Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

Matchup
- Defensive assignments: Billups vs Paul, Luka vs Amen, Battier/Christie vs Allen, Peja vs JJJ, Davis vs Malone.
- We match up nicely here. We've got Billups against Paul, plus Davis against Malone, both gonna disrupt their pick and roll action. Battier can defend either Paul/Allen/Malone, with Christie/Barry giving as additional options against Paul/Allen. Peja has the size to contest JJJ on the perimeter and can stick with him at the 3-point line, but if JJJ tries to grind inside, he’s immediately met by Davis, Wallace, or both. WThey don’t have another elite wing-sized defender to throw at Luka, and Peja compounds that problem. Amen may be stretched thin against Peja’s size and shooting, while putting JJJ on him drags their best rim protector away from the paint. Either way, Peja forces them into a no-win decision that opens the floor for Luka and Davis. With Davis and Wallace behind it all, our defense holds the edge.
- Luka and AD are a great fit, with Billups and Peja as perfect complementary options providing superb spacing, along with Battier/Barry/Christie. Paul–Allen–Malone vs Luka–Peja–AD is an interesting scoring battle, but I think our trio has the edge thanks to our leading duo. Billups is a clear upgrade over JJJ as a fourth option, and Battier is the better glue guy at SF.

B: Thabo Sefolosha 3.7 FGA 11-12- Backup Defensive Wing

Rotation:

CP3 (37)/Thompson (11)
Allen (37)/Thabo (11)
Thompson (20)/Thabo (5)/Batum (23)
Malone (37)/Jackson (11)
Jackson (24)/Mutombo (24)

Alright let’s do this.

First, a bit about my team. CP/Malone is a perfect pick and roll combination- both are MVP level talents at the absolute peak of their powers. It’s not quite as sexy a combo as Luka/AD, but it’s no less effective. Ray Allen is the perfect third pillar to this offense too- he’s an elite shooter and shot creator at this stage in his career. JJJ slots perfectly as a fourth option here.

As for this matchup, I think Peja at the 4 is a huge vulnerability here. The big athletic JJJ will have a lot of fun with Peja on him, and CP3 is exactly the crafty playmaker to hunt those mismatches for days. Luka also starting compounds this issue. My 4th and 5th options (Amen and JJJ) are not only capable offensive players (not spot up guys like Battier), but are both elite athletes who will be able to blow right by Luka and Peja respectively.

Defensively I’d argue we stack up much better. I have two effective point of attack defenders of different sizes in CP and Amen to match up to Billups and Luka, respectively. I also have two large mobile defensive players with size to throw at AD, while on the other side AD is stuck with the highly physical job of covering Malone for nearly 40 minutes.

This is to say nothing of the rebounding and general toughness gap I have with Malone, JJJ, and Mutombo as a super 6th man.

Defensively I’d say we match up much better.

Vote Snake!
