3-1 Comebacks Pairs Draft - R1 - MadNess* vs Fadeaway_J

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

The name of the game for us is halfcourt precision. We have one of the most resilient postseason scorers ever in Kawhi, who can always generate a good look for himself and rarely turns the ball over. Our other big guns, Malone and Billups, are similarly low-mistake players. Billups and Malone should run an excellent pick-and-roll, and Clippers Kawhi can also function as a ballhandler in those actions as well. With spacing from everyone else on the roster except our backup center Birdman, they will always have room to operate in their preferred spots. Sheed keeps the opposing 5 from camping out at the basket with impunity, and KCP's movement shooting provides an additional wrinkle. Defensively, we have no weak spots to speak of, with Sheed/Birdman patrolling the paint, Kawhi/O'Neale on the wing, and KCP/Suggs at the point of attack. Malone remains a strong post defender with excellent hands, and Billups is solid with his size and intelligence.

Matchup
- Defensive assignments to start will be KCP-Kidd, Kawhi-Luka, Billups-Green, Sheed-AK, Malone-Jokic. The best strategy for slowing Jokic down is having someone who can battle him in the post while allowing your primary rim protector to provide help, and Malone is one of the few PFs who could legitimately make Jokic work in this regard. Not only is he incredibly strong, but he also has quick hands to deny him easy catches. Sheed will also see time on Jokic.
- Ness has a lot of talent, but guys like Kidd, AK-47, Outlaw, and Caruso give us plenty of places to help off and crowd the space for Jokic and Luka. Similarly, while Luka and Amar'e seems like a great pick-and-roll pairing, it doesn't really work when Danny Green is the only spot-up shooter on the roster. Our offense has a cleaner fit and much better spacing.
- While has some great defenders, Luka and to a lesser extent Jokic can definitely be attacked out in space. 32 minutes of Amar'e gives us an open sore to pick at with Malone, whether in iso or pick-and-roll.

Good luck Ness.

PG: Jason Kidd (39) | Alex Caruso (9)
SG: Luka Dončić (39) | Alex Caruso (9)
SF: Danny Green (26) | Andrei Kirilenko (22)
PF: Andre Kirilenko (16) | Amar’e Stoudemire (32)
Cc: Nikola Jokic (39) | Bo Outlaw (9)

Total: 87.9 | 88.0 FGA

22’-23’ Nikola Jokic 14.8 FGA
03’-04’ Andrei Kirilenko 11.9 FGA
99’-00’ Jason Kidd 12.8 FGA
19’-20’ Alex Caruso 4.5 FGA
24’-25’ Luka Dončić 20.5 FGA
02’-03’ Bo Outlaw 3.5 FGA
06’-07’ Amar’e Stoudemire 12.9 FGA
19’-20’ Danny Green 7.0

GL Fade

Jokic and Luka are like bread and butter together. Probably the best pair in this game. Kidd (All NBA 1!) is an elite defender and play maker and would thrive with those two. AK is the ideal pairing at PF for Jokic. Nobody remembers how good AK was, and I have the best version of him. Danny Green as the 5th starter is excellent.

Off the bench we have an elite 3 and D guard in Caruso who knows his roll. We have the best 6th man in this draft in Amar’e catching lobs from any of Kidd, Luka or Jokic. All NBA 1! Bo provides hustle and 6 good fouls.

AK on Malone, Kidd on Billups, Luka can hide on KCP, Green on Kawhi, Jokic on Sheed. No outliners here.

I have the best bench piece period in Stoudemire.

Overall I think the Luka/Jokic combo with ELITE role players around them is too much for anyone to handle.

Fades 3rd big in Anderson is what does him in here. I got big minutes from AK, Amare and Jokic.
