Dominant defensive anchor with 2 Defensive player of the year awards to his name in selected years. One of the most feroicious comeptitors of the 1990's who coupled dominant defense with an efficient offensive gme.

Great defensive power forward who can help out Alonzo Mourning down low. Also a monster on the glass, particularly the offensive glass. Not a major offensive threat, but putbacks and inside positioning gave him solid efficiency.

Probably the most versatile player in this competition. Could score from just about everywhere, including beyond the arch, great passer/playmaker, great rebounder, and first rate team defender. The franchise player for this team.

One of the best shooters in this game. Statistically on par with Reggie Miller among the all time great shooters from beyond the arch, he offers the perfect dead eye shooter to spread the floor for our potent offense.

The Glove. The greatest defensive point guard in this game, and its not particularly close. Incredible both man-to-man and as a help defender. Also large enough to back down all point guards in the post and able to guard either backcourt position. Terrific scoring ability in a 3 year peak.

Backup center who will see major minutes when we need a jump shooting big to draw out defenders. He was also himself a terrific team defender and a first rate rebounder who manned the paint for the hard nosed Pistons championship teams of the late 80s.

Was so good, he was traded for Kobe. Though now remembered by many for that infamous swap, he was a great all round center for over a decade in the NBA, helping to lead the solid and now largely forgotten Laker teams of the pre-Shaq 90's. One of the better passing big men of his era, and a great all round center to boot. Great insuranc policy in case one of my boys up front goes down with an injury.

- Simply the most dominant two way center in this league. His length, quickness, and agility could slow down the opposing team's offense just by clogging passing lanes and driving lanes. He has the size to defend Shaq and the quickness to defense PG’s on switches. His rebounding was dominant, and in this system he will be able to roam a bit and get a ton of steals and blocks. On offense he is close to unguardable, range to 20 feet, and obviously dominant post moves. Underrated as a passer as well, and can get guys open for easy baskets. He is the 1# option on offense and on defense he is anchoring what I hope to be the one of the best defensive teams in this league. In most match-ups he should be the best player on the floor and certainly the best big.

- Pippen is one of the most versatile players to play in the league, just a very unique skillset. He was good enough to be a 1# guy by himself and was in fact a serious MVP candidate at one point, but he was willing to defer and play a sidekick role for the majority of his career. The GOAT perimeter defender in this league and maybe ever, and also a brilliant passer, a point forward who gives this team elite passing and playmaking at the SF spot. A very efficient scorer and in my chosen years he is one of the best 3 point shooters in this league, he can spread the floor for Hakeem. Along with Hakeem he gives me the best 1-2 punch on defense in the league and a pretty damn good 1-2 punch on offense.

- A deadly 3 point threat, with a very good all around game. He can play off the ball and with the play-making from Isiah and Pippen we wanted a pure scorer at SG. He will spread the floor with his shooting ability and is a good passer as well which is a theme on this team. Though he was no slouch on defense, he will guard the weaker of the two wing positions with Pippen guarding the opposing teams primary wing scorer. Just a nice fit on this team.

- Isiah was one of the only players that has a winning postseason record against Bird, MJ and Magic. He won 2 championships as the first option on those Pistons in the late 80’s. Just an unbelievable floor general and in my chosen years he had the single season APG record, a ridicules 14 assists per game. A great scorer, not many PG’s in this league will be able to slow him down, tough as nails, clutch as hell, a great leader, and he elevated his game come the post season.

Isiahs 16 point outburst in 90 sec to send a game 5 to OT
Isiahs 26 point outburst in the 3rd to win game 6 of the NBA Finals

Isiah will have many weapons to work with here, and he will be our 2nd or 3rd option on offense depending on who is on the floor. Isiah was also a tough defender who will work on that end, if he has to guard some of the bigger PG's in the league he will have plenty of help.

- One of the great perimeter defenders of his generation, along with Pippen he forms one half of the best defensive wing combo in this league. An extremely smart player who currently guards the best players in the league, most notably Kobe Bryant, better than anyone can. In most cases he will be locking down the second best perimeter defender on the other team. Wing penetration will be hard to come by against our team and Hakeem will be waiting for any guards or wings that happen to slip by Pippen or Battier. On offense Battier is more of a glue guy, who will mainly be a corner 3 guy who will be seeing a lot of open looks will Thomas/Pippen/Hakeem creating shot opportunities for him. I chose to make him my 6th man and play him major minutes him because he doesn’t demand the ball a lot on offense and his high 3P% will help space the floor.

