Iverson's scoring (in)efficiency

Post#1 » by JerkyWay » Sat Jul 30, 2011 9:38 pm

He's widely perceived as a bricklayer, but after hand-checking was forbidden, his efficiency went up by a decent margin. All of a sudden, he began to score on pretty decent efficiency.

His 2007-08 scoring numbers:
26.4 PPG, 56.7 TS%, 48.8 eFG$. That's essentially Kobe-like scoring.

He was somewhat less efficient in 2005-06, but his volume was enormously high - 25 FGA, 33 PPG.

I have never seen it before, and that's quite interesting.
Did you hear that Karl Malone and John Stockton initiated new music genre? Nah, it's not Jazz. It's Pick & Roll.

well when he went to denver he became the 2nd option behind Melo, and i think as he got older, like any NBA player, he became a better decision maker and his shot selection improved as a result. the hand checking certainly helped, but id lean towards the other 2 factors having a greater influence on his increase in efficiency.

Hand checking came too late to save AI from himself
