Dwight Howard Draft - R1 - Mr Ringer* vs Snakebites

Post#1 » by durantbird » Fri Oct 3, 2025 12:24 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

Luka Doncic 21' - 20.5 Category 6
Mario Elie 95' - 6.0 Category 3
Scottie Pippen 91' - 14.1 Category 7
Rasheed Wallace 08' - 11.3 Category 5
Shaquille O'Neal 01' - 19.2 Category 2

Chris Paul 25' - 7.1 Category 8
James Jones 12' - 3.0 (2.9) Category 4
Horace Grant 02' - 6.8 Category 1

88/88

Luka 30\Paul 18
Elie 28\Luka 10\Jones 10
Pippen 35\Jones 13
Wallace 30\Grant 18
Shaq 38\Wallace 10

Defensive assignments:
Luka on KCP, Elie on Nash, Scottie on Bron, Sheed on Vince, Shaq on Dwight
My defense is the tougher task, luckily I got the great answer for it. Everyone around Luka is a great defender and can cover all assignments on switches.
Sheed and Scottie is everything I need on my wings, Elie covering the perimeter with Luka hiding on KCP. Shaq in his eoak defensive years that time taking Dwight to a battle.

The other side is where I thrive.
Luka and Shaq is one of the best duos possible to assemble.
And I have 4 3pt shooters around Shaq.
Luka is running the offense, one of the best playmakers in the game.
Scottie is the second playmaker and creator.
Shaq is the force inside, the strongest, most dominant force ever. Even prime Dwight won't be able to contain that, no one can.
Sheed will do the work around, mobile, independent creator, adds more of everything to my offense, can pass, can shoot, can take his defense inside, a threat in the paint, ine the post and beyond the arc.
Mario Elie is a force that can't be ignored.
Any open look he can get he can score, anytime of the game, and he proved that very well along his career. And you can be sure that such high IQ like I have in Luka, CP3, Scottie etc. Will find him with no problems.
The liability of Nash on the perimeter will be used greatly.

My bench adds me more versatility, more experience. CP3 and Horace are still great starters, smart, leaders can score and cover for the starters when gone.
All 3 can defend on high pace and high intensity.
Jones adds more shooting
CP3 always the highest level possible of playmaking and passing.
Grant keeps my defense incredible and with great creativity and flexibility on offense.

Great team Snake, GL

Rotation:

Nash (37)/Jrue (11)
Jrue (19)/KCP (25)/Battier (4)
Carter (36)/Battier (12)
Lebron (38)/Battier (10)
Howard (37)/Perkins (11)

Alrighty, lets do this.

This team is built around 2 of the best ball handlers in the history of the game, and two of its smartest players. Surrounding them is a pace and space lineup that is strong defensively and has a clear identity. Orlando Dwight is the perfect roll man to complement Nash and Lebron. I'd also argue that Nash and Lebron can be effective in the two man game together. I think we've seen that Lebron has the ability to play with a suitable ball handler as a roll man, and that he and Nash will also be very effective together. Vince Carter has the ability to create his own shot, but is also a good enough shooter and cutter to be a terrific complementary piece here as well. The overall depth speaks for itself.

As to this matchup- I have a few key points.

1) Luka and Shaq are not an optimal fit on either end of the floor. Shaq is not really a pick and roll player, and the spread pick and roll is Luka's bread and butter. And on the defensive end the pair is extremely exploitable in the pick and roll, a play my team is extremely apt to perform. Sheed isn't an ideal offensive fit for Luka either, and while Sheed and Shaq fit well together defensively, that's undermined by forcing Sheed to guard prime Vince Carter.

2) Pippen can only guard one guy. Mario Elie is not a point of attack defender and Nash is going to run absolute circles around him. Rasheed Wallace trying to guard Vince Carter is also very problematic.

3) By contrast, I've got Dwight who can do a solid job against Shaq, and I've got multiple larger defenders (Jrue, KCP, Shane, Lebron) who can all spend time on Luka, though initially it will of course be Jrue Holiday. It's simply a defensive matchup that plays much better to my strengths than it does to his.

Off the bench, KCP, Shane, and Perkins are all terrific role players who either help on defense, help spread the floor, or do both at the same time. The contrast with Ringer's bench (old man Grant, old man CP3, and James Jones) is pretty stark.

Overall I think in terms of both fit and high end talent in its prime that my team has a decisive edge, and should be able to take this matchup.

No offence but I'm kind of amazed Snake isn't winning this.