Cellardoor

PG: Chauncey Billups (3 year span TBD): Mr Big Shot is pretty much the definition of the sort of player you want in this competition. The ability to score, but not the desire to take shots from teammates. The ability to run a team without being ball dominant. A top shooter in the league, a great penetrator. Great size and defense at his position. He does it all for you.

SG: Clyde Drexler (87/88-89/90): Drexler is, in my opinion, the 2nd best SG in this league. All respect due to Kobe (and Wade if you feel he had an argument), Clyde was just transcendent, and if he didn't play as Michael's contemporary it would be more apparent. Clyde remade himself every year as whatever his team needed. At different points he averaged 8 assists and 8 boards, always scored in bunches at a more efficient rate than SGs not named Michael. He was a good man defender and terrific ballhawk. One of the best things about Clyde is he played like a big, and no one can shoot over him at his position.
Accolades: All NBA 2nd, All NBA 3rd

SF: Bobby Jones (79/80 to 81/82) The Secretary of Defense was ridiculous. Still one of my favorite players. Not only can he D up so many different people it will make your head spin, but he's got elite rebounding skills for a SF or good ones for a PF, he's a terrific weakside and team defender, and he scores hyperefficiently with his limited touches.
Accolades: All Def 1st x3, and they basically made the 6th man of the year award for him, but not until after my chosen set of years.

PF: Dirk Nowitzki (04/05 to 06/07 season): Dirk is in the discussion for the greatest shooter of all time. And he's seven feet tall with a release so high you've got about as good a chance of blocking his shot as Kareem's sky hook. Dirk's final season being used in this competition featured the oft mentioned, seldom reached 50/40/90 standard. He also scores at an incredible rate, has improved his defense (though he'll never be a terrific help defender) and developed a post/mid range game. This isn't the Dirk of his first few seasons jacking up 5 3s a game. Along with Gervin, Ewing, and Drexler he commands a double in a league where you simply can't double anyone.

C: Patrick Ewing (93/94-95/96): All Ewing ever did was anchor one of the best defenses in the league every year with little to no help while sporting obscene usage rates, but still managing to get his efficient 20 points. In our offense he's not going to be forced to do everything himself. He's surrounded by threats freeing him up to further improve his efficiency.

George Gervin (79/80 season to 81/82 season): Gervin is one of the greatest scorers. Ever. Claiming more scoring titles than anyone but Wilt and Jordan (on just as high efficiency as Michael) when everyone knows where the ball is going. The problem is, you dont know what he's going to do with it. Hookshots, layups, jumpers. He had it all. In a league WITH triple teams Gervin routinely dropped 30 and 40 points. In a league where you can't triple him. You're not stopping him. Jerry West doesn't think you can stop him either way: "You don't stop George Gervin. You just hope that his arm gets tired after 40 shots. I believe the guy can score when he wants to. I wonder if he gets bored out there."

Kevin Johnson (88/89-90/91) Name the players in this competition with three straight 20 point 10 assist on 50+ eFG% seasons: Kevin Johnson. That's it. not Gary Payton, not IT, not even Magic. The only reason we don't hear about KJ as much as this point is due to his injures. Unfortunately for my competitors, these are KJ's healthy seasons. Supremely efficient and relentlessly going at his defenders, Johnson scored with relative ease and distributed with the best of them. He was also an accomplished ball thief and a pretty damn good defender at his size.

Bill Walton (83/84-85/86) Walton was an absolutely ridiculous talent. Stellar defense, passing, shooting, BBIQ, great footwork and weakside D. Only problem was his ridiculous amount of injuries. Later in his career in the limited minutes roles, Walton played fabulously once again. His per 36 numbers bear this out as well as his advanced statistics. He'll make a fine back-up to Patrick.

Derrick Coleman (92/93-94/95): Derrick is one of the most talented guys we've seen in this league, bar none. And when he put it together, he was a force. He could score in a variety of ways included a reliable jumper and got to the line often. He's a deep bench guy who will likely only take minutes when the match-ups present themselves.
