New GM a Team Transactions Thread

Post#1 » by skorff26 » Wed Apr 8, 2009 12:58 pm

Trading has begun, unless you don't have a roster posted then you still need to post your roster before you begin trading.

TRADING RULES
1. All trades must be legal trades, all rules must be followed when completing a trade
a helpful site is http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#Q69 also feel free to ask me or another GM a question.
2. You ARE allowed to trade back to back 1st rounders in this game
3. Also once your trade has been approved, there is NO trade restrictions on recently acquired players
4. When posting a trade include the salaries and show that the trade works, also include a brief explanation.
5. E-mail me any veto requests, I will make a decision on those requests. Please don't overuse your right to veto, only use it if the trade is very bad.
6. Once both parties have accepted a trade, there is a 24 hour processing period to check for errors and to allow time for any vetoes; once the processing period is over, I will approve the trade as soon as I'm able to and then you can update your rosters.

GM a Team Schedule
1. April 8th Trading begins with 2008-2009 salaries
2. April 16th 2009 draft lottery
3. April 30th at 8:00 PM est, trading stops temporarily
4. April 30th at 8:00 PM est, switch over to 2009-2010 salaries
5. May 1st at midnight est, trading begins and 2009 NBA draft begins
6. Once the draft is finished, trading will stop
7. Free agency will being right after the draft.
8. After the free agency period is over, trading will commence; there will also be a 1 or 2 week period where teams can negotiate contract extensions.
9. Trading stops at some point: not to sure, any suggestions are welcome and post them in the discussion thread, (I was hoping to have it right after the release of 2k10, and then we could do the sim right then, but i couldn't find a release date; I saw somewhere that it is in October but that may be too long to go on with the game; thus I'm open to any suggestions)
10. We perform a sim with the rosters at that point
11. We perform the lottery with the standings, trading begins
12. 2 or 3 days later, the 2010 draft will occur
13. after the draft, trading stops and 2010 free agency will begin
14. after 2010 free agency, there will be a one week period to complete any final trades
15. trading stops, GM's will have one week to write a write-up on their team
16. GM's will then have one week to vote on, 1) which team has improved his team the most for the present compared to the beginning of the game 2) which team has improved his team the most for the future compared with the beginning of the game 3) Which team has done the best overall in re-tooling their roster.

-Sidenote: Also the 2009-2010 salary cap will be set to 57.3 million and the luxury tax will be 68.54 million; also they will be the same for the 2010-2011 season for those GM's looking to get cap space then.
-MLE 5.848 million
-I got the cap numbers from http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=11713 I'm not much of a hoopsworld fan, but this seems pretty reasonable and it's the best numbers that I could find for the salary cap.
-I got the the luxury tax value since the salary cap is 51% of the BRI; 57.3 mill/0.51 = 112.35 mill = BRI and the luxury tax is 61% of the BRI so 112.35 millx 0.61 = 68.54 mill

DET and MIN have a deal to announce:

DET INCOMING:
Jason Collins $6,200,000 (expiring)
Shelden Williams $3,395,760 (expiring)
Kevin Ollie $797,581 (expiring)

for
MIN INCOMING:
Jason Maxiell $1,877,572
Walter Herrmann $2,000,000
Kwame Brown $4,000,000
DET 2nd Rounder 09
MIN 2nd Rounder 09 returned
DET 1st 2011, unprotected

Deal works on trade checker: Trade ID #5050623. DET Pistons cut 9 mill in salary, and now only have about 30 mill in committed salary this offseason.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks have agreed on a trade.

In the trade, Cleveland will trade Zydrunas Ilgauskas (10,841,615), Maurice Williams (8,353,000), Delonte West (3,850,000), and JJ Hickson (1,329,480) to Atlanta for Josh Smith (10,000,000), Mike Bibby (14,983,603), Acie Law (2,071,680), and Othello Hunter (442,114)

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=5050639

Due to Atlanta and Cleveland being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Atlanta and Cleveland had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

CLE Reasoning: We hate to lose three current starters in this deal. However, bringing in someone the calibur of Josh Smith was a deal we could not pass up. Also bringing in a veteran point guard in Mike Bibby should help take some of the load off of LeBron late in games. We hope to reach a contract extension agreement with Mike Bibby this offseason.

Minnesota agrees we trade getting a young Big that already signed an extension (basically equal to the full MLE) ,2 early 2nd rounders, and a 2011 unprotected 1st is well worth takinging the 4 mil cap hit Kwame Brown will cost us.

ATL Reasoning: We get an allstar PG in Mo Williams who proved to be a very reliable 2nd offensive option + a very solid combo guard who could play behind JJ and Mo Williams giving us a great 3 guards rotation in West. We also get a legit C in Big Z allowing Horford to move to his natural position where he could produce more and Atlanta now have a good size instead of an undersized PF and an undersized C. JJ Rickson will add a much needed cheap depth bigman giving ATL a 3 bigman rotation for now.

This trade also makes easier to extend Marvin/bring back Childress since the concerns about the PG position are gone, Atl don't need to worry about both PG and SF position risking lose both starters. Atl have an all star pg at his prime locked in a long term contract, leaving SF as the only concern for the offseason.

