Gm A Team: draft order: option 2 wins.

option one: when the game ends, Gm A Team will use the current real life standings to determine draft order.

option two: when the game ends, Gm A Team will use the game's rosters to determine a simulated draft order. how that will be done is yet to be determined and would be discussed after if this option wins.

no poll, want to make sure only gm's vote.

- just copy and paste your choice into a post.
- discussion on this specific issue is welcomed.
-you may edit your post at any time.
- there is no deadline to vote as of now.

option one: using real life standings

pros:
1. there is no bias, very clear cut
2. much easier to determine and keep track of.

cons:
1. teams that are good in real life but have rebuilt in the game will be punished.
2. game rosters are simply too different than real life rosters.

option two: simulating draft order

pros:
1. rewards teams fairly according to the direction their roster has taken.
2. enhances the simulation principles the game is built on.

cons:
1. the process of deciding order is an unknown. peer judging? video game simulation?
2. the process of deciding order can be very biased.

I vote OPTION 2 as it seems the most logical to a SIM.

I believe the 1st pro in option 1 is kind of wrong as it is biased in it's own way(pro bad RL teams in win now mode)

in fact this could be another con to option 1...

- teams that are not so good in real life are now damn good in da game yet get rewarded with higher picks.

option 2 - Gremz said he is willing to load every roster into 2k9 and do multiple sims to determine order which should avoid bias but so should a vote. We determine winners('win now' - 'rebuild') by voting so if you feel voting for the draft could be biased tha same could be said for that process IMO.

I don't think that it is any more biased than getting screwed for rebuilding or rewarded for making a bad team good.

ie. why would the PIstons trade a lottery protected pick if it is based on RL otherwise no need for LP on a pick as we will easily make the playoffs unless a few guys go down with injury?

As more teams in this game have headed towards win now mode can we expect bias in this draft order vote as well?

my 50 cent ;)

I'll vote option 2. Be kinda dumb if someone turned the Knicks around and got the #1 pick with it.

I choose:
option one: when the game ends, Gm A Team will use the current real life standings to determine draft order.

We have always based the first round picks upon what the real life team is doing. With Denver's GM in win now mode he is likely to build a team that is good enough to seriously impact the first rounder he gave me. If he is somehow able to turn his team into a contender I am going to be really pissed off if we do the simulation because I wouldn't have taken on Kmart's contract for a low value first rounder.

Option 2 since i m also heading towards a massive rebuild and trying to offload the core and get young guns into my roster.

I'll throw a vote in for Option 2.

I guess it's a tough one with so many second and third time players used to the real life situation system, and haven't been aquriring picks with a new system in mind.

Option 1, status quo for me. But I really don't mind either way.

I think the chance of our keeping the game going through the entire season is pretty slim, and I don't think a draft in January makes any sense. But, if somehow we do make it to the draft, I have a preference for plan A, just to avoid the inevitable recriminations about how whatever method we come up with is unfair.

Option 1, since it's always been like this.

I say that we do not do a draft, but if we do I say option 1.

Option 1

-I think that option 2 would work, but I think there may be some very hard feelings and arguments that could develop

I'd probably be in favor for "Option 1" just because that's the way it has been in previous competitions, but I really don't mind either..

Option 2, some teams have completely rebuilt their teams and have either gone pretender or contender, the draft order should be set on how the actual finished product looks likes. It shouldn't be too hard to set a ranking of all 30 teams by vote.

As a newbie to GM a Team, I am uncertain of how a draft is significant to this game. Would someone please enlighten me?

We hold the draft before the end of the game so that teams can factor in draft picks into their final roster.

I'm for option 1- this is how it's been done so i was assuming this is how we were doing it this time also.

IF option 1 wins I suggest it be tha last time it is used and that future versions use the logical SIM style that is more in tune with the spirit of the game.

Well that would be fair. If there was going to be a change we should have done so early in the game so that those who have been a part of this league for a long time could adjust their planning accordingly.
