GM a Team Free Agency Thread

Post#1 » by skorff26 » Sat Apr 25, 2009 1:14 am

-General guide; if you have any suggestions or think I missed something send me an e-mail at skorf26@yahoo.com
-I will also be sending out e-mails to see if teams want to retain a players bird rights (if you do, then you get to exceed the salary cap without using an exception to resign that player but they do have a cap hold against you; if you don't then you don't get their bird rights but you also don't get a cap hold)
-By the end of the draft, teams with team options MUST have made a decision to pick it up or decline it; or I will make a decision on your behalf
-START SENDING IN YOUR OFFERS TO RESIGN YOUR OWN FREE AGENTS

-Also when you send in your offers: include monetary amount, playing time to be expected, role on the team, and anything else that you think would help your cause. I will do my best to do what is best for each player based on money, length of contract, playing time, location, chance to win, fit for a team, loyalty, and a few other minor factors.

(More instructions to come later for free agency); BYC status still to be determined.

-() indicate which team has that players bird rights

Interesting, not sure throwing max money at guys like sessions, hedo etc is the best way to go. I for one have a PG in mind that loves playing with Dirk..

What? Boozer says he's very likely to re-sign with the Jazz.

Damn, I guess you guys are all out of luck. (Listening to Sign and Trades, though.)

on a serious note, when do we have to decide on unguarateed contracts and partial guaranteed contracts!

By the end of free agency those players need to have been waived if they have a deadline that makes it guaranteed.

you can start to send in offers to resign your own players

when the draft is over then you can send in offers for other teams players.

Holy cow you guys are impatient!

But ya, how much should I offer Shannon Brown? I was thinking about $20 million over 2 years.

Also I won't be responding back about resigning players until I get the free agent list finalized which should be Wednesday. I'll send out more information then and hopefully we will have new rosters for GS and Phoenix by then.

Eh, then you're gonna have to beat 4/40 for Sessions

*Edit, changed from 4/45 to 4/40

I don't have to beat it....I'll just match it. And you'll have $10 mil in cap space tied up for a week, while other good players are being signed. But by all means sign him to an offer sheet. :)