Blockbuster deal between Toronto Raptors and Oklahoma City Thunder

Toronto Raptors Trade:
Chris Bosh $14,410,581
Roko Ukic $1,250,000
Total: $15,660,581

Oklahoma City Thunder Trades:
2009 Oklahoma City Thunder's First Round Pick *(Top 1 Protected)- If the Pick is #1, then the Toronto Raptors will send it's 2009 First Round Pick in the deal as well.
Robert Swift $3,579,131
Jeff Green $3,284,640
Damien Wilkins $3,100,000
Chucky Atkins $3,240,000
Total: $13,203,771 x 1.25 = $16,504,713.75 > $15,660,581

Raptors Agree. My goal was to move Bosh and I did. I don't think he will stay here because there isn't much talent here. This was a treadmill team with not much tradeable assets so my best asset was Bosh. It's sad to see him go but I pick up Jeff Green a great fit to Bargs and with the pick I can pick a PF replacement for Bosh if needed.

2 Players were waived above to make room

The Thunder accept. We love Jeff Green, but he isn't a pure PF and we needed a post presence to go with Durant and Westbrook. We feel with Durant and Westbroook already here, we have a great, young core moving forward with this team.

The Indiana Pacers and Charlotte Bobcats have agreed upon a trade.

Indiana sends Mike Dunleavy ($9,000,000), Roy Hibbert ($1,465,440), 2009 Dallas 2nd round pick, and Brandon Rush ($1,799,160) for Emeka Okafor ($9,537,500) and Raymond Felton ($4,148,715).

Total Outgoing for Pacers: 12,264,600
Total Outgoing for Bobcats: 13,686,215

Reason for trade: As GM of the Pacers organization, we were vary on trading two of our young cornerstones so early in the game, but felt Okafor was the perfect fit for the type of team we're trying to build. He's one of the most underrated big man in the league, it's true he was drafted behind Dwight Howard and not completely lived up to his potential, but he's an awesome defender (anchoring a team that's currently in the top 10 of both points allowed - defensive FG%), one of the top rebounders, and severely underused on the offensive end, shooting 56% from the floor with under 10 shot attempts per game. Now with a defensive anchor, and a primary wing scorer in Granger, who's also a good defender, we feel we have a lot more flexibility in the moves we're allowed to make in the future. Not to mention, Felton can also be a valuable asset in the future for dealing as well.

Okafor is BYC; so this trade doesn't work salary-wise. His outgoing value is cut in half, so Charlotte is taking too much salary back.

Bobcats accept trade:

In short, we're extremely high on Hibbert and Rush. Dunleavy is a nice pickup and has shown a lot of improvement over the last couple of years.

^Contingent on previous deal

The Bobcats and Spurs have reached a deal.

Spurs send:

Bruce Bowen 4 Million
Fabrico Oberto: 3,600,000
George Hill : 1,006,200

Total: 8,606,200x 1.25 = 10,757,750 > 9,586,687

Bobcats send:

Mike Dunleavy: 9,000,000
Juwan Howard: 586,687
RETURN OF 2009 2ND ROUND PICK

Total: 9,586,687

Deal works

Dunleavy didn't fit into our long term plans. We're excited about the addition of George Hill who has proven he can perform at a high level when needed. Bruce Bowen and Oberto should do an awesome job mentoring our young guys.

Spurs Reasoning:

Bowen and Oberto weren't going to fit in our long term plans, and Dunleavy provides some punch at SF where we needed some energy and contribution, while returning our second round pick.

DET and PHI are announcing a blockbuster.

DET incoming:
Marreese Speights
Thaddeus Young
Samuel Dalembert
Andre Iguodala
Wille Green
Donyell Marshall
Kareem Rush
Jason Smith
Royal Ivey
2009 first (no protection)
2010 first (no protection)

for

Tayshaun Prince
Richard Hamilton
Rasheed Wallace (13 mill expiring)
TOR Second rounder 09
DET second rounder 10

Donyell Marshall
Kareem Rush
Jason Smith
Royal Ivey

Are then waived, they are expirings.

Reasoning: DET after much consideration has decided to rebuild. Our core simply isn't working anymore, and we are looking to build a younger team that can compete and grow together. We are looking to build around our young backcourt of Stucky/Iggy and Young at the SF spot. Dally fills a need for a center, Speights at the PF spot, and the 2009 and 2010 picks will help in the rebuilding process. Combined with our exprings and cap room next year and we feel we are in a good position to build from here and get younger. By 2010 we will have a good young team, and cap room to snag a good free agent and compete.

deal...

Why for Philly...
philly is sick of just being in the playoffs.....

a line up of

Andre Miller
Rip Hamilton/Loius Williams
Tayshaun Prince
Elton Brand/Reggie Evans
Rasheed Wallace/Theo Ratliff

can do damage in the east.

The bench will fill itself out as time goes on.... picks dont mean squat when your contending.
Defense wins championships kids.

You also can't have more than 15, even if you immediately waive an incoming player.
