Any of you bet on basketball?

Post#167 » by demens » Fri Oct 22, 2010 11:06 pm

I've been doing some research and would like to ask a question.

Was trying to place parlay bets on season win total predictions, but the site is not allowing it for Props bets. Wtf not? Do other sites allow it?

The more flexibility on parlay options, the easier it is for people to cash in on longshot bets. I've never seen a site that allows you to parlay stuff like season win totals.

I don't believe any betting site or even Vegas allows that.

Does anyone here bet on the NBA?

Post#170 » by DishinNSwishin » Tue Oct 26, 2010 11:12 am

It seems like a lot of people here know their stuff. Us working together to break down games and lines could possibly dominate our bookies.

Is it appropriate here to discuss sports betting?

Should/could be a subforum for it or something, though I know the site would have to deal with certain legal parameters to discuss gambling of any sort seriously.

I don't, but play poker with some people who do. I give them tips as long as my Lakers aren't playing, but yeah, I myself have pondered how well realgm could do vs. the field too...

I'm still new and working with limite funds, most of which i lost already.

I still dont get some of the nuances of this. Like for example.

HOUSTON +7-110 o197-110 +265
LA LAKERS -7-110 u197-110 -315

Tonights game LA vs Rockets. Point spread is +7 vs -7. over/under on total points in 197. Placing a bet on any of those things will win you less then you place. But picking a straight winner from the moneyline can get you almost triple your money!!!! If you go with the rockets.

Imo it is A LOT easier to pick a game winner then to guess the point spread or whatever. So where is the incentive to try to guess the points if its much harder and doesn't win you near as much money as picking a winner?

Thats 1. The site i registered on, bodog, is rated A (top 10) on most Sportsbook review sites. But as of right now they have close the betting on todays games, with UFC or Giants game yesterday you could place bets almost till the end started. Not only that, before they even closed it, there was no options to even make a bet for a straight winner (no moneyline). Othersite that i was looking at to register with before this one DO have the money and you can place bets right now. So wtf am i missing? Did i register on a crappy site?

EDIT:
Huh, now they made the games available again and added total points. Just a second ago those options were not there. However, still no moneyline!

I'd love to discuss the night's matchup and give our thoughts on who would win the game. When I was actually over in Israel several years ago, they had a pamphlet in every convenient store called "Winner"...which essentially lets you pick different types of bets you want to do on the games they had shown and the lines etc. Their lines were actually judged by Israeli bookies who didn't know the NBA game like those in Vegas do and tended to overrate certain teams and players during lines...so as you can imagine it wasn't hard winning those bets.

Anyway...I'd love to provide insight and discussions on the night's betting lines....would be extremely interested to see how realgm does vs the field...perhaps even create a poll with all of the lines and do a vote and explain your side...then keep a tally of how many we got right vs wrong etc
