Madness Draft - R1 - Dr Positivity* vs Larry Russell

Post#1 » by durantbird » Mon Apr 7, 2025 2:59 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

C: Cousins (38) / Bonner (10)

87.9/88

We will defend straight up.

DPOY vote getter all defense 1st team PatBev will take on John Wall and play a bit off of him due to his lack of outside shooting
DPOY Vote getter all defense 1st team Kobe stoppper will take on Devin Booker
Great defender Grant Hill will take on Robert Horry
DPOY Vote getter, all defense 1st team Anthony Davis will take on Barkley and will play off of him, daring him to shoot as his version of Charles has nothing.
Demarcus Cousins will take on Bam and will not allow any bullying.

Offensively I had a very nice fitting team. Grant Hill has primary creation responsibility and I dont see anyone on the other team who can come close to defending that.

Barkley is going to have to defend either 28ppg Davis or 27ppg Cousins and that is not good for DrP.

I plan on running a bunch of pick and roll, pick and pop and high low post play between Hill/Davis (34% from 3) and Cousins (36% from 3 on 5 attempts). I have surrounded that trip with awesome shooting from Beverley, Battier, Kerr, Williams and Bonner.

PG: John Wall (2015: 14.8 FGA)
SG: Devin Booker (2021: 19.2 FGA)
SF: Robert Horry (1995: 8.4 FGA)
PF: Charles Barkley (1990: 14.9 FGA)
C: Bam Adebayo (2020: 11.0 FGA)

PG: Tyus Jones (2018: 4.0 FGA)
SG/SF: Steve Smith (2000: 11.0 FGA)
C: Buck Williams (1997: 4.4 FGA)

87.7/ 88

PG: John Wall (38) / Tyus Jones (10)
SG: Devin Booker (38) / Steve Smith (10)
SF: Robert Horry (22) / Steve Smith (26)
PF: Charles Barkley (38) / Robert Horry (10)
C: Bam Adebayo (38) / Buck Williams (10)

GL Larry

Defensive matchups: Wall on Beverley, Booker on Battier, Horry on Hill, Barkley on Davis, Bam on Cousins.

We have balanced mix of Wall/Booker backcourt (a better version of Wall/Beal) beside Barkley and solid defensive anchor in Bam. His team is talented but Hill/Davis/Cousins is frontcourt loaded spacing wise and the Pelicans in 2018 were better after Cousins got injured. The X factor is Steve Smith off the bench while Tyus and the older version of Buck are solid, the latter can provide some physicality against his bigs.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

I liked Hill Davis Cousins. I didn't like Beverley and Battier both starting and playing 38 minutes. Dr P had a little bit more juice.
