Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.
1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.
Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance.
EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.
You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.
If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

Defensive matchups: We'll start with Thompson on Doncic, Billups on Suns Bridges, Pierce on Peja, Tatum on Horford, Hakeem on Russell.
- His team is built around Doncic on offense and we have a great mix of bodies to throw at him primarily using Thompson and Tatum along with a few Smart minutes. Hakeem's help D will also be critical on him as he can be near the basket guarding Russell. Tatum at PF's defense is especially valuable in this matchup being able to switch on the perimeter against Doncic offense. With Thompson in the starting lineup this is an ideal anti-Doncic defense.
- We have the stronger defensive team as we will take advantage of the Doncic and Peja that end and look for them on switches. Even Horford having to guard a perimeter star could be an issue. Tatum and Billups are kind of better versions of the PF/PGs Hakeem succeeded with. We don't have any offensive player as good as Doncic but we have four of the next best ones, while Russell will do a good job on Hakeem our perimeter guys can go off to make up for it.
- While in a vacuum I prefer Terry as 6th man to Smart, Terry's D becomes a problem when he's playing with Doncic and/or Peja, so Smart's 3/D play may be more useful here. Old Batum and Thomas vs Thabo and Grant seems close.
Overall we have the stronger talent as if you remove Doncic/Russell and Hakeem/Tatum, we have Billups, Pierce, Thompson, Smart, Batum, Thomas vs Peja, Horford, Bridges, Terry, Thabo, Grant.

Good luck, Dr P!
RotationsPG: Luka Doncic (38) / Jason Terry (10)
SG: Mikal Bridges (28) / Jason Terry (20)
SF: Peja Stojakovic (28) / Mikal Bridges (10) / Thabo Sefolosha (10)
PF: Al Horford (28) / Peja Stojakovic (10) / Jerami Grant (10)
C: Bill Russell (38) / Al Horford (10)
OffenseWe run a PnR/PnP-heavy offense. Luka is one of the best floor generals of all time. Horford has a physical advantage vs Dr P's small-ball PFs. He can either roll to the basket or pop from 3. Russ would have been an elite roll man in the modern game thanks to his freakish athleticism. Was also a terrific ball handler and facilitator at the C position sorta like a rich man's Bam (and a rich man's Hakeem on defense). Peak Peja finished 4th in the MVP voting and made the all-NBA 2nd team. Can either stretch the floor for Luka or provide secondary shot creation. I'd argue he provides comparable impact to Tatum who has also peaked at #4 in the MVP voting. Terry brings additional scoring and shooting off the bench averaging an impressive 60.6 TS% in his selected season on 50/42/84 shooting splits. Bridges is the ultimate glue guy. He's perfectly happy in a low-usage role feeding off of Luka's gravity.
DefensePlan A
We switch all the non-Hakeem and Amen Thompson actions. Bridges is at his absolute defensive peak finishing 2nd in the DPOY voting and making the All-Defensive 1st team. Can comfortably assume POA duties and switch on wings. Russ and Horford are mobile switchable bigs who can defend both the paint and the perimeter. When one of them is involved in screening actions, the other pre-switches to Hakeem. This way, Hakeem is always facing a reliable post-up defender. Luka and Peja peel switch to the corners. Their primary job is to contest the corner 3. They may lack the lateral quicks to stay in front of slashers, but they have the positional size at 6'7'' and 6'10'' respectively to reliably contest shots on the perimeter. If they are beaten off the dribble, Russ and/or Horford got their back in the paint. We risk the 3 from Amen Thomspon to blitz the ball handler or double Hakeem. As great as Hakeem was, he lacked the court vision to consistently find the open man when doubled.
Plan B
Amen Thompson and Smart are unreliable shooters, to say the least. Hakeem and Kert Thomas are non-3pt shooters. When three of those guys are on the floor, we don't need a switch-heavy scheme anymore. Horford drops back to protect the paint vs Hakeem. Russ roams to provide cover wherever necessary. Bridges/Thabo assume primary POA duties.
FGA1965 Bill Russell 10.7 (=12.6x0.85)

2022 Luka Doncic 21.6

2004 Peja Stojakovic 17.1

2018 Al Horford 10.5

2022 Mikal Bridges 10.5

2005 Jason Terry 9.3
2012 Thabo Sefolosha 3.7
2017 Jerami Grant 4.1
Total: 87.5

Looks like we'll need some help on this one.
I'll need to figure out how the AI tiebreaker works. Not too experienced with that.

Just dump both writeups into ChatGPT and ask who would win in a seven-game series.

I won in all the GhatGPT combinations I tried so hopefully Snake doesn't do it in a weird way that dooms me!

