Draft Night Trades Draft - R1 - Fadeaway_J vs Snakebites*

Post#1 » by durantbird » Sun Jun 8, 2025 7:57 am

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

This is as explosive a transition team as you can build around Magic. Everyone two-through-five can run the lanes and finish the break, with D-Rob and Siakam in particular having amazing end-to-end speed as a big man combo. We will run relentlessly to generate easy looks before the opposition can get set up defensively. In the halfcourt, we have one of the GOAT offensive hubs in Magic, a dominant interior force in Robinson, and a bunch of quality secondary scorers who can give you 25-30 on any given night. Our running game will be fueled by a monster defensive group, with D-Rob protecting the paint, Jones and Wiggins locking down on the perimeter, and Siakam doing a little bit of everything. The spacing is very solid with Jones, Wiggins, and Siakam, plus Redick off the bench.

Matchup
- We start off with Jones on Steph, Wiggins on Klay, Siakam on Penny, Magic on Lewis, and D-Rob on Dwight. Pretty good switchability on the perimeter with the exception of Magic, plus D-Rob is always on hand to plug any gaps near the rim.
- Both teams are pretty potent offensively, but I feel we have the advantage at the other end, with Magic our only starter who isn't at least very good in that regard, and at least his size makes it harder for him to attack compared to someone like Steph.
- Dwight typically requires an athletic advantage to successful offensively, and that isn't remotely the case against D-Rob. I think we can win that matchup pretty decisively.

Good luck Snake.

PG: Steph Curry 2014-15 16.8 FGA- MVP, All NBA First
SG: Klay Thompson 2014-15 16.9 FGA- All NBA Third
SF: Anfernee Hardaway 95-96 14.8 FGA- All NBA First, 3rd in MVP Voting
PF: Rashard Lewis 2008-09 13.8 FGA- All Star
C: Dwight Howard 09-10 10.2 FGA- All NBA First, DPOY, All Defensive First, 4th in MVP Voting

B: Andre Iguodala 14-15 6.4 FGA- Finals MVP
B: Jonathan Isaac 23-24 4.9 FGA
B: Andrew Bogut 15-16 4.0 FGA

87.8/88 FGA

Rotation:

Curry (37)/Hardaway (11)
Klay (37)/Iggy (11)
Penny (26)/Iggy (22)
Lewis (36)/Isaac (12)
Howard (36)/Bogut (12)

Alrighty, lets not beat around the bush here. I think I've built an absolute offensive juggernaut in this game that also has defense in all of the right places. Not only do I have the splash brothers, but I also have Rashard Lewis giving me a THIRD player who makes over 3 three pointers per night to add to my offense. This is the type of environment that Dwight Howard thrived offensively in, albeit at a vastly more impressive scale. Plunked right in the middle of this is Penny Hardaway, a Magic Johnson in his own right- 6 foot seven with elite playmaking, who slides into this well spaced offense ideally. There is so much off-ball ability and spacing on this team that I think Penny will be able to simply dominate in this matchup.

Smoothing things over on the defensive end, of course Dwight is one of the better defensive anchors in this game, and Klay is a rock solid and large wing who is also capable of handing POA duties, as he so often did alongside Steph in real life. Off the bench I bring a pair of Warrior defensive stalwarts in Andre Iguodala and Andrew Bogut, along with a versatile defender in Jonathan Isaac. This team simply has answers to anything our opponent might throw at us. I strongly considered starting Iguodala, but minutes wise finals MVP Iggy is essentially a 6th starter here, and he'll be thrown at the opposing wings quite a bit.

Offensively Klay starts the game on Magic with Penny on Wiggins and Steph on EJ.

Simply put, I think the high octane offensive output and impeccable fit, coupled with the highest three point shooting output any team in this game will be capable of, and I think that even a great Magic transition team will have trouble keeping up here.

ChatGPT vote Snakebites - Snakebites advances

https://chatgpt.com/share/6847b45a-074c-800a-94c3-96b09058ada5

Spoiler:
This is a fascinating matchup, pitting Fadeaway_J’s transition-and-defense-centric Magic-led team against Snakebites’s pace-and-space offensive juggernaut. Let’s break it down by components to judge who likely wins in a 7-game series, assuming full health.

---

Offense

Snakebites

Offense built around peak floor spacing: Curry, Klay, Lewis, and Penny all can shoot or create.

Dwight gets an Orlando-style spread floor, which historically worked great.

Penny is a huge secondary creator who fits well in this system.

Three elite shooters (>3 3PM/game) + elite playmakers = high offensive ceiling.

Fadeaway_J

More diverse scoring: Inside (Robinson), mid-range (Siakam, Magic), wings (Jones/Wiggins), perimeter (Redick).

Transition scoring is elite with Magic, D-Rob, Siakam, and Wiggins.

Halfcourt scoring could be more stagnant if Magic is slowed.

Advantage: Snakebites, due to superior spacing and modern offensive firepower. Magic's team will need stops and transition to keep pace.

---

Defense

Fadeaway_J

D-Rob is one of the top defenders in the game—big-time rim protection.

Jones, Wiggins, and Siakam are versatile, long, and quick defenders.

Magic is the clear defensive weak spot.

Snakebites

Dwight is a top-tier paint anchor.

Klay is solid on-ball. Iggy is elite but comes off the bench.

Penny and Rashard aren’t known for defensive toughness.

Curry can be hunted.

Slight edge: Fadeaway_J, especially with better perimeter defenders and a more complete defensive front five.

---

Benches

Snakebites

Iggy is a game-changer defensively, can guard 1–4.

Bogut gives solid rim protection, Isaac adds versatility.

All three bench players bring defensive value.

Fadeaway_J

Redick offers elite spacing but can be hunted.

Livingston has size and intelligence, but limited offensive impact.

Gortat is serviceable but outclassed by Dwight/Bogut.

Edge: Snakebites, better versatility and defense off the bench.

---

Playmaking & Fit

Snakebites has ideal spacing for modern offense and lets Penny cook in a role he thrives in. Great off-ball synergy.

Fadeaway_J is built around Magic as a heliocentric engine. It’s more traditional, but Magic makes it sing. Still, outside of transition, it’s harder to see consistent scoring vs. strong defenders.

Slight edge: Snakebites, due to seamless modern offensive cohesion.

---

X-Factors

Fadeaway_J: If Magic dominates a less physical defender like Klay, and if D-Rob neutralizes Dwight, they can win the possession game.

Snakebites: If Curry goes nuclear or if Penny exploits Magic on defense repeatedly, the series could swing hard.

---

Verdict: Snakebites in 7

The offensive output Snakebites can generate with three elite shooters, two capable creators (Steph & Penny), and a dominant interior finisher is too much to bet against in a 7-game series.

Fadeaway_J has the better defense, but Curry+Klay+Lewis on the arc with Penny driving and Dwight rolling is incredibly tough to guard.

Magic’s team will win some games through defensive stops and transition offense, but in the halfcourt, Snake’s team will be more efficient over the course of a series.

Winner: Snakebites 4–3
