Redick Draft - R1 - Laimbeer vs Dr Positivity*

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

PG: Oscar Robertson (1971: 14.7 FGA * .85 = 12.5) - Bucks
SG: Jerry West (1968: 18.2 * .85 = 15.5) - coach
SF: Kawhi Leonard (2020: 19.9 FGA) - Clippers
PF: Al Horford (2018: 10.5 FGA) - 3pt
C: Dwight Howard (2010: 10.2 FGA) - Magic

PG/SG: Jason Terry (2005: 9.3 FGA) - Mavericks
PF: P.J. Tucker (2023: 3.0 FGA) - 76ers
PF: Larry Nance, Jr (2023: 4.7 FGA) - Pelicans

85.6 / 88

PG: Oscar Robertson (38) / Jason Terry (10)
SG: Jerry West (28) / Jason Terry (20)
SF: Kawhi Leonard (38) / Jerry West (10)
PF: Al Horford (28) / P.J. Tucker (10) / Larry Nance, Jr. (10)
C: Dwight Howard (38) / Al Horford (10)

Oscar's write up: "Me and Jerry vs Curry and Penny? We win by at least 70. Jerry steals the ball before they pass halfcourt every time due to today's lack of dribbling fundamentals. Curry isn't a starter in the 1960s. The only reason he scores so many 3s is today's players are too lazy to guard shooters."

My write up:

Defensive matchups: Robertson on Penny, West on Curry, Kawhi on George, Horford on Barkley, Dwight on Lopez.

- We don't play Jeff Withey who arguably is setting a new low for centers we've taken. Terry is the clear best 6th man and as our 4th best perimeter offensive player should be open a lot.

- While Laimbeer has imposing offensive combination of Curry, Penny and Barkley, we have stronger defensive team with West/Kawhi (the best Clippers version)/Horford/Dwight as all great on that end, while offensively we still have a lot of firepower with our two wings and Dwight combination against 2023 Lopez's slower defense. While Dwight is not as good as Barkley, I believe he works great getting fed from Oscar, while Barkley can play with Curry, but isn't his usual style of play.

Brooke Lopez ( 2023 ) 11.5
Charles Barkley ( 1990 ) 14.9
Paul George ( 2020 ) 16.3
Anfernee Hardaway ( 1996 ) 14.8
Steph Curry ( 2015 ) 16.8

Jeff Withey ( 2014 ) 3
Reggie Bullock ( 2023 ) 6.0
Nate McMillan ( 1991 ) 3.9

87.2

Brooke Lopez (38) / Jeff Withey (10)
Charles Barkley (38) / Reggie Bullock (10)
Paul George (38) / Reggie Bullock (10)
Anfernee Hardaway (38) / Nate McMillan (10)
Steph Curry (38) / Nate McMillan (10)

We'll be dynamic on offense with Penny, Steph, Barkley, and George. This is past-peak Oscar, and he wasn't much of a defender at the top of his game. He won't provide much POA defense against Penny, who should feast with that supporting cast.

We match up well on defense - Lozez/Howard, Barkley/Horford, George/Kawhi, Penny/West, Steph/Oscar. As said, this is older Oscar and Penny's length should allow him to slow West.

Bottom line, I feel we've got a little more top end talent.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy
