GM a Team 2010 - Rankings

I will post the rankings in this thread tomorrow afternoon/evening. The East/West winners in each of the 3 categories will have a playoff to determine winners. Those teams can post up their write ups in this thread and we will vote in this thread instead of email.
As for rankings... so far I have only received rankings from 5 GMs. Please get these in by tomorrow morning/early afternoon if you are not one of the 5 that have already done so.

I ended up using the same point system that skorff used last go round and gave 50 points to each GM that sent in rankings.
From 1st to last the points were handed out like ...
50 - 42 - 37 - 32 - 28 - 24 - 20 - 16 - 13 - 10 - 07 etc(doesn't matter as most GMs didn't vote for teams with no write up)
Here are the results for 'win now'
Win Now
East
NYK 50 = 42 - 50 - 50 - 50 - 42 - 50 - 42 - 37 - 50 - 37 - 50 - 50 = 600

Feel free to check the math as the numbers were starting to blurrrr
New York and San Antonio will have a playoff to determine the overall winner in this category and can get started on their write ups for why they deserve the victory.
We will vote for the winner in the playoffs thread instead of sending me email.

This is why I hate this stupid ranking system. Personally I'm very displeased with my ranking in the Win Now category because I feel people are not respecting the hot pile of garbage I started with in Toronto and the fact that right now, that team is headed for disaster. I can't think of a team in a worse situation if Chris Bosh leaves than them, whereas a team like New York has cap space to make a move. I also believe people are severely overrating New York in terms of winning a championship now, since this is my belief:
Bosh/Wade vs. Gasol/LeBron is a wash
The rest is Deron Williams, Roger Mason, Anderson Varejao, Craig Smith, Ben Wallace, Rasual Butler, Luke Ridnour, Larry Hughes vs. Jason Terry, Eddie House, Lamar Odom, Mickael Pietrus, DeJuan Blair, Samuel Dalembert, Marcus Camby
NYK has the most talented in trio in this game bar none, but if that's the reason you're just gifting them first in everything then I don't think you've read into this at all. That bench is not equipped to come out of the East especially if an injury to one of the big 3 occurs (which over the course of season, is likely). This is not to take anything away from New York, he's done a terrific job and I put him #1 overall and in the future category. I just don't think that team can come out of the East right now, not with my level of depth.
That's my personal belief, but what is absolutely ludicrous and I can't believe is the fact that someone ranked me last in "Future" category for teams that did a writeup. I would like that person to explain the ranking please, if you don't feel comfortable making it public, you can e-mail me (
rahim.jaffer07@gmail.com), but I don't want to have a last place vote because of some grudge you're holding against me. Chris Bosh + Dwyane Wade is enough to guarantee me a top 6 spot IMO, and to put me last is ridiculous.

Wow.
After seeing these rankings I'll be thinking twice about participating in one of these.
No issues with my own ranking (I didn't think I deserved to be very high), but its clear that some people don't understand how this was supposed to work.

I will just assume you are talking to your fellow GMs since I just compiled all the rankings I was sent.
FWIW every single GM that voted picked NYC for 'Over All' (including you) with the single exception of New York's GM picking your team to finish 1st.
Took me since 2:30 this afternoon with only 2 hours break to compile this list, add up the results, and post. Glad it is done, exhales.

Always seems to be some real screwy rankings, happens every game to some degree but I am not sure how it can be avoided. After the mini playoffs are over I will post up a 'deep thoughts' thread for GMs to give suggestions on what went well and what can be done better next go round so whomever takes over the commissioner mantle should have some good insight to roll with right from the get.

and
Definitely an eye opener to be the commish. Mad props to you skorff, I appreciate the awesome job you did last game so much more now that I got to walk in your shoes.

Take a game off and run the show instead, I think you could do a good job of it.
I don't know how many games it will take before we get the system ironed out so it works smoothly from start to finish but hopefully not too many.

Be sure to give input when I put up the deep thoughts/suggestions for improvement thread in a few days.

after seeing the voting i have NO interest in running a game or ever playing in one again. Plain and simple.
I love the reasonings that a team of Jennings, C.Lee, Ariza, Illyasova, Blatch and Matiejuvas finished 100 points ahead of a dead lst future team of Dwight Howard, P.Patterson, A.Thornton, Morrow, Sessions, R.Sidney, and Bynum
Re: GM a Team 2010 - Rankings

I think Morrow and Bynum are way under rated by people that aren't familiar with them. Morrow picked up right where he left off last year and is shooting 498 from the field and 475 from downtown. Bynum can score like crazy and gets to the rim at will. Hell I might actually put him ahead of Sessions in your rotation just cuz of the better D.
It seems like star/name power is more important than fit/chemistry in too many eyes. Just cuz the refs seem to favor certain players doesn't mean we the fans have to as well. I just don't know how we will get this situated for future games. Perhaps we go with outside judges in the future as bryant08 suggested to me via email.