Alright, this is a really fun matchup between two strong, balanced builds — one led by Hakeem + Tatum + Pierce + Billups, and the other powered by Doncic + Russell + Peja + Horford + Bridges. Let’s break it down carefully.
Team 1 (Hakeem-led)
Starting 5
PG: Chauncey Billups (2008)
SG: Amen Thompson (2025)
SF: Paul Pierce (2008)
PF: Jayson Tatum (2024)
C: Hakeem Olajuwon (1993)
Bench
Marcus Smart, Nicolas Batum, Kurt Thomas
FGA: 87.9 / 88
Strengths
Elite two-way versatility: You’ve got four high-level defenders (Thompson, Smart, Tatum, Hakeem) and no defensive liabilities.
Interior anchor: Peak ’93 Hakeem is the best defensive player in this series and an elite post scorer who will test Russell and Horford inside.
Switchability: Thompson/Tatum/Smart give you the perfect tools to throw at Doncic.
Balanced offense: Billups and Pierce as steady shot-creators and Tatum as the modern offensive engine. You can hunt Peja/Doncic on switches.
Weaknesses
Spacing: With Thompson and Hakeem, the shooting tightens up. Billups, Pierce, and Tatum can all shoot, but the halfcourt might feel cramped.
Playmaking: Billups is solid, but not a true drive-and-kick orchestrator like Luka. The offense can stagnate against elite defenses.
Bench scoring: Smart, Batum, Thomas are low-usage, mostly defensive role players.
Team 2 (Luka-led)
Starting 5
PG: Luka Doncic (2022)
SG: Mikal Bridges (2022)
SF: Peja Stojakovic (2004)
PF: Al Horford (2018)
C: Bill Russell (1965)
Bench
Jason Terry, Thabo Sefolosha, Jerami Grant
Strengths
Luka-led offense: By far the best initiator in the series. He’ll dominate ball possession, leveraging Peja’s shooting and Horford’s pick/pop spacing.
Modern spacing + vintage defense: Bridges, Peja, Horford all shoot well; Russell covers any defensive holes.
High IQ ball movement: Horford and Russell add playmaking from the frontcourt, giving Luka multiple read options.
Depth: Terry adds elite efficiency and instant offense off the bench; Bridges, Thabo, and Grant can all defend.
Weaknesses
Defensive mismatches: Luka and Peja are both targets. Against a Tatum/Pierce team that hunts mismatches, this can be exposed.
Interior scoring: Outside of Russell (who’s not a scorer), Luka is the only player who really pressures the rim.
Physicality: This team could get worn down in a grind-it-out Hakeem series.
Matchup Breakdown
When Hakeem’s Team Has the Ball
Hakeem vs. Russell is historic. Russell can bother him with length and quickness, but Hakeem’s midrange touch and counter moves will still produce efficient looks.
Tatum and Pierce attacking Luka/Peja on switches gives Boston clear perimeter advantages.
Amen Thompson will mostly cut and attack closeouts — his lack of shooting lets Russell or Horford sag off to help, but that spacing is manageable if Billups/Pierce/Tatum hit threes.
Billups as the steady hand means fewer turnovers; he’ll exploit Horford’s drop coverage in pick-and-rolls.
Edge: Slight to Hakeem’s team (they can score more ways, even with limited spacing).
When Luka’s Team Has the Ball
Luka’s playmaking is the biggest weapon here — but Amen Thompson + Smart + Tatum give you one of the best possible defensive tandems against him. Expect forced passes and lots of tough stepbacks.
Peja’s spacing will be critical, but Tatum can switch onto him if needed.
Russell/Horford can pass and screen, but they’re not scorers — Hakeem can roam and protect the rim freely.
If Luka gets doubled, your defensive plan (forcing him to find non-shooters or Peja under pressure) is sound.
Edge: Slight to Luka’s team (he’s still Luka, and he’ll generate efficient looks for Peja, Horford, and Bridges).
Benches
Smart > Terry defensively, Terry > Smart offensively.
Batum/Thomas are low-impact but steady; Grant/Thabo add more versatility for Luka’s side.
Benches are about even.
Intangibles & Fit
Chemistry/Fit: Hakeem + Tatum + Billups + Pierce feels more natural — balanced inside-out offense and defensive synergy.
Star hierarchy: Luka is the most heliocentric star, but Hakeem’s dominance is easier to integrate.
Defensive floor: Hakeem’s team wins here by a wide margin — no weak links. Luka’s team can’t hide Luka and Peja at once.
Verdict:
This goes the distance. Luka’s brilliance and shooting keep every game close, but Hakeem’s dominance, combined with Boston’s switchy, disciplined defense, is a slightly better team formula in a playoff grind.
Prediction: Hakeem/Tatum/Billups team wins in 7 (4–3).
Hakeem averages ~27/12/4/4 with elite rim protection.
Tatum and Pierce take turns torching Luka/Peja on the perimeter.
Luka has a few transcendent games but gets worn down by constant physical, switch-heavy defense.
Final scoreline:
Team Hakeem-Billups-Tatum defeats Team Luka-Russell, 4–3.
Dr P advances.

GG flaco, based on these votes I think you might have won with Wilt over Russell as he's normally more popular (Peja to 2003 would've covered the FGA difference), but I respect you drafting your conscience.

Wilt was drafted by the Warriors, so he could not have used him.

GG, Dr P! Good luck in the Semis!
Was on the fence between Horford and Jrue as my 4th star.
PG: Luka (38) / Jrue (10)
SG: Jrue (28) / Thabo (20)
SF: Nets Bridges (38) / Peja (10)
PF: Peja (28) / Diaw (20)
C: Russ (38) / Paul Reed (10)
Not sure whether a Jrue team would have fared any better. Probably not. I think Dr P has a great team. Well deserved win!
