Gasol is having a monster season so far but it's kind of hard to compare to him to Kobe in some stats because of the large difference in minutes they're out on the court. Gasol is averaging 37.8mpg versus Kobe's 31.8.

Once the season starts getting in the groove their minutes will become more similar.

Pau Gasol is the MVP and BEST player of that team, anyone who says otherwise is dumb and should look at the stats presented to you.

Do Laker fans think Odom > Barnes > Brown > Artest > Blake > Fisher in terms of impact?

Do Miami fans think Lebron > Wade > Z > Bosh > Arroyo > Jones > Anthony > House > Haslem?

You have to take into account garbage minutes too.

Before looking at the stats and just going based on what I see every night my order would be

Odom > Artest > Brown > Barnes = Blake > Fisher

I'm a Lakers fan and yea, so far Gasol has been our best player by far.

Haha wow, look at the on/off stats for the Lakers... Gasol is the only player where if he's off the court, we're in the negatives. Damn.

Looking at all the +/- ratings as well, Pau has Kobe dominated in most statistical categories and efficiency.

You wanna provide some reasoning for that? Or are you just going to make worthless blanket statements?

It's so early, one good/bad game will swing these numbers wildly. But they don't help Love's case.

Raw +/- numbers are pretty useless.

Adjusted +/- are better.

Rashard Lewis

Net points on court per 100 posessions - + 9.8
Net points off court per 100 possessions - + 10.6
Net impact = NEGATIVE .8

5.2 PER at SF, LOL
14.2 PER at PF

Opponent Counterpart Production

13.8 PER at SF
14.8 PER at PF

Negative on/off, Negative Production, Negative Simple Rating, AND WE PAY 20 MILLION FOR THIS? **** YOU LEWIS, **** YOU.

Blake Griffin has a really bad +/-. Worst of anyone on the Clippers. CJ leading the team in +/- even though he isn't playing well because his ball handling allows the Jazz to play better offense.

Hibbert shows as a massive positive in both adjusted and unadjusted plus minus.

IIRC, there used to be a commentary piece on 82games that described the methodology for charting/determining the opponent PER by position data on the player pages. I can't seem to find that article anymore. Does anyone know how they determine who a player's opponent counterpart is on a play by play/minute by minute basis. There are teams that cross matchups and play non-traditional lineups frequently that would seemingly complicate this kind of data.

Anyone know the ins and outs of the player page by position data? Do we already have a thread for this? (My search function is not being helpful)

Thanks
