Giannis Draft - R1 - JimmyPlopper* vs trelos6

Post#1 » by durantbird » Wed Jul 1, 2026 9:05 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, you may post a vote by commenting to this post (notice we will not be using a poll) - all participants of the draft are invited and encouraged to post a vote, so as other regular participants of the games in the forum. You are not required to explain your vote, but you are welcome to do so if you want.

First to 4 votes advances. There is no AI vote when the host is playing in the matchup.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

Minutes breakdown

PG: Steph Curry (2017) 28 / John Stockton (2001) 20
SG: Danny Green (2015) 36 / Steph Curry (2017) 12
SF: Andrei Kirilenko (2005) 34 / Dāvis Bertāns (2020) 14
PF: Draymond Green (2016) 32 / Chet Holmgren (2026) 16
C: Pau Gasol (2011) 32 / Chet Holmgren (2026) 16

Visualising my rotations.

I have Steph Curry. He'll do his perpetual motion routine, and CP3 can chase him around screens all game. I don't need Curry to score 50. His threat will force KG to help, Pierce and Butler to tag and switch. Once I get the defense into rotation, it will unleash my great passing lineups.

Defensively, Draymond can match Butler's strength, AK47 has the length to bother Pierce.

When Stockton comes on, he'll push the pace. He'll typically play with shooters, finding Green, Bertāns, and Chet. He'll take some pressure off Curry with his ball handling. Curry will play a little with Stockton, but he won't need to bring the ball up in those minutes, saving some energy for the final quarter.

One of my lineups which may get more run, is the middle of 2nd quarter with Stockton, Curry, AK47, Draymond and Chet. This lineup, has the potential to be the death lineup. I think the passing, shooting and defense is at it's most balanced with this lineup.

Anyways, GL to Jimmy. I do like his squad. It will be a good hypothetical matchup.

Trelos has built a really smart offensive ecosystem around 2017 Steph. The goal isn't necessarily for Curry to score 50—it's to weaponize his gravity and force defensive rotations that Draymond, AK47, Pau, Stockton, and Chet can exploit with their passing. The spacing is excellent, and the Curry/Stockton stagger ensures there's always an elite decision-maker on the floor.

My approach is to attack the engine rather than the symptoms. Chris Paul is one of the best screen navigators and point-of-attack defenders ever, while Butler, Pierce, Garnett, Horford, and Chandler give me size and versatility behind him. I think this is one of the few defensive groups capable of switching selectively without completely breaking apart.

Offensively, I don't have Curry's gravity, but I believe I have the two best isolation creators in the series in Jimmy Butler and Paul Pierce. Their ability to generate efficient offense late in the clock forces Trelos' defense to defend one-on-one, where I think I have an edge. Garnett also presents problems as a high-post facilitator and mid-range threat against his frontcourt.

Ultimately, I think this series comes down to whether Trelos' beautiful ball movement can consistently overcome a defense built around elite perimeter pressure and Hall of Fame interior help. It should be a chess match between perhaps the league's best motion offense and one of its most complete defensive teams.

Good luck trelos!

Vote Jimmy
Steph as a SG next to Stockton isn’t good enough for 17 minutes, and the rest of the firepower is limited with Gasol and Dray

Vote Jimmy, I think too much is riding on Steph and Pau offensively and 14 minutes of Bertans at the 3 is a problem.
