I'm a little afraid to ask: What's the average APM of white players in this league?

This is unweighted by possessions played so it is not the best possible answer (Jerry's site doesn't give the possessions played beside the player's rating) but it appears that for the 2010-11 season the unweighted average non-"black" players (could be of European ancestry, including Hispanic, or Asian or Middle Eastern) were a couple tenths of a point better on offensive RAPM, about a tenth better on defensive RAPM for a total RAPM edge of about .35 points per 100 own possessions over "black" players (African-American or African or black Caribbean).

Hispanic is not a race but an origin. There are black and white hispanics, like almost everywhere.
European is not a race but an origin. There are black and white europeans (Parker, Noah, ... are europeans).

What does define a "non-black" player. If one of your grandmothers is black and the rest of your grandparents are white, what is your race? Who has not have a mixture of races in the last centuries? Almost nobody. Is Griffin, black or white?

The answer to all those questions is "who cares?".
This is a stupid why of speaking. It seems that some people still is not over segregation time.

Has anyone been keeping an eye on the RAPM numbers? Collison has risen to 2nd overall. Also, the Thunder are +13.35 so far this year when he's on the court, which is fifth in the league.

I don't know. Collison's numbers show his offensive impact which has a lot more to do with Harden being 130 ORTG player who creates shots off the dribble. OKC has been terrible defensively and Collison can't get defensive rebounds which kind of contributes to their woes. I think Collison is a phenomenal player, but he's regressed this year due to lower rebounding and OKC's terrible team D.

That's a seriously loaded sentence. Care to give some explanation/evidence?

I have absolutely no doubt that Harden is a major part of OKC's success; that Harden + Collison is a brilliant combo. But that's just it, it's a combo. In raw numbers, OKC is better when Collison is on the court than Harden both offensively and defensively. Which makes the argument that Collison is riding Harden's coattails...absolutely ridiculous.

Clearly Collison's impact is situational. But it's also indisputable. This is 3 years running now--including 2 playoff runs--when his raw plus-minus/APM/RAPM numbers have been absolutely superb.

They're average defensively, which is generally considered not to be equated with "terrible." Semantics. :dontknow:

The Thunder are outscoring their opponents by 12.95 points per 100 possessions when Collison is on the court. Which is phenomenal, in case you were wondering. So I don't know where you're getting the idea that he has "regressed."
