PLAYOFFS: Teams Leading 3 Games - X Games

Post#1 » by Base » Wed Apr 27, 2011 3:27 am

I wanted to find how often teams come back to win in a series when down 3-0, 3-1, 3-2. The Records will show the records of team who had a series lead of either 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2. If a team is up 3-0 and lose they next two games, but end up winning the series, that counts as 1 win and 0 losses, but it won't count as the records to the teams who had a 3-1 record or 3-2 lead. It would just be marked as a win in the 3-0 column. Hopefully it makes sense.

Stats do not include 2011 playoffs.

Preliminary rounds:
Leading 3-0: 15-0 (12 Sweeps)
Leading 3-1: 27-2
Leading 3-2: 16-4
Total: 58-6 (64 Series' Played)

Quarter Finals:
Leading 3-0: 41-0 (23 Sweeps)
Leading 3-1: 62-3
Leading 3-2: 55-11
Total: 158-14 (172 Series' Played)

Semi-Finals:
Leading 3-0: 26-0 (14 Sweeps)
Leading 3-1: 34-3
Leading 3-2: 32-13
Total: 92-16 (108 Series' Played)

Finals:
Leading 3-0: 12-0 (8 Sweeps)
Leading 3-1: 26-0
Leading 3-2: 19-7
Total: 57-7 (64 Series Played)

TOTALS
Leading 3-0: 94-0 (57 Sweeps)

Great stats. I take it that the records are at the moment the team wins the third game, then, correct? (My attempt to explain what you explained above.)

Basically going down 3-1 is almost as much of a death sentence as 3-0.

3-2 obviously has a good split of games going to 7 games (3-3 then one to win). Good stuff.
