: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (2024) - 19.8 FGA/G
Round 2, Pick 13: Anthony Davis (2020) - 17.7 FGA/G
Round 3, Pick 24: Brook Lopez (2021) - 9.1 FGA/G
Round 4, Pick 43: Jeff Hornacek (1996) - 10.7 FGA/G
Round 5, Pick 46: Dan Majerle (1998) - 6.1 FGA/G
Round 6, Pick 65: Jarrett Allen (2020) - 6.6 FGA/G
Round 7, Pick 68: Michael Redd (2003) - 11.8 FGA/G
Round 8, Pick 87: Cedric Maxwell (1987) - 5.9 FGA/G

87.7/88

Rotation
PG: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (36) / Jeff Hornacek (12)
SG: Jeff Hornacek (24) / Michael Redd (24)
SF: Dan Majerle (36) / Michael Redd (12)
PF: Anthony Davis (36) / Cedric Maxwell (12)
C: Brook Lopez (32) / Jarrett Allen (16)

First of all, I think Dr. P has undersold his team so far, but has been justly recognized as being extremely competitive. My game plan is to disrupt Dr. P’s offensive flow by using smart defensive matchups and letting Anthony Davis roam as a help defender. I’ll have Shai Gilgeous-Alexander guard Michael Jordan, using his length to contest shots and make MJ work for every bucket. Jeff Hornacek will stick with Damian Lillard, using his mobility to fight through screens and limit Dame’s open looks. Dan Majerle will defend Dražen Petrović, applying physical defense to disrupt his shooting rhythm. Brook Lopez will handle Bill Laimbeer in the paint, while Davis will roam, helping out on drives and challenging shots at the rim. The key is to force inefficient possessions, control the boards, and rely on my bench depth to wear them down throughout the game.

Good luck Doctor

PG: Damian Lillard (2019: 19.2 FGA)
SG: Drazen Petrovic (1993: 16.2 FGA)
SF: Michael Jordan (1991: 22.4 FGA)
PF: Bobby Jones (1983: 6.2 FGA)
C: Bill Laimbeer (1990: 9.7 FGA)

PG: Pablo Prigioni (2014: 2.9 FGA = 3.0)
SF/PF: Grant Williams (2022: 5.6 FGA)
C: Ivica Zubac (2021: 5.5 FGA)

87.7 / 88

PG: Damian Lillard (34) / Pablo Prigioni (14)
SG: Drazen Petrovic (40) / Damian Lillard (6) / Michael Jordan (2)
SF: Michael Jordan (38) / Grant Williams (10)
PF: Bobby Jones (30) / Grant Williams (16) / Bill Laimbeer (2)
C: Bill Laimbeer (32) / Ivica Zubac (16)

GL Jimmy

Defensive matchups: Lillard on Majerle, Petrovic on Hornacek, MJ on SGA, Jones on Davis, Laimbeer on Lopez

- Note a key downgrade in that this is 1998 Majerle.

- Poor matchup for his perimeter D as he is using Hornacek on Lillard and MJ gets the better of him and SGA guarding each other. SGA has a lot of playmaking responsibility for also guarding MJ while Lillard helps him.

- Redd is a great 6th man but we will try to take advantage of him on D without a lot of place to hide on my perimeter. His 3 worst players are Majerle, Maxwell and Allen, that's better than Williams, Zubac and Prigs but the difference is mostly 87 Maxwell vs Prigs, there's value in having another shooter and true backup PG and neither play tons of minutes so it's manageable.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

Dr P DOMINATEs here, imo,

#1 There is NO ONE who comes close to defending MIke
#2 Marjerle is past prime and is being counted on for 36 minutes in a season where he only averaged 27 mins
#3 SGA will get exhausted trying to defend Mike and he is the engine for jimmy's team
#4 Jeff cannot guard Dame, I love Jeff but 32 year old Jeff cannot man Dames best offensive season.

Jordan going for 60 and Dame for 30.
