Redick Draft - Discussion

Post#1 » by durantbird » Fri Apr 4, 2025 5:28 pm

Draft Rules:

1. All NBA/ABA seasons from 1959-60 to 2023-24 are eligible, subject to the restrictions outlined below.

2. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players in 8 rounds. Each of your players must play a minimum of 8 minutes in your rotations. Any player chosen in a season that is pre-merger will have a multiplier of 0.85 applied against their actual fga, rounded to closest 0.1.

3. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 88.0 FGA with a minimum of 3.0 FGA per player corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player. NOTE: You may pick a player whose actual FGA number was lower than 3.0, but you still be charged 3.0 for that player.

4. Each player you select must have played at least 50% of regular season games in the season selected. He needs to play at least 50% of his games for an eligible franchise.

5. Your final team should have 8 players, each under a different category:

Category 1 - A player who coached at least one game in the NBA as a head coach (you may refer to https://www.basketball-reference.com/coaches/)

Category 2 - A player who finished top 5 in 3pt percentage in any season during his career.

Make sure he has enough 3pt shots to be eligible by checking he appears in the official league leaders list.

Refer to https://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/fg3_pct_top_10.html

Notice you may use any season for the player, e.g. Hornacek being top 5 in 1995-96 makes any season of Hornacek available for the category.

Category 3 - A player who played 50% of the games in his chosen season for Orlando Magic

Category 4 - A player who played 50% of the games in his chosen season for LA Clippers

Category 5 - A player who played 50% of the games in his chosen season for Philadelphia 76ers

Category 6 - A player who played 50% of the games in his chosen season for New Orleans Pelicans

Category 7 - A player who played 50% of the games in his chosen season for Milwaukee Bucks

Category 8 - A player who played 50% of the games in his chosen season for Dallas Mavericks

For categories 3-8, predecessor franchises are also fine.

6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBABABA.

7. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you still have not chosen a player by then, or if the player you have chosen is ineligible, you will be skipped. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection to another participant. NOTE: If you miss one pick and have failed to make it by the time your next pick comes around, you will be skipped.

8. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT.

9. Draft order will be completely randomized.

10. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock. You may not change your pick after it has been made, even if the next person in the order has not picked yet. Please note that the clock starts whenever the previous drafter has either made their pick or their two-hour window has expired, even if the next person is not quoted.

11. The winner of the draft will be determined by polls. AI will be used as a single vote when a matchup is tied and stuck.

Team Roster Page Rules:

You will be responsible for creating a roster page for your fantasy team. Here are the things that you will be required to include on your roster page:

. Players
. Rotations
. Draft selections
. The most important of all, you must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is under the required 88.0 FGA

-All of the above must be completed before playoffs/rankings

Funny to find Isiah Thomas at second spot in PCT in 83' with the extraordinary nearly 29% from deep!

ok
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I would do it but I don't like Redick as a person and so my OCD is too much to overcome. I would love to join honestly. I just can't. Enjoy
Kids played football, drove cars, went to school, celebrated life; while soldiers, heroes, their brothers struggled to find their way home from war; and young boys watched and grew wiser in their dreams.

the JJ Redick story would be more likely to be a P Diddy song.
